    If it at least has 110 hp it will be tough to beat. If it comes in around $ 10,000 even Aprilia will have nightmares. It has the potential to push other players to up their game which will be great for consumers.

    The biggest differences is the Triumph will be worth more than $1.50 when you sell it. I'd rather find a used Triumph 675. Those aggressive riding position didn’t sell well is one reason that they went way and that is probably why Triumph Daytona 660 is what it is.

    Ι 've owned a Triumph Daytona T595 (955 c.c., for the younger ones) back in the late '90s. And it had a perfect balance: it was not a "track oriented" sports bike to enjoy every once in a while, nor on the other hand was it a "watered down" street bike that was "beginner friendly". It was not the strongest bike back then but it had enough raw power to be a beast, and was really well set-up so if you were a bit experienced you could have a blast with a bike that gave you fun and confidence.
    I rode it every day and went on several longer or shorter trips on it. A few times, even 2-up (although not often).
    So THAT 'S actually how Triumph should have built a new Daytona (preferably with the 765 engine).
    Now as for the CF Moto bike, not my cup of tea, but it is actually interesting. And anything above 100 hp is enough for road use, in my opinion.

    • @matthiashauptmann9423
      @matthiashauptmann9423 26 днів тому +1

      I had a Triumph Sprint ST and later a Street Triple R - the lightest bike with the best suspension and brakes I ever had on a stock bike. I fought myself for 2 years: should I sacrifice 30 kg for a 955i Daytona? The 675 engine was just too linear to be fun on the road. The 955 engine was a different animal in every respect and I also brought that bike down to 205 kg fully fuelled. In the end I sold her because you didn´t feel anything up to 170 km/h (105 mph) on open roads, which does not promote the life of rider or license.
      The 675 CF Moto looks like an interesting concept, but 1. let´s wait how they water it down for the production bike, 2. where will it be price-wise and 3. the looks are a bit pubertal ...

    • @kaveiros75
      @kaveiros75 25 днів тому

      @@matthiashauptmann9423 I also had a 955 Sprint RS (the half-fairing one) after the Daytona. Initially I was not so excited (the Daytona was wilder) but a year later I put on a titanium aftermarket exhaust and some mapping and it got quite some grunt in the mid-range. Then... I put on a K&N filter and voila! Revelation! I 've had around 120 hp on the back wheel, with a throttle response of a well tuned 4-cylinder 600 cc (and this with its maximum, huge, torque at just 5100 rpm!!!). You could roll around with a passenger and have a cool ride and next second you had a beast - that needed experience and attention to be controlled. I loved it so much I kept it for 13 years. Now after a few years on a Japanese bike, I am considering of getting a previous model 765 Street Tripple R, too. I test-rode it last year and it still had enough "rawness" in its engine that reminded me of the older Triumphs.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 28 днів тому +2

      The problems were mostly down to the Regulator/Rectifier on first-generation bikes. A failed R/R could also lead to a fried stator. But there's nothing mysterious about it. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Ducati all had the same problem on various models. (Not sure about Kawasaki, but it probably happened to them, too.)
      The old shunt-type R/R could overheat, particularly in hot climates. It was replaced with a MOSFET-type unit.

      @LGHTSPD675 It's just the consensus years after they were produced. The first gen 675s were notorious for electrical issues up until 2009-2010 where they fixed it more or less. The later gens aren't prone to them on a consistent basis.
      I'm not sure about the other brands because I haven't dived into their history as much, but I researched Triumph frequently before buying my Street Triple 675R. Love it

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 22 дні тому

      @@LGHTSPD675 No, just a first-generation Daytona 675 owner and motorcycle rider/enthusiast. I've owned three Triumph sport bikes. Still have the D675 and a '22 Street Triple RS.
      The D675 was bought new and I went through two R/R units in a couple of years. No stator or other damage but it was frustrating. Triumph first replaced failed units with the same (new) part but eventually issued a proper recall and replaced the original part with a MOSFET unit.
      The thing is that the R/R and all of the electrical components are actually from respected Japanese manufacturers, so those manufacturers' components show up in a lot of other bikes, too. There are a lot of variables depending on the actual bike design, of course, but those shunt-type units could fail under certain conditions. And I think as sportbike designs became more mass centralized and more high performance oriented, those old units were not totally sufficient anymore.
      Beyond that, there were no other weird or significant electrical issues for the rest of the D675's production run that I know of. I do know that some people have had issues with the stator years later that they chalked up as another problem but learned that it was actually crippled as a result of an old R/R failure.

    • @ApexRadius

      @@LGHTSPD675 No, just a first-generation Daytona 675 owner and general motorcycle nut. I've owned three Triumph sport bikes. Still own the D675 and a '22 Street Triple RS.
      I went through two R/Rs in the first three or so years with the D675 (bought new). No stator or other damage but it was frustrating. Triumph first replaced the failed ones with the same (new) part. That failed, too. (I did a lot of mileage during very hot summers in the NE USA.) Eventually they issued a proper recall and replaced the original shunt-type R/Rs with MOSFET units.
      The thing is that the R/Rs and electrical components were made by major Japanese OEM suppliers, so those components are in a lot of other bikes. Of course, allowing for variables related to specific bike design and environment, the old shunt-type units can overheat and fail under certain conditions. My theory is that as bikes became more mass centralized and with higher performance, those R/Rs were not totally sufficient anymore, so several motorcycle brands had similar issues.
      Suceeding generations of the D675 didn't have any widespread/significant electrical issues that I know of.

    I think that they will continue with the similar position/design to the one of the 450 SR-R which is with the clip-ons a little sporty not that road friendly. I would expect the price to be similar to the Daytona 660. I think that the Daytona is missing the adjustable front suspension and a better balance because it seems that it tends to lean back and have a slightly low grip on the front.

    So, Triumph should have made a bike which they introduced almost 20 years ago, was in production for over a decade, and they had to cancel because it didn't sell? I think you have your answer.
    If the supersport market is somehow revived, then Triumph might get back in. Until then, this bike is likely a halo model for CFMoto and they probably don't expect to actually sell many. I like it, though.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 15 днів тому

      @@catfunt5583 No it wasn't. The first-gen was generally considered head of the class overall, by a fair margin, for its first couple of years and every generation was usually in and around the top three. The ZX-6R (636cc) was usually considered best overall in class by the time the Daytona 675 was cancelled. The R6 was generally considered the best track/race platform but not a very good road bike. The GSX-R was up there a couple of years but was eventually left with no significant updates for over a decade. Same with the CBR-600RR, which was at the bottom for several years. The current "all new" ZX-6R is barely changed from the 20-teens version. It's arguably not as good. The new CBR isn't all that different, either.
      The Daytona was pretty expensive by the last gen, which didn't help.
      All were objectively very good. The middleweight supersport class was probably the most competitive class for many years. Then it died. Sales tanked for all of them. New emmision standards with low sales made them far less viable The ones that still exist are really only there for race homologation and the fact that the big four could afford to carry them with so few sales.
      That class, despite what the keyboard warriors like to believe, is still dead or barely breathing. I'm looking forward to the R9 and we'll see if it helps resuscitate that class.

Now, CF Moto are on their way to become the new Triumph, at least in the lower capacity segment. On a side note, I am happy that the CF Motot engine is a true triple, not a frankentriple with unevenly spaced crankshaft (T-plane). I just sold my Triumph 900 Rally Pro, due to unpleasant vibrations in the upper mid-range. Just look at the Suzuki 8R its so roamy and just perfect riding position more like a sportstourer just what i want but prefer a triple engine. This bike looks also better at the front. The Daytona looks also good and has that great engine and sound but the bike is to small and cramped and more lending forward riding position than the Suzuki 8R. The 8R its almost a perfect bike it handles great with that torque engine but dont like that front looks. As far as frames go, casting molds are ridiculously expensive. They also take tons of engineering scrutiny and time before the go-ahead is given to the tool maker to make the mold. Every little detail down to the 1/32" radius has to be considered for metal flow casting, because every second that passes when the mold machine is running is MONEY being made or lost.
    Compare that to a jig, metal pipes, and some welding? It's easy to see the cost difference.
    That CF Moto triple looks to be competing in the RS660, Daytona 660, R7, GSX-8R, CBR650R category.......not the dying 600 supersport category. So in the 100+ horsepower peak range, you'd imagine the triple is going to have a decent spread of torque. Manufacturers are having to comply with WINGNUTS in environmental bureaucracies.

    • @chrissorreda4982
      @chrissorreda4982 28 днів тому +3

      You're mixing the description of the pistons and how the engine is mounted on the bike. Inline never meant the orientation of the engine relative to the frame. It describes the arrangement of the cylinders relative to each other ex. V4/V2s mean the cylinders make a V pattern, Inline mean they are side by side from each other. Transverse and Longitudinal describe how they are mounted to the frame. That's why Moto Guzzi and Harleys both have V2 / V Twins but reviewers mention that Moto Guzzi's are transversely mounted on the bike.
      Also, mounting an inline 2, 3, and 4 engine transversely is the conventional way of putting an engine on a bike.

    I’ve always said. China is not Japan. Japan started out with quality products from day one. But as as WW2 enemy, they were frowned upon. China has made cheap shit for decades and though they are improving through collaboration with outside companies, they’re still not good. The only way I’d deliberately use a Chinese car or motorcycle, is if they gave it to me for free and agreed to let me tell the truth about the vehicle. In saying that, this is the first bike they will give me, along with the necessary “test” equipment for technical feedback. I’ll test it for a year of commuting to work, sporty weekend riding and trackdays. Then I could make an informed decision on Chinese bikes. 😁
