I just got my SEL+ about a month ago and happened to stumble upon this setting but if I hadn't this would have been the best video of the month! THANK YOU! Love you guys reviews!
This is the best information I've ever gotten off You Tube!! That split screen has always bugged the crap out of me! As soon as my wife get's home from work today i'm going straight out to try and change it on her 2021 Santa Fe. Since I just did an update this morning, it should be there. Love your guys channel, especially since you have built it up over the years especially since you were kids. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you!!!! I was so frustrated after I set the split screen in the Android auto then couldn't find where I did that!!! Spent 20 mins in the car looking everywhere and your video saved me from killing my new Palisade...
I expect to replace my 2015 Sonata with a 2021 Sonata Limited later today, so the timing for finding this video could not be any better. Short and to the point. Very well done!
I have a Kia Proceed 2022 - this did not work for me initially. I had to download the latest Kia navigation update to a USB stick and thereafter upload it to the car. Took some time, but it works now :)
Unfortunately, this does not seem to work in Genesis vehicles. My infotainment is up to date from the update five months ago, and I don’t have this option on my Gen6 G80. There’s a new update that just came out, but I can’t order it for delivery until June 5. I’ll see if that changes anything.
Thank you! While at the Hyundai dealership they couldn't (supposedly) figure this out. Guessing they didn't even try or don't care. Shameful either way. I searched for this quite a bit here but couldn't find it and then my attempt just now brought up your excellent video. Thanks again.
Dude, I just got home with my 2023 Tuscon Limited Hybrid and sat in the driveway for 10 minutes trying to find the setting to get the split screen to disappear. This video is a life saver! I was getting pissed thinking that was just the way it is. Thanks again for an awesome video!
@@CarConfections well, after going out to the car, this didn't fix the issue. I still have a huge black square on the right side and can't get rid of it. Your suggestion didn't work for some reason. What version of Android Auto are you running? I'm running 9.8
I’m so glad you found this setting. I have a 2023 Genesis GV80 SUV. I dislike the split screen layout when I’m using Apple CarPlay (usually Google Maps or Waze). I tried to find this setting so I could go in and disable it. It does not show this option on my vehicle. However, there is a software update that was just rolled out that I haven’t installed yet (my car has the previous update that was rolled out in November, 2022). I’m hoping that once I install the latest update, this option will be available on my Genesis. Thanks so much for sharing this VERY informative video!!
Thank you very much! The split always annoyed me... I did the software update yesterday on my Niro PHEV and on a friends Niro today. As he was about to leave he noticed his screen being completely filled with AA.... without looking for the option (nor even knowing of it) you mentioned. My Niro needed to have the box unchecked manually but at least... it works! 👍
Glad to help! Most Hyundai's prior to 2024 model year without the newest ccNC infotainment software will not be able to support wireless phone projection
Odd, that you have to check off that option to get rid of the split. On my lexus which there was an update on andriod auto recently, all you need to do while in the split screen is tap on the app on the quick bar again to expand fully.
Follow-up: Checking my car the split screen setting was already off, so no full screen result. Maybe this is the UK/Europe default. However from your video I get the impression that I probably need a software update. Thanks again though for the tip-off.
I have a 2023 PHEV Tucson Limited and the setting is off by default for both Carplay and AA. However, it does not expand the screen to the full width - it just puts an "Android Auto" banner in that right side portion and puts the Bluetooth name of your phone underneath the "Android Auto" line. If you enable the split screen option, then you have choices you can scroll through for that right side portion (navi map, weather, vehicle battery level, compass, etc.). I would prefer to have the full width as you have shown in your demo, but it seems highly dependent on model, headunit software version, and size of the screen.
We've heard several people mention issues with the Tucson on particular vs the other models 🤔 have you made sure you have the latest software offered? Google Hyundai navigation update to check on their website
@@CarConfections Guess what? I checked the update site this morning and the 2023 Tucson update had been released in the past couple of weeks. I updated the vehicle this morning and lo and behold - the Android Auto screen now can use the full display! Fantastic! It also got rid of that stupid vacuum tube display for the radio and SiriusXM - much better.
Awesome! Thank you, actually i already was in the settings page but didn’t found where they are. The hint to disconnect the device hit the spot! Sadly there is no shortcut to toggle fullscreen mode… 😢
Thanks for the information And I was try to replace the hall unit in the car Than I find somebody say there is a unit just connected to the car ok So is it work old model of Hyundai car 2015 Thanks if I get reply🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
If you search 'Hyundai updates' on Google, it will take you to a website where you can see if there is a software update available to you. If you follow the steps and this doesn't work, then you likely need to update the software first like I had to
So got a question? I just did the update to my 21 Sonata. In the update, it mentions that Android Auto is now wireless. I followed the prompts and it won't work wireless. Then I see you're using a wire? So does wireless android auto not work with the update?
Doesn't seem to work for me. The toggle is ALREADY OFF in the phone projection settings (to allow split screen) but this isn't reflected in my actual screen's performance, which continues to display the music and maps side-by-side, with the only option being which one do I want closer to the driver. Android Auto version 9.9.xxxxx, 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5.
I recently bought the ottocast u2-x pro for my 2022 telluride. It's more apple carplay based (so to get rid of the split screen, do what he just did, but for carplay only), but supports both AA and carplay. I didn't have to update the system to get the full screen. It was around $150 and took about 20 days to arrive (ships from Hong Kong). The only thing I did was update the dongle for Android Auto from my phone. You'll need to be in the car while doing it, and it takes about 10 minutes. It works well, and sound quality is better. The only down side is the it takes about 1 minute to connect for both operating systems, and using the wireless charger doesn't help to keep your phone charged... It does drain it. Overall, it's nice, but plugging it in is faster and keeps your phone charged up. Wireless for short trips, wired for long hauls.
Hey, thanks for this info. Do you know what software version you are on? I recently had a software update applied from the dealer, but I don't think it applied the change you're seeing :(
I got my 2023 Hyundai Tucson hybrid SEL/with convenience package at the end of December and I tried this hack and it still shows the split screen, what do I need to do to get rid of it?
There were some 2023 Hyundais that shipped with old software (not even the April 2022 version that allowed Android Auto to utilize the entire screen), and also came out so late they also weren’t even eligible for the fall 2022 update. So if you’re using Android Auto, the first navigation system update that applies to your car and that allows AA to use the entire screen is the new May 2023 version. Run that.
@John Bruesewitz Thank you for the info, I downloaded the update the other night and installed it yesterday morning and it worked perfectly, I love having google maps full-screen and now if I wanna see my music app it doesn't decrease my map to only 1/3 of the screen like it used to!
Thank God for your video. I couldn't stand this idiotic split screen (is there anyone who liked it?). Now if this dang system in a 22 Telluride would just have a wifi modem and built in wireless... Thanks again!!!
Tried this on my 2024 Forte, it defaults to split-screen not selected but still always shows the map on the right side. I can go full screen on Google Maps only.
Why did i dont have this option, I've a Hyundai I20 III 2021, the model of screen is G5W navigation. Do i have to make an update ? (Last update is from 02/18/2022)
This was available for quite some time not a software update issue. I have had full screen apple car play capability in my 2021 hyundai sonata since i bought it new.
They added Android Auto later and it did need a software update for this 2021 Sonata. Not for sure if we did or didn't have support for CarPlay prior because the setting is pretty obscure
