Slight correction: Soundwave _did_ turn into a cassette player in Fun Pub Shattered Glass. His original body was based on the Music Label Soundwave, and it wasn't until later that he took on the Ironhide body (though weirdly, it would still be a couple years before that became a toy).
Basically when FunPub had to give Soundwave a convention exclusive body is when they gave him that Ironhide build, where as before that he was given a form based on am existing figure.
Classice SG did quite a bit of that, basing characters off of existing toys.
Another great example being how SG Elita One is literally just Cybertron Override GTS.
I do like how IDW SG remembered one thing from FunPub SG:

The Slicer part makes me so made cause Hasbro is not treating him like other obscure decepticons they're just treating him like "oh he was always a shattered glass autobot"
What’s sad is that “G1 Slicer” is EXACTLY how Fun Pub would do SG Slicer. Basing his colors on Armada Wheeljack would be brilliant… if it was actually SG Slicer!
Remember when Funpub made it so Shattered Glass Wheeljack and Action Master Slicer actually knew eachother and actively used their identical appearances to mess with people.
I disagree about the Hasbro toy-driven story having to be a bad thing. A good writer would have taken the Hasbro-designed toy and made that into a plot point. For example, Goldbug is somehow forced into a smaller body, which he hates, and then cool stuff happens. Like you said, necessity is the mother of invention. Also, I had a turkey wrap from Arby's for lunch.
To be fair to the new SG Goldbug I think he’s a decent evil Bumblebee in his own right. OG SG Goldbug “made it” and is now trying to protect himself, and the new SG Goldbug has also “made it” but NO ONE respects him. He’s the equivalent of the angry small guy who happens to be the boss of more intimidating guys. And I think that’s a decent inversion. Maybe not the most interesting one but I think a version I can appreciate.

@@jonathandelgado3755 I agree, I think there is a lot of interest potential in IDW's SG Goldbug. He might not be the best take, but there are still some interesting elements that one could build on, if you were telling a full story vs a series of connected one-shots.
I know he totally forgot how G1 cartoon and comic were exactly that. We even heard stories of how Hasbro would demand more characters to be added in group shots in the story boards.
It's insane how they managed to make a version of Shattered Glass that's both too serious, but still has no actual teeth.
In my opinion, it's because IDW only concept of character they understand is grim, depressed, asshole or any combination and shades of these 3. They can create some bright character but usually is just for the purpose of killing him off.

That's a good point about how their body design needs to compliment their personality. The toy for Shattered Glass Megatron, based on Siege Megatron, didn't work for me because that body still looks evil. Especially if you have him standing next to Shattered Glass Optimus - who looks evil enough on his own, but starts to look heroic in comparison to a fully armed, winged, imposing SG Megatron. I feel like a smaller, less battle-ready version of Megatron could've gotten the right vibe across instead.
The only problem is that there's not really many good molds to really make these characters work- there's also the problem of doing remolds.
SG Megatron's vehicle mode seems so tacky when given to a mold that doesn't have that specific vehicle mode in mind. However, I think this is more a symptom of the mindset they went into with this era of Shattered Glass- having these new personalities be straight inversions of the existing personalities, without most of the fun. This extends to the molds they used, which are basically retools/remolds of the existing molds these characters are based on.
I agree a lot with TJ's argument here- this version of Shattered Glass would have been better in many ways, if they focused on being creative with the molds, rather than doing "alternate universe" repaints.
That also applies to the (FunPub) SG Starscream, in that while the color palette is a heroic one, the overall design (being a Cybertron/Galaxy Force redeco) is probably THE most demonic and evil looking rendition of Starscream (barring Bayformers).
FunPub Grimlock was FUN. Even Rodimus was fun with him being The Starscream of that universe complete with goatee and Optimus Prime being reformatted by a good version of Unicron into Nova Prime!
Also I guess I'm part of the problem because even though I don't play Magic, I KINDA want those cards but I hate that the TF TCG got canned and we're getting this chase set of 15 cards when other IPs like 40K are getting dedicated decks!

I agree with that.
And the devs also claimed that the color scheme hasn’t been used before and is completely new. False, that’s armada Wheeljacks colors on a Wheeljack body.
I feel like hasbro pushing toys so hard really affected the normal comic too. Kind of made it so characters had to be ones with toys and they HAD to look like them. Constricted choice and style. Some of my favorite designs are IDW one because they are allowed to look so stylized and when toys came out that looked like them, I wanted them for that fact. Now its even more of a commercial lol
And the thing is that those stylized IDW designs WOULD have translated into toys very well because the designers (especially Alex Milne, Guido Guidi, and Don Figueroa) actually account for realistic transformations when designing robots and altmodes.
Maybe that also explains why our resident IDW specialists MMC and GCreation have also consistently produced great figures out of said IDW designs.
IDW's Shattered Glass is hit or miss for me. Characterwise I like their Goldbug, He was this nasty peice of work as Bumblebee who was a top dog, until nearly being killed by Megatron. Then he's only repaired by Ratchet becuase he had the parts (and SG2 makes Ratchet out to be a semi-decent who hates letting go of things) which basically leaves him a bundle of nuerosis and a desire to prove himself after being thrown away. Also, I fully believe that in-universe the sole reason his primary weapon is a BFG cannon, is becuase that's how Megatron nearly off'd him. I feel like the character they gave him DOES work with the Body Hasbro chose for him. He knows really well he's small and easily crushable, but over compensates for that.
Objection to SG Soundwave. FunPub's VERY FIRST use of him, used the Sonic White MP3 Body. And one of his offical toys, is G1 Soundwave in White and Blue. So you CAN'T rightly complain about 'everything is G1' when Soundwave was only a Van on Earth. But I feel you again kinda downplay IDW's SG Soundwave. He's essentually Three-Dog from Fallout. This tired, war-weary guy that is doing his damndest to put on a happy face and make sure everyone he can feels safe and relaxed. It's not the same, but its also not G1 Soundwave. I like they they made him an empath that can read the emotions of others. I like that he'll go out of his way, except in the most dire circumstance, not to leave leasting damage to any of his foes.
...I honestly prefer IDW's Ravage, how is still talkative and freindly, but not 'internet cringe' that was Willis' version. I'll give you the 'way too serious' vibe, but I'd rather have that over try hard 'hello fellow youngsters' take that is Funpub/Walky SG Ravage.
Mold wise, something IDW has no control over, I agree that one of my biggest annoyments is that everyone is just one of their normal molds reused. There is almost no creativity there. I get why some choices are made. SG Prime used Classics Prime, so of course he's just Earthrise Prime now. Starscream uses the Seige body to replace the Cybertron one, as they are both pyramid jets. Soundwave is the Netflix mold that is still highly wanted. Or SG Magnus using Kingdom Magnus rather then Legacy Prime; It saves them from having to do a Legacy Delta Magnus and have two Magnuses in roughly the same color out at roughly the same time.
Despite my comment above, I would have MUCH prefered waiting a year and maybe getting SS Ironhide as SG Soundwave, over even accepting the Earthrise version (since you can still let him mimic 'ejecting' cassettes with that mold). I like that they tried with Megatron to at least give him a new alt mode. Still would have prefered something else, maybe a heavy remold of TR Galvatron without the headmaster gimmick (similar to Crossovers Dracula). Use a Battlecharger, or Sunstreaker, for Goldbug then you at least have the same transformaton with bigger and/or more sporty body. I would have prefered if they used Siege Ratchet rather then Earthrise, give him a new crane gun weapon. He'd be almost spot on for the Botcon toy we never got.
You DO realize that Funpub admitted wholesale that their original vision for Shattered Glass was MUCH more serious, until 'Shattered Expectations' the 'haha got you' april fools joke comic was a smash hit, yes? And It sounds like you've not read Slicer's issue by how you describe Ratchet, becuase guess what? He also hordes body parts, its not quiet the 'mad scientist' angle, but when you talk up that bit which is something we actually see IDW Ratchet do as well?
Slicer: I blame Funpub. There WAS no SG Wheeljack toy. We got 'Slice' instead. Yes, Funpub does a story explaining that. But if you're just looking at "what toys did Funpub do" well Slice shows up as SG Character. So we got Slicer from Hasbro. But IDW Seems aware of the story side, since He's an Autobot rather then a Decepticon like the toy. The writer states that Slicer is Wheeljack, he just changed him name like Bumblebee did.
FLamewar: I feel you are overlooking the times where even Funpub just gave us 'G1 Character but evil." Like Jazz.
The whole Slicer situation miffs me because of just how wrong it is. That story would’ve made way more sense with SG Sideswipe.
And in the Flamewar comic I was basically screaming “Slipstream, YOU are in command! Get this malfunction under control before she gets you all killed!” And what do you know, Hailstorm got killed.
I do hope they continue with the toys however, I don’t mind that they’re G1 it makes the characters more accessible and I don’t have to spend >$100 to get them.
is there any new members of the wreckers never seen before in that comic? you know like sg tailgate, bumblebee, jazz, drift, and blaster who in other iterations haven't been a wrecker before????

One thing that might explain the more seriousness of the newer shattered glass comics is the fact that the original shattered glass was meant to be serious. However, due to a joke comic fun pub released before the first actual shattered glass comic becoming too popular, with fans, this caused fun pub to rewrite their story to make it more fun and wacky. So this new shattered glass might just be trying to recapture that original vision of shattered glass.
Actually, the joke comic was the first Shattered Glass story ever made, and ended up accidentally popularizing the concept itself. Shattered Glass was from its inception tongue and cheek
@@Cdr2002 no the joke comic was released first as April fools joke. FunPub had already revealed they were doing a mirror universe comic.
But because the joke comic was so well received they did minor rewrites of the actual first Shattered Glass comic to be slightly more comedic. But the comedy just became more used when they revisit the concept

It started off well but fell apart at the end. Optimus Prime went down like a chump. I don’t like it when bad guys are defeated or killed off way too easily.
Yeah, I feel lots of TF media is really trying too hard to be serious. And I get that there’s lots of our peers who HATE silliness in Transformers, but silly was an essential part of the brand since day one! Silly can be fun! And the recent IDW reboot universe (SG and normal) is soooo not fun.
I think a shattered glass Slicer could have worked with Armada Wheeljack’s color scheme. Leave the original colors to positive universe Slicer and shattered glass Wheeljack. Or y’know SG slicer could just have g1 Wheeljack’s colors but Armada Wheeljack’s would stand out more.
I like shattered glass best when they flip morality instead of personality. Holding on to G1 bodies is part of that because when they change the robot AND the personality, why is that bumblebee? We GET that in literally every new piece of media. It needs to stay true to the character so it's recognizably them and not another character they gave the name. A G1 nega-verse has to still ask "what if G1 but..."
Is there some kind of old theme that you'd wanna see them revisit? Shattered Glass seems to have left people more divided than anything, but maybe there's something else in TF history that people would like to see attempted again.
4 minutes in and I had the exact same problem with IDW Shatteted Glass.
Only I first noticed it with Megatron when he got into a fight with Prowl, only getting bailed out by Optimus. It felt WAY too much like how TFP Megatron would have handled the situation, and way too mich like the typical Optimus move to bail him out.
I had my mom’s flat stone grill “smasgburgers” which are two patties with a slice of cheese in the middle it’s delicious
a cinnamon roll recipe:
Ingredients
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
FILLING:
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, melted, divided
FROSTING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
Dissolve yeast in warm milk. In another bowl, combine sugar, butter, eggs, salt, yeast mixture and 2 cups flour; beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky).
Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Punch down dough; divide in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll 1 portion into an 11x8-in. rectangle. Brush with 2 tablespoons butter; sprinkle with half the brown sugar mixture to within 1/2 in. of edges. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Cut into 8 slices; place in a greased 13x9-in. pan, cut side down. Cover with a kitchen towel. Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°.
Bake until golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
For frosting, beat butter, cream cheese, vanilla and salt until blended; gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar. Spread over tops. Refrigerate leftovers.
I can't say that I've ever picked up any Shattered Glass related books, though the idea sounds interesting on paper. I do like the images I've seen of alternate colour schemes associated with the Shattered Glass verse.
Also, on the fence between a burger and pizza.
IDW SG is what happens when someone writes a trope without truly experiencing it beforehand.
I hope this toys continue, the comics are just a bonus for me, thou I hoping for a updated SG Rodimus from the Kingdom Rodimus mold, the Power of the Primes version is ok but it's not really the greatest of figures compared to others!!
The design is one thing. The personality is another. I agree with you. Maybe a shattered glass hard reset is what is required.
The one that I think really works is Goldbug. He’s scheming, paranoid, overconfident, unnecessarily cruel and brutal. Turning one of the nicest Autobots into a menace to everything in a 5 mile radius is perfect. I agree with one thing though, use the fact that he was blown to bits by Megatron. He’s sick of every average soldier literally looking down upon him. To go with this, he’d be at least as tall as a normal Deluxe character, maybe even make him almost as big as Optimus. Shattered glass can be out there, the humor just comes from everything being flipped!
The best thing to come outta “shattered glass” was Bug Bite and his backstory. Everything else was whatever but a Gobot infiltrating the Transformers universe bent on revenge is fascinating and meta as hell.
Funnily this shaterred glass tries to be serios by killing a ton of known and unknown characters so that "you know the stakes are high" its literally the krillin always dies meme
I have really enjoyed the comics this far, there's an element of Game of Thrones to it, not being able to predict what happens next. Slicer, based on my favorite character Wheeljack, has been the highlight of my readings. He's a double spy, so it's not out of the question that his real name is Wheeljack. Slicer is also a fantastic figure.
All that said Megatron is not likable, but I think it has a lot to do with the writers basing his character off the figure. The figure has his normal evil scowl and does not look Heroic at all.
I consider Fun Publications SG Wheeljack and IDWs SG Slicer to be two different characters.
In order:
1. I haven't read the comics, so I unfortunately can't form an opinion. But I totally get where you're coming from.
2. I do not have a cinnamon roll recipe, sadly.
3. I did not have a fight with her.
4. I had bean burritos for lunch today.
I think the problem is they went to strict on doing G1 molds for them and not retooling another mold into them. Like imagine if they did Gold Bug SG out of Runamuck? Or Sideswipe? Something new. They can keep Prime as Prime but other characters have room to move
I like the comics, and I do want to see the arc finished.
Meaning no cliffhangers.
But I certainly wouldn't mind if future SG waves didn't have any comics included.
I don't need them. I just want the plastic.
SG2 #5 more or less wraps up the main plot, with no cliffhanger; but leaves an open door for more stories; and even hinting that Prowl might be the main villian of a 3rd series; which makes sense as he's the last of the 'Big 3' that the IDWSGverse mentioned. Of course with IDW losing the license, who knows if series 3 will have comics?

Dough:
- 3/4 cup whole or 2% milk
- 2 1/4 tsp quick rise or active yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 3 cups bread flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
Filling:
- 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 tbsp butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1: Warm milk to around 110° F. Transfer warm milk to the bowl of an electric mixer and sprinkle yeast on top. Add in sugar, egg, egg yolk and melted butter. Mix until well combined. Next stir in flour and salt with a wooden spoon until a dough begins to form.
2: Place dough hook on stand mixer and knead dough on medium speed for 8 minutes. Dough should form into a nice ball and be slightly sticky. (If it's too sticky, add in 2 tablespoons more bread flour.)
3: Transfer dough ball to a well-oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and a warm towel. Allow dough to rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. This may take more or less time depending the humidity and temperature in your home.
4: Transfer dough to a well-floured surface and roll out into a 14x9 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough, leaving a 1/4 inch margin at the far side of the dough.
5: In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Use your hands to sprinkle mixture over the buttered dough, then rub the brown sugar mixture into the butter.
6: Tightly roll dough up, starting from the 9-inch side and place seam side down making sure to seal the edges of the dough as best you can.
7: Cut into 1-inch slices, discarding the edges if needed.
8: Place slices in a greased and parchment paper lined 9x9 inch baking pan or round 9-inch cake pan. Cover with plastic wrap and a warm towel and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
9: Preheat oven to 350° F. Remove plastic wrap and towel and bake cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes or until just slightly golden brown on the edges. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before frosting.
10: In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and fluffy. Spread over cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.

I enjoyed the first latest IDW series; I’ve not yet grabbed the second. (Amazon has really fluffed up ComiXology.)
I think the current run is a kind of disorienting ‘What If..?’ where we’re familiar with the characters, but we’re not. I like it, because it’s more restrained and more subtle than Fun Pub.
The SG Starscream is on my radar, and I might be tempted by the Jetfire to go with him. Hm.
I don’t like the Ultra Magnus Laser Prime was right there hasbro why wouldn’t you use it
The biggest fumble of the new SG figures is that they had the Laser Prime mold to use for Ultra Magnus and used his kingdom version instead
I've never really been into the comics and mostly just like Shattered Glass for the colorschemes, but here's some engagement for the algorithm. I do like Abominus-colored Computron and would totally buy a giftset of that though,
I laughed for a solid 2 minutes seeing shattered glass Ravage
As a Magic player who is also into Transformers, I was excited for the cards. I didn't like that they were 1. Put into a standard set with only the most expensive packs guaranteeing at least 1 per pack, 2. That in the only other pack they're available in it's like a 1/20 chance, 3. That they're unique cards and not reprints with new skins (like the Godzilla and Dracula cards.
Umm, Actually… Star Trek's original series episode was called Mirror, Mirror. In that episode the morality inversion was the was that they did it.
Yeah, Spock was still driven by logic in the Mirror universe (almost like Shockwave's normal "personality", lol). He wasn't an emotionally-driven character that abhors logic. Kirk was still brash, confident and emotional. Pointing out the flaws in Mirror Spock's logic and motivation is how the original crew are able to resolve the episode.
Correct but his morality was still opposite that of Spock from the Prime universe.
@Brian Russell Right, that's what I meant by him not being driven by emotions, which would be a total inversion of his personality. "The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many", so to speak.
I have had the same issues with this line! They are so stuck on the evergreen design concept and it’s really hurting Shattered Glass! Also the IDW comic feels almost like I should be rooting for the Autobots? I don’t get why they are so focused on! Also I don’t get why they haven’t played with concepts like - if Jetfire will have his “Armor mode” then why not make it as Jetfire is a Double agent for Megatron? His Armored Mode is a warlord under Optimus, cruel and merciless but really he’s gathering Intel for Megatron and his forces. And what’s crazier is there is source material for that! Check the “secret” of Cybertron Sky Shadow for proof.
But IDW SG weirdly feels too “safe” - like we can’t go too far away from the original story and concepts of the characters or else people might get upset! Which is a really bad approach to come at SG with.
Also I don’t care, SG Goldbug really looks terrible in the Bumblebee body. They try to make him look strong but I keep questioning “why doesn’t Jetfire just punch him dead?” As Goldbug keeps threatening him… it’s not like this Universe really seems to have much of any bots following any moral code… Also Hasbro, SG Prowl shouldn’t be the other rival warlord. We don’t want a Prowl, we want Rodimus! Give us the backstabbing Rodimus!
Goldbug being this amazing warrior goes pretty much hand in hand with his current day portrayal since the Bay films. I HATE Bumblebee being essentially a "better" Hot Rod. Bumblebee is a mini spy who gets in other his head and screws up.
Luckily Goldbug and Jetfire's relationship in SG ends suddenly ... if you don't know yet, I think you might enjoy it.

I think this just goes to highlight a much bigger issue with the franchise right now which to put it shortly, lack of originality

I think part of what contributes to IDW2 taking itself too seriously is that we as a fandom gave them that reputation by lauding IDW1 as the serious and dark transformers iteration, so now they’re trying to be “the serious transformers comic” on purpose, not in the same way of IDW’s lesser and more edgelordy stories, but more an intent to replicate the tone of say, Megatron Origin for lack of a better comparison.
Since Optimus Prime is originally a mind sharing three bodies that heals his cammarades on battle SG Optimus Prime could have Roller and Trailer being traitors turn into slave components, and instead of repairing his soldiers he could use the trailer to sap them of energy to fuel SG Optimus Prime, also SG Prime could be a mold of an Optimus that combines instead of the standard heroic silluete mele oriented G1 style Optimus. On Megatron case I think a good inversion could be add to him components that aids his soldiers in the same way Optimus' Roller and Trailer does for the good autobots. Megatron could turn into a big plane or a flying truckesque ship, something that screams flagship vehicle, something that could be on front of the troops.
I realize that this shattered glass isn't gonna be the same but funpub just got it so right. It's nearly impossible to match it.

As a Transformers fan who is also a Magic player... there had to be a better way of releasing these cards. A pair of Commander decks with Optimus Prime/Metroplex vs. Megatron/Trypticon?

they don't print 2 faced cards in commander decks and I don't know why. You would also have to have 4-5 decks for a set so why not go beast wars for the other 2. optimus primal/ optimal optimus vs megatron trex/ megatron dragon

I haven’t read that much of the original funpub but just that original oneshot issue gave so much character to actually seperate the alt universe versions from the normal universe.

Yes the book is missing "something". Megatron was the biggest disappointment form me. Just as grumpy and aloof as ever just without murderous tendencies. He's like a bored lobotomized Megatron. I also felt the sameas you about Slicer (g1 Decepticon playing an evil autobot?) I didn't even even notice the other bots personilty issues until you pointed them out but you are right. Yes I think its the farce that Ds9 had. Its not a bad thing if written well its still believable. Transformer personalities are often based upon extremes.
I think the real problem is how IDW are using Shattered Glass to justify their views on the Autobots and Decepticons. A bit of a stretch but as far as their comics are concerned, the Autobots are the good guys but are very flawed and corrupt in some areas while the Decepticons are meant to be misunderstood bots who have good intentions but go over the line and have no standards. I could see the idea they're going with, but I believe they executed it poorly. Now, with Shattered Glass, what they've done is take that notion they had with their run of the Transformers comic books and outright justify it with Shattered Glass, now the Decepticons not only have good intentions but are also the good guys and are rebelling against the Autobots who are about order but doing so in the most corrupt way and since they're the bad guys, they would of course do that.
This way, it literally is just the factions switching sides and nothing else. Nothing to their personality changes, just where they stand in Good and Evil. Compared to the original G1 and it kinda does feel like a proper mirror universe but coming out right after their run on Transformers and it feels like they were given the green light to portray the Decepticons as the good guys they intended and vice versa without having to be reminded of their original default morality.
Well I think these SG Autobots are more sadistic, but when it comes to the motivations of each faction, they do look basically like how IDW has portrayed the Autobots, just basically how it would happen IRL. It is kind of annoying with making the Autobot government corrupt while the Decepticons who’ve had hard lives become brutal and tyrannical. The fact Decepticons return to the age of conquest was because the only era of equality in the past was when everyone was making a Cybertron Empire really robs the Decepticons of their sympathy. It’s kind of why I like IDW 2019 more despite the richness, complexity, and hilarity of the first IDW Continuity. While the Autobots are a stagnant government still, they definitely come off as the good guys who just need a few changes to make a utopia. I think it also hurts the comic that it’s a mini-series. With such a large main and supporting cast crammed into a few issues, characters important to the story are going to feel like background characters.
I actually disagree with goldbug, they aren't trying to make him menacing, Optimus and the rest make fun of him quite a bit and like to mock him, he tries to make himself menacing because of his Napoleon complex
I read the pack-in SG comics with as much intrigue as the IDW2 reboot.

You are right IDW's current writer IDW's latter years, IDW is taking it self too sericeous. IDW's Shattered Glass feels sterile and the Fun Pub had a chaotic bite to it.

This isn't a light your darkest hour moment this is a it's all gone the dark is just getting darker he doesn't have a matrix of leadership to light the way. This is exactly what I'd expect normal optimus to do in the same situation wait in exile until change happens.
As far as the MTG TF cards go, I got 15 of them, non foil, for only 30USD from my LGS. They seen not nearly as shorted as some people think

One of the issue I have with modern comic writers is that they're all so serious, like their afraid that someone will think comics are for kids (not "only for kids", that kids in general should be able to read them with the adults), that they can't write anything fun. I don't think they know how to have fun. They think being all serious and grimdark is the way to win over peers and get an Eisner, the only things they really care about.

I gotta disagree but respect your opinion TJ personally I dont mind it being a morality shift, however that doesn't mean I don't want the whole personality change as that is far more entertaining but the reason why I dont mind it only being morality shift as it shows the characters if they had walked a different path well atleast in the just the decepticons as optimus barely shares anything with main counterpart and the rest of the autobots barley resemble their main counterparts other than appearance other than ratchet is his like slightly more grumpier than normal ratchet in shattered glass but it's like why even have him be in autobot in the first place it just doesnt make sense which is why I also agree that a complete personality change is needed and would be more fun as in fun pub as if remember correct fun pub sg ratchet was full on mad doctor and frankensteined bots but in the case of starscream as he still has some of that arrogance and coneving intelligence and his friendship with jetfire is something I like and a good reference to G1 as it really makes you think what the main starscream could have been and megatron in idw I find them very entertaining as you can still see the aspects of their main counter parts there just not evil anymore as megatron has fallen into state of despair kinda like idw1 megatron did after disbanding the decepticons and with how he is still protesting the senate you can see the similarities where as main megs lost himself and became the thing he fought to get rid of while SG megs stuck to his original vision and after the decepticons defeat in shattered glass seeing him fall into that state compared to how good optimus would be never give up and have a charismatic speech inspiring the autobots and fight even past his last breath its so intresting to me as I can imagine SG megatron interacting with Main Optimus and Optimus just giving him the greatest pep talk ever and I mean full on Rocky Balboa inspirational speech style but that's just me and I completly get where your coming from and if they do shattered glass again It'd be nice to see Paladin starscream and super compassionate megatron another day honestly I'll just be happy if we get another good attempt at shattered glass

I love their abilities, made a whole deck around them, printed sleeves for them for personal use with some art from DA...I am totally fine with your opinion on the books, but the cards are flavorful, great art, and almost all of them are relatively strong. Maybe not Flamewar...but everyone else is fine.

I felt the og ratchet fits better for Preceptor. This Ratchet is traumatized from the war and is trying to build a unkillable auto bot.
Blaster and soundwave switched roles. G1 soundwave was more offecive one.

I don't understand, IDW did MTMTE and lost light, which is both funny, over the top, serious and mature. Wonder why they couldn't do shattered glass well.
The first 5 comics were OK at best, but the second 5 were garbage. It was like Earthrise where they had loads of characters to stick in and the story is just awful and just doesn't work. Goldbug was just a rubbish character in the IDW one. I enjoyed the Fun Pubs SG a lot more. It seems like there may well be a Titan coming in SG soon as well.
To be honest I'm getting some of the SG line for the figs first, the comics are a nice bonus.

Why does SG soundwave cost the same as a LEADER AND A HALF
The comic book and the extra cassettes are part of it, but it's definitely hard to see the value unless you're used to limited production runs. Something like SG Soundwave was made in far fewer numbers than a retail figure, ups the production cost, ups the price when it's for sale.
I thought the story behind SG Slicer was that he was shunted into the SG universe from the main universe hence why Slicer is present instead of Wheeljack, the Decepticon from G1 killed the SG version of himself thinking he was a poseur or something after he was shunted/trapped in the SG Universe?
Or am I reading too much into it?
Personally I think the storyline is too reliant on the Titans again with Metroplex being the Macguffin that both Series 1 and 2 were all fighting over. I haven't gotten Soundwave yet so I don't know, but Pulse tried to ship it to me recently. Need to clear some funds to actually pay for the thing, it feels like I just got Slicer and Flamewar, Hasbro seriously did not stagger these releases very well for the product.
