Daniel, if you put the first one back into the mold and add a black background, you may just like it more. It loses the colour without the background. If you don't want to waste resin on an idea that may not work, you could try black nail varnish, or black paint brushed onto the back.
Hi all, I know we can get similar effects with film or the glove technique I have shown before in #131 but with this, we have more control over the design, I'm thinking we can use this to shape some crazy hollow details into some pieces. I think the epoxy idea would work also but only on top of the lotion, not the other way around 😊 This is also very handy for if your molds have lost their shine, no need to worry as the lotion will be there 😊😊
Really loved the design with the lotion on the back, using a fine squeeze bottle is a great idea the control the design. The black back coat made the iridescent powders really show up. I think you may have a winner here.
Daniel, I love to see how you mind is working. I don't think it ever stops. Always trying different methods and different ingredients. I just can never wait to see what you come up with. Thank you for all the experimenting you do.😍🤗💞💙
I think I've been waiting with bated breath to see what you do next with UV resin! I love how your creative mind works! This made me wonder if one could take silicone caulking and and swirl a design into it. Let it dry and gently place it into the uv resin, curing and then removing it. Then using Crome powders with a black background to create a galaxy affect.

@@daniel..cooper no problem I came for the epoxy and got into the movie reference. Love the technique though. Do you think it would work with non uv artists epoxy resin 🤔🙂
Actually I looked up the movie reference and it is a Jame grum quote. I had not seen this movie for about fifteen years back when I was thin. It's a lot creepier now that I am an overweight middle aged woman. But then autogynophiles who are albeit more socially acceptable than I am these days are as dangerous to xx individuals as they were then. I can't imagine Anthony Hopkins playing an autogynophile who tans and tailors overweight women to cross dress with. His character was already in prison for killing and eating his victims. So while I can imagine Anthony Hopkins playing a character who takes "trophies" he's too refined to wear them afterwards. Especially when he also played c s. Lewis. Quite an actor that one.
This will definitely take the place of a water effect inlay on my coasters, this would be fantastic, more waves less waves, whatever I want thank you thank you thank you! ❤you’re a genius
The first ones look like a water ripple texture. With a blue coat of resin, it might look pretty cool. This technique opens up a whole new realm of possibilities, though. Super interesting.
Something else to try... I put a little silicone ball in the mold to create a pocket of open space...for charms etc... Trick is the ball is 1/2 immersed in the resin...then clear tape (doubled over for no sticky side) to put a thin backing on it
Boy, you have been having a lot of fun trying different things. Bet you had to do some cleaning to get the baby lotion all cleaned up. I like the one with the cavity on the back the best. 😊
Oh Daniel!!! You genius you!! Absolutely stunningly gorgeous ❤ Another great experiment from you. Thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful talent and videos with us all ❤Take great care and please tell my delivery driver to hurry up. Waiting for a large delivery of wonderful fun things to experiment and play with today. ❤
Daniel, I have to tell you that you have been a blessing to me and I’m sure others. It seems I got old when I wasn’t looking (76) and collect different arthritis ailments leaving my stamina, neck and hand strength less that desirable. But! You have shared so many fun short projects that I can handle a little at a time and I am so grateful. My latest was the lotion on top of the resin only I used the thick clear hair gel. Worked like a dream and just love it. Do you have a Facebook page where members can share what they accomplish? A note to others that may have the same problems I have. I have made sooo much jewelry and other items and don’t feel good enough to sell anymore. What I’m doing is giving to assisted living homes, etc. They need small gifts to give to family and friends and can’t go shop anymore. I’ve made book markers in lots of subjects, jewelry, keychains and more. Alway looking for ideas for the men if you can think of stuff. The homes use gifts for bingo and other game prizes too. I have also made table decorations for the dining rooms. Took lots to the AZ Veterans Home.. it is such a joy for me and so appreciated by the people. We all need to remember our Veterans and elderly that can’t get out. It is easy to feel forgotten. Thanks and blessing to you and your family.
Thank you so much Kim, I'm so glad the vids are helping. That is also very kind that you give your work away like that, it's amazing and must really brighten their day 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Your experiments have showed me so much. I would never even of thought of doing the things you do and everyone has been impressive. Thankyou so much 👏👏👏👍🤗
I did similar a couple weeks ago, but I put my lotion is in a smaller bottle. The lotion comes out like a noodle. After cleaning it off I used interference powder and used black mica for a layer on the back. I like your method better than my weird noodle texture!
Stop it! I don’t get home until tomorrow evening! I love them!!! I may try thinning the lotion a bit, but I honestly love how the (lotion on top) looks like a shattered heart!
Idea!?!... the 2nd one (with dropped the lotion onto and created empty voids in the final piece)... what if after cured, Color cavities with mica or cello flakes....adhere clear acetate over back using uv resin around edges as "glue"...fill syringe with colored liquid (baby oil?) to inject inside...return to mold...cover back with final coat of dark colored resin to seal! 💡💡💡
I thought you would brush on mica powder to the hearts then place them back texture side down onto the resin in the mould and create a crumpled fabric effect
Just when we thought we'd seen it all -- *baby lotion!* 😅 Daniel, I LOVE these effects -- both kinds! I *think* my favorite is the hollowed heart, but I was really wowed by the surface of #1. I'd probably resin the hollowed hearts together...maybe do a fill with something?
I love this idea! Especially trying to play with lotion on the back of the piece. I think instead of dropping it onto the resin with the risk of it sinking, you might try almost filling the mould with resin, then draw out a design with the lotion on a flat piece of translucent silicone you can then flip upside down and lower into the resin. With just enough resin in the mould, it might eliminate the air pockets while squishing just a thin amount out the sides (which can be easily cleaned up with some nippers or sanding). I wonder if the lotion will stay put or if it will flatten out a bit. 🤔 If it creates air pockets with a deeper texture, you could drop a little resin on the lotion/flat silicone side to eliminate air pockets but it could be fiddly trying to flip it upside down and place it correctly. Could look really nice though!
When you put in the resin first you could try not to put the lotion directly in but put it on a small flat sheet (Also silicon or maybe it works just with tape) make your pattern and put it in upside down. I made it this way with silicone stamps to have the pattern at the bottom and it works really well. Maybe with the lotion too. P.S. love your videos you always give me great new ideas 🥰
Love my heart from the dish soap with the holographic flakes, white backing then some purple galaxy and blue mica brushed on, then clear resin. Lots of new bubbles like you did on top, beautiful! My ultra thick hair gel was too thick but now I think it will work in place of the lotion. Love this effect!! ❤. Good thing I bought lots jdiction ! Tomorrow, tomorrow a new heart tomorrow. ❤❤❤
5:55 Hi Daniel. I’m only six minutes into your video & I feel compelled to answering your first question, even if it’s a rhetorical question. What I would do is either drill a hole into them to attach clasps to them, but jump rings through them or whatever else you may come up with, or I would drill a tiny hole in the top at the thickest part to put a screw in “eye” with a teeny tiny bit of UV resin to strengthen its fitting. I may do two, top & bottom or on each side. I would turn them into pendants, key rings, bracelets or earrings if you can make smaller ones. Maybe using a needle pointed bottle to squeeze in fine amounts of lotion into smaller mould shapes. And as for the limited part, what about adding tiny amounts of glitter? Or different transparent colours? Or using the needle nose bottles, putting in different coloured resins so that they gently blend into each other? Fine amounts of Mica Powder but it teeny tiny amounts. What about using different resins? Does it work with Jesmonite or other eco-pour resins? Like I said, I am only six minutes into the video.
I'm wondering if you just put a thin layer in the mold, up to the edges, and cure it before you put the lotion in, there should be no worries of it sinking too far... ... just a thought...

This opens up so many more possibilities. 😊

This is true Pauline, I will try and see but I wasn't fond of the glaze coat either, it took away some of the detail I think.
