I would argue the MP-10 mold does still have quite a few things that win it a niche 1. It's a first party figure. Magic Square is clearly superior, as it's a heavy retool of this design, but for people looking for official products, those aren't on the table 2. It's one of the cleaner Optimus molds. While the Siege and Earthrise have it's fans, both suffer from compromises in the kibble department (same with PotP) 3. That said, I have my own fair share of critiicisms of the mold as someone who got it and MP-01 at the same time. While MP-01 is an exercise in overdoing things in Robot Mode to the detriment of Vehicle mode, it had a solid looking Robot mode with plenty of features like communicator on his wrists, a light up matrix chamber (back when Optimus having Matrixes was still revolutionary) a moving mouth-plate, and more articulated hands than MP-10, complete with a degree of a wrist bend... MP-01 was a flawed toy with a horrible vehicle mode, but MP-10 feels like two steps forward, one step back, including in posing oddly enough... Regardless of the fact MP-01 is so top-heavy, he has a full range of motion on his legs, while his arms are as good or better than MP-10..
I would not call the magic square a retool. It does share a VERY small handful of design elements, but 85% of that figure is completely unrelated to this at all. I find the legs on this look gnobbly enough to kind of destroy it's clean aesthetic. And those are some interesting points you brought up that I will have to ponder.

I actually used to have the Warbotron Bruticus. It was good and I liked it, but man the MMC Assaultus set blew that out of the water so hard I didn't see the point in keeping it, so I gave it away.
Finally someone who sees the visual problems of this figure! Every single time I say I like the general look (excluding the back) of MP44 so much more than MP10 I get so much flack because “it’s the best official Optimus Prime figure ever!”. But I disagree, neither the truck mode or the robot mode does it for me. The MP44 does, the problem is everything in between the two modes.
Hence why I say that the Magic Square, or TE are way better than the 44. The 44 looks right, but those look right and have the not horrible Transformations.
It would have been better than the figure they used for it, that's for sure, Especially since the SG version is more like the Classics Optimus that he is often depicted as.
This head sculpt is actually my favorite out of all the MPs that I know of. That said, I think I know what you mean by it looking a little off. I think the head is a little short. It is really weird to look back on something like this, that was considered basically perfect for the time, and realize just how off it actually was. This looks like the Vague idea of him, but not actually him.
I just saw that, I might consider it, but at this Point I think that the magic square Optimus is so much superior that spending $300 on the official masterpiece doesn't motivate me so much.
It's not the Japanese, it's Japan. If I ever go there people will have plenty of photo ops to film the Crazy American guy who just keeps kicking the dirt while screaming "Take that JAPAN!!!!"
I completely forgot about it, and honestly does it really matter. Everyone else ever has covered that thing. You don't need to hear about it again from me.
I always wanted to get this but it was either too expensive or I didn’t have any money at the time also can someone tell me the difference between nemesis prime and shattered glass prime?
Nemesis Prime is a Decepticon in our universe, and just an enforcer for Megatron though usually with more ambitions. SG Prime is the leader of his faction in an alternate universe, and if you get stuck there he's going to have his men hunt you down and murder you. Or he'll try to lead his army to invade your universe.
What's weird is it turned out I was right about that. There's a show called SSSS Gridman where they based the character designs of the humans on SG Transformers, and Evil Optimus became a School Girl with Big Tits, and had Magical Powers.
Idk, I personally find MP-10's head sculpt way more appealing than all the MP-44-style faces, that've been produced after the release of the later. They all just look so blocky and strange. I know, Prime did look like that in the show, however it never really stood out to me as much. I'm in the clear minority, as I hear all the people just praising MP-44 just for the head like it's the next big thing, but I find it ugly. Tastes differ I guess...
Let me get this straight, your brother got the normal one, which you didn't care for, but my video here, where all I did was basically complain, and then say it isn't bad but has no purpose... Convinced you to get one?
Looks good, too expensive though, and the Transformation is the same Cancerous thing no one likes from the normal one. Also I don't know if the Nemesis Prime works for a hyper G1 accurate design. He's never looked like that before.
I feel differently about Japanese transformers, during the 80s and 90s Japanese transformers was noticeably different, and more held back than Japanese transformers is now, yes there where some very out there super robot anime moments, but they where nowhere near as prevalent than say in galaxy force/cybertron, armada and energon where kinda the last 2 Japanese shows to not have the super robot inspiration, and even then energon began to lean into it near the end
This figure crossed over with both Ghostbusters and Evangelion. They seriously made so many versions of this mold.
It is the best version of mp Optimus prime so I understand
@@soundshock9357 Has it stood the test of time? Not really. Is it still a good figure? Hell yes

Now that I think about it, Swaptale, a great-ass Undertale fan-universe, has a ton of similarities with Shattered Glass.
It could be they are fans of transformers, or it could just be that the trope is that predictable of the evil alternate universe.
@@PerspectiveEnd Hmm...
You may have a point.
You might like that they are doing a 3.0 shattered glass Optimus
I just saw that, I might consider it, but at this Point I think that the magic square Optimus is so much superior that spending $300 on the official masterpiece doesn't motivate me so much.
Are you going to check out any of the new shattered glass figures?
I bought them all, separate, then Hasbro had some kind of Glitch fit, and they just refunded them one after the next and now I have none of them.
@@PerspectiveEnd oof I'm really sorry to hear that
What should a shattered glass Optimus be like
I could never afford a masterpiece but I agree with you trailer for Optimus Prime is only worth displaying with huffer in his vehicle mode
I wouldn't say never, there are affordable ones out there, but if you'd rather get more Generations figures than an MP then that's your choice.
@@PerspectiveEnd + The market in the UK is very limited and it comes to masterpiece
I can imagine Perspective end at an international airport getting to kick a Japanese and shout: I'll never forgive the Japanese!!!
It's not the Japanese, it's Japan. If I ever go there people will have plenty of photo ops to film the Crazy American guy who just keeps kicking the dirt while screaming "Take that JAPAN!!!!"
I think the head is a little too wide, that’s what I noticed anyway
It could be that, or by extension it could not be long enough.
Very nice that you included the matrix in the review
I completely forgot about it, and honestly does it really matter. Everyone else ever has covered that thing. You don't need to hear about it again from me.
Any new toyhax you will be picking up also what is your favorite incarnation of Megatron mine has to tfp Megatron
Not as of yet. I like probably the IDW version the most followed by the G1 version. If we are counting BW Megatron as not counting for this question.
So it seems that mp-10 and mp-01 have the same issues with below the waist.
Never had an MP01 so I'm unsure what you mean.
@@PerspectiveEnd i got an mp-01 the legs are horrible
@@warspartian2447 What's the issue with them?
@@PerspectiveEnd knees are way too fucking loose
Already?
Already what?
What do you think shattered glass you would act like
Hey I have a question have you done a review for your mp soundwave
Yes, but I should redo it. It's one of my earliest videos and it's also one of my if not MY shortest videos.
I love the shattered glass comics
The new one's or the old ones?
I always wanted to get this but it was either too expensive or I didn’t have any money at the time also can someone tell me the difference between nemesis prime and shattered glass prime?
Nemesis Prime is a Decepticon in our universe, and just an enforcer for Megatron though usually with more ambitions. SG Prime is the leader of his faction in an alternate universe, and if you get stuck there he's going to have his men hunt you down and murder you. Or he'll try to lead his army to invade your universe.
Finally a review for purple prime
Purptimus Prime? Optimus Purp. Purplemus Purm?
There is this awesome store at my local flea market that has him complete in box so do you think I should get him?
I really want fries right now
But why?
2:02 - 2:27 bro had it out for Japan when it came to Transformers.
What's weird is it turned out I was right about that. There's a show called SSSS Gridman where they based the character designs of the humans on SG Transformers, and Evil Optimus became a School Girl with Big Tits, and had Magical Powers.
Damm
You must be high this figure is dope
I didn't say it was bad. I'm just saying there are better Optimuses out there.
Well the good news is the Best prime on the Market the MS has very similar head structure to this, so you get everything you want with that figure.
My brother got the toys are us one and I wasn't impressed.but you sir convinced me to get this
Let me get this straight, your brother got the normal one, which you didn't care for, but my video here, where all I did was basically complain, and then say it isn't bad but has no purpose... Convinced you to get one?
2:05 Cough,cough Gridman
Hallo perspective, what is your opinion on mp49?
Looks good, too expensive though, and the Transformation is the same Cancerous thing no one likes from the normal one.
Also I don't know if the Nemesis Prime works for a hyper G1 accurate design. He's never looked like that before.
Is the head not quite right, or is it the weirdly long neck the problem?
The head is kind of squat yes with a lot of neck for its size. It's not a Bad Approximation, but it's not right for sure.
I could definitely see Japan making a waifu transformers anime take the legends comics for example
Absolutely. I'm not crazy for coming to this conclusion.
Will you get kingdom sideswip
Quite Possibly.
PerspectiveEnd you know it’s nice to see the person who made the vid respond to comments that’s one of the reasons I love ur channel so much
It's effort to respond to hundreds of comments a day but it's worth it.
PerspectiveEnd well I hope it’s worth it that probably takes awhile
I feel differently about Japanese transformers, during the 80s and 90s Japanese transformers was noticeably different, and more held back than Japanese transformers is now, yes there where some very out there super robot anime moments, but they where nowhere near as prevalent than say in galaxy force/cybertron, armada and energon where kinda the last 2 Japanese shows to not have the super robot inspiration, and even then energon began to lean into it near the end
I mean there was Super God Masterforce where the Characters were all human's who could turn into super powered robots.
What's the best soundwave?
The Masterpiece it's not even a contest.
