He shows that with the happiness that comes with these relationships, there is also the pain of losing or harming them.
Finneas' Songs have something special that you can't find often. Call me clingy but it's true. Something's special about these songs. And his voice is so calming.

Finneas very much gives off nihilist vibes in some of his songs like he sarcastically asks if any of this really matters and in other songs is just full open book sincere and vulnerable.
I love this song so much, it got me obsessed with FINNEAS where previous music I’d heard by him did not grab me. i also think that the lyrics "if it's easy if it's fun something's missing" are really interesting. my initial thought was that that's a pretty pessimistic point of view on love, but after thinking about it a bit i realized that i agree. i think love is different for everyone, but if you feel a true connection with someone and you decide to spend a lot of time together (weither it's friends, family or a romantic partner) it won't always be fun and easy. to really be with someone it's inevitable to face your flaws and weaknesses, to reflect on your thoughts and feelings and to talk about personal things. nobody is perfect but no one can be good for you and you can't be good for someone else if you don't work on yourself. you have to realize, understand and face your emotions and weaknesses and learn how to react to them (for example jealousy). there will be fights and times where you hurt people and it's not easy to work on that. to realize why you acted that way and be open and vulnerable and try to become a better person, but you have to even though it's not fun. i don't think finneas means that love should never be easy and fun but it has different sides to it and it also requires a lot of work: on your own character, on your weaknesses, on how you communicate, on how you let your emotions control you etc i think if you want something real with the people around you it has to have sides that aren't fun. and with love comes also the pain of not only hurting them but also losing them eventually. these things are all tied and can't be avoided. if you love you'll feel pain. if you love it won't always be easy.
the album this song is from is such an existential crisis masterpiece. every lyric he writes is some of the deepest things said so simply cause he doesn’t need metaphors and pretty words to touch u. one of the best albums i’ve heard in a very very long time
THIS WHOLE ALBUM IS VERY REAL, LIKE ALL SONGS ARE REAL, SOME ARE FUN OTHER ARE JUST WAIT THIS IS TRUE. I honestly don't listen to this song a lot unless I want to cry, but the other songs ??? I listen to all of them, tbh the whole album is a no skip album

If music is meant to make you feel something, this was certainly successful. Even sonically it was heavy. It felt REAL, though. Now I need a palate cleanser so I don’t spend the rest of the day in the dark pit he just dragged me into. Might have to go for the polar opposite and listen to BTS Dynamite.
