- Big Boy finally gets dug out of Denver snow and steams through Hazeltine into Brighton, CO at about 11 am as it heads north to Greeley and Cheyenne in a snowstorm, Tuesday morning November 26, 2019 The last day of "The Great Race Across the Southwest"
This is bittersweet having left off the Great Race back in Kansas City knowing all of yours and all of the others' great pictures and videos would keep it going for me...
I've been stranded before in my car up in Colorado's Estes Park in a total white out blizzard rescued by an elk herd, as well as in Yellowstone, the Tetons, Rawlins, and Western Kansas so leaving off here was my best seat in the house not getting to be in the cab this time like I'd hoped to be! Cheyenne has always someday going to be home for me...my dad's the one who got me dreaming...
Excellent pacing in the snow. I know this wasn’t easy to do on slick roads. 👍👍👍
Great pacing in the snow👍👍i salute you, wonderful job, wonderful job
Amazing, thank you so much. Colorado appears to be a beautiful place throughout the year, but somehow the blanket of snow makes everything look innocent and peaceful. It is, I think, fitting that 4014 finishes its landmark tour as it began...in snow. Remember the Race to Ogden some 6 months ago?
Amazing how many people came out in that weather to see the 4014
Beautiful pacing video especially in the snow.
Excellent video! Great pacing! Filming this must have been a rush. (BTW, I'm the lone railfan at 11:59)
By the gates or car?
Superb driving and thanks for the footage.
I think UP should pair up the diesel with road number 4884 to use with the 4014 full time. That would look pretty cool I think.
UP 4014 is
The polar express on steroids lol xd!
What is your speed? All the fans along the way make this very special.
35-45mph
Nice Pacing the Big Boy 4014

So beautiful !! Wish I was on it
Perfectly beautiful job of paceing. How fast were you going?
If you watch the video in 2x it gives the feeling of an old 844 highball video. :-)
Fantastic, I luve it !
Dan
Let her run, keep it down, and hold what you got👍👍👍👍
Majestic
Such a beautiful site, can anyone tell me why the consist has 10 grain wagons on the rear, was it because the locomotive was designed to pull heavy trains and doesn't run well light? If it is a permanent fixture the shop should cut the wagons up and make dummy coaches out of the wagons that'd make for a more pleasing scene, just my opinion.
I read on another video that the grain cars were added for weight, to help slow it down when needed. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. When it came thru Provo Utah at the front of this run, those grain cars weren't there. I don't know when they were added.
somewhere in Kansas I heard
Sehr gut
Awesome Video

Looks like She`s making a buck too small Rev.load
Isnt this the same town 844 hit and killed a woman?
That was at the 124th & Hwy 85 crossing, the video rolls by it at the 4 minuet mark so remember to stay 25 ft. back from the tracks. A tragedy to learn from... and may she RIP.
Had no idea Brighton/Henderson was a little famous in the Historic Train Community for being a place a woman was killed.
