@@annapg.4626 Actually no, if you look for the credits you'll find that it only lists finneas in the producer section and he actually talks about it somewhere, also his song a concert six months from now, kinda have the same vibe, billie did not produce this however she did direct the music video and I think you've just confused the two
To me, one of the most heartbreaking lines in this song is "never payed any mind to my mother or friends so I shut them all out for you cus I was a kid" it just shows how young she was, and how she was manipulated to blocking out her loved ones. I am so glad that she got out of that relationship and is happier (than ever) now
I don't really follow her career so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I saw somewhere that she said this was the most therapeutic song she's ever written, and that doesn't suprise me.

Her documentary The World's A Lil Blurry..gives background info on her relationship with a rapper named Q that treated her pretty bad..I love this song and this side of Billie..Lost Cause is cutesy but pretty savage too..
He really was crappy to her wasn’t he? She’s better off without him for sure.
The beginning starts off old Hollywood romantic with soft colors and lighting, and it’s even bright outside. But her clothes are dark and her shirt says “ I didn’t sell my soul”. And the song is like a torch song ( I got Patsy Cline vibes.). Her singing is soft but the lyrics are not. The water starts to seep in which I interpret as reality which, when Billie opens the door, floods in- the watershed moment of truth. When she breaks the surface it’s “ I don’t relate to you “ and she’s entered reality. The music ( distorted), the lyrics ( real and raw truths) and the surrounding ( dark) are now all in sync.
And without the first half the second half wouldn’t have the impact that it does.
It gives me goosebumps every time🙂

Isn't that how we all reacted to this song!! I love how the beats of the song represent the emotions one goes through after a break up or anything tough in life. Like, first she was sorta complaining about it in a calm way, then she was letting herself loose, started losing her temper, called the other person out on the shitty things they've done, but she tries in control herself ( the part where beat drops a little : "You ruined everything good.....") but in the end she finally EXPLODES!
The whole set was totally real. They have a behind the scenes you should check it out!!

If you know what Bossa Nova music is, you will understand & LOVE Billie's Bossa Nova. I grew up with a dad who loved this local jazz singer who put out a whole CD of Bossa Nova tunes...and the rhythm is perfect. The sounds are right. The theme is correct. It fits.
I remember hearing the entire album for the first time and every song it was like normal good Billie cuality but when I get to this song I was like dude this is the best song of her for sure!! Damn that's amazing yk
Thanks for the reaction/review. I like Billie's vintage ( perhaps early 1960's ) sounds, but I understand a lot of people don't. Each of the two halves is 2:29 long (about). Her slower, ballad-like songs "Getting Older", "Billie Bossa Nova", "Halley's Comet" and "Everybody dies" [ also "Your Power" ] - I believe - are beautiful, but her singing voice is subdued and restrained - opposite of so many artists! [Adele, Floor Jansen, Diana Ankudinova and many others] - but it's unique, authentic and conveys emotion. On Billie's channel "Billie Eilish" there is a video on the making of this music video (directed by Billie) "Happier Than Ever" (Making of the Video) August 6, 2021.
The start of this reminds me of songs from the old black & white movies if it was all that way I think I’d get tired of it but the switch up!!! Really goes with the mood of the lyrics - you start just letting out the small things that annoyed you until you get more emotional about all the shit you put up with.

This one’s about her ex boyfriend Q. He treated her horribly. Lead her on, never kept any of his promises, never cared about her or cared for her when she was upset about something, etc. There was one instance where she was upset about her Coachella performance and called him asking if he would come see her (obviously to help cheer her up) and he blew her off because he was partying with his friends. It was an extremely toxic relationship, so when it ended she wrote this song as a way to help herself heal. She put him on blast and it kicks ass lmao.

When I think of "diss track" I think of UA-camr "music" lol I think this is just a song about a relationship that ended and how she was treated poorly. All songs come from an experience and often that is heartbreak. People write about their life and what they've gone through and so I would consider this to be on a higher tier than a "diss track" lol I was pleasantly surprised by this song. I really like her music anyway, but this scratched that metal itch I always have lol I would love for her to do a solid death metal album! Some Cattle Decapitation type shit lol I think it would be awesome! BTW, this is such a great reaction channel. I love it. You don't stop the song every 2 seconds or have a 5 minute intro and you offer some great thoughts about the music.
