The Pool, Sportsbook and Long Bar seem to be its main selling points, as well as being adults only. It's very nice and easily the most upscale place Downtown but I wonder if it will be left looking like a strip property dumped around Fremont Street if none of the other resorts does anything to compete? The selling point for Downtown has always been that it is cheaper and closer to 'old' Vegas than the strip.
@@Veaseify I've lived here for over 2 decades. When and if Vegas ever rebounds, downtown will still never attract a upscale demographic that's been the stronghold of mid and south strip. In the meantime, casinos on the Strip are closing, some have for good, layoffs are increasing, and we may be heading for another lockdown if the numbers keep increasing. Opening a casino with large crowds gathering at a very risky time is a recipe for a super spreader event. I think the timing spells an ill-fated attempt to attract the kind of demographic Circa hopes to attract and retain.
If I were an upscale tourist staying at Circa I'd confine myself to the hotel or strolling Fremont Street. I wouldn't be interested in visiting neighboring hotels - they'd appear older and run down by comparison. I'd feel trapped to the point where I'd have to make the trek to the Strip to expand my dining and gambling options. I think that's the marketing dilemma this property will face.
@@edward88881 Good point. Circa is the definition of the 'silk hat on a pig'. Someone spending that kind of coin isn't going to want to be imprisoned by the lower class of people and places that surround the property. When Vegas returns, everyone will want to be where the upscale shopping and entertainment is. I can't see it being a game changer. You'd have to spend tens of billions to tear down and revamp all of Downtown for it to sustain a higher end demographic and even then, it won't out-perform the number on the Strip.
Circa is amazing. We booked Golden Nugget and after our room getting burglarized we were ready to head home. Needing a place to stay the night, we walked to Circa and booked the night. The staff was so kind and security so great, we extended our stay and cannot say enough about how great this place treats their guests. This is the only place I ever plan on staying every time I come back.
Thanks for reminding me of the casino that was there before. I stayed there once and that's all I'm going to say about the place. It's nice to see downtown building again. I remember when you didn't really want to step off the main drag for fear of who or what was waiting.
Hi Shawn! Circa is gorgeous! I love the blend of the old school look of the lights on the outside which remind me of old Vegas; I love that Vegas Vickie is there. Her leg was actually kicking up on opening night, which was amazing! The Sports Book is stunning. Beautiful. Stadium Swim is breath taking, especially the sunset views that you showed us; thank you for that. When I get back to Vegas I am going to check it out. So very nice to see during this very difficult time of the Pandemic. Thanks so much Shawn! CAB 😊
I agree, the video is well-produced without being too slick (if too slick, it comes off as inauthentic). I just subscribed. Loved this video + the Circa likes/dislikes one. Great channel!
I can always count on you for a great comprehensive quality video tour. Best tour of Circa! I’m a Cal faithful, so maybe we’ll cross paths on the MainStreet sky bridge one day.
I'm a rideshare driver and I have been finding that more and more people for over a year now and even now, have told me they prefer downtown vs the strip now. They have told me the pricing is better, the walking isn't as bad compared to the strip and the gambling is better. They prefer to stay downtown and visit the strip vs the other way around.
Thank you for taking us along. Really a game changer for downtown. Love the escalator and the bar and sports book. Love the pools .“Toto, I don’t think we are in Kansas, anymore.”
I honestly prefer Downtown. The Strip is a tourist trap. Prices are generally cheaper Downtown and I find the energy a lot more festive. Esepecially the casinos.
Just stayed there the best part about staying there. No Kids The sports book is great. Stadium swim was a fun time it was a monday so it was slow most of the day but reallycame to life a couplehours before MNF. What was really good to see was the Plaza redeveloping their front entrance area. No doubt because of the additional foot traffic from Circa.
Just subscribed after seeing this video, very nice quality. Didn't know this place existed but I'm looking to book this place the next time I'm heading to Vegas, absolutely beautiful ♥. They should pay you for making this video.
That extremely long escalator that goes up to the swimming pool reminds me The TUBE in London. The Tube is sooo long going in and out of the London's subway system. Circa looks great!
Always went downtown any time we went to Vegas, and this will make that even more so next time we go. Hope it's soon. Thanks for posting, great video. JN
Shawn, Mark, Rick(?), Thanks for another super Miles To Memories video. Terrific attention to detail Shawn, from Garage Mahal shot day and night, to the history of the previous properties, the fantastic coverage of the Stadium Swim. I really enjoyed the sunset colors of the neighboring buildings' lights from the pool area. Also a nice note about table minimums. I guess I'll play across the street. Keep up the good work you two and I'll see you later. Steve
I haven't been here yet but friends of mine who have all say that it is almost like having a Strip-caliber hotel located downtown. From this video I can kind of see it.
Absolutely my release from COVID!! Built by billionaires as a playground for mega rich and the dwindling middle class!! Makes me feel good just watching and longing for normal to return
StadiumSwim is crazy cool. The only downside about staying at hotel on Fremont at is the noise. I stayed at downtown grand resort and the music from all the festivities were so loud and lasted till 5 am.
Wow looks fabulous..especially the pool. I would love to watch a football game on the pool area....$200 between 8 for the hire outs is sweet... Think even my family ( who are not football/ sports fan) would enjoy this are too. The carpets did look good..lol. Loved the lights and that UK phone box...🇬🇧 The views are amazing....sunset looked beautiful with lights coming on. Garage Mahal seems such an odd concept....let’s make “ a thing” of the car parking area... Looking forward to seeing the hotel rooms.. Bet they were gutted it wouldn’t be open the Christmas but I guess New Year is pretty cool... Thanks for a great video... Definitely a sports fans casino....👍👍
I never would have noticed THAT detail, having visited and did quite a few hours walk-through myself in early December (long after it was open - but before the hotel rooms and Legacy club and the Valet entrance facing California off Main Street/Ogden- still was under final touches and not open yet)... THANKS for these wonderful vids and commentary!
I’ve never been downtown. I’m thinking of staying here and using this as a base from which to visit the Main Street Station, the Golden Nugget and El Cortez.
Someone said it looked like a cruise ship and it kind of does. I’d look but that’s it. It lacks warmth to me with its design so I’d stay on strip or Nugget but many like that look. Great idea though!
I can definitely see the cruise ship comparisons. I also see your point about the lack of warmth. Either way it's good that Golden Nugget has a nice companion on that end of Fremont Street.
Yes I did! I'll have the tour and review of that within a week or so! I also stayed at Nobu so I need to figure out the scheduling but both of those are coming very soon!
A standard room during the weekdays is about $200 including resort fee. Sorry, the high-end clients who could afford this would not stay in downtown Vegas and the people who stay on Fremont Street cannot afford this! Basically, they built the RITZ CARLTON in the middle of Compton. The surrounding neighborhood cannot justify the high room rates!
Agreed but I do think it could work with lesser rates around Golden Nugget level. They also only have about 500 rooms to fill at the start which probably puts less pressure on them. Time will tell. Definitely a gamble on their part.
Ty for the laugh with your reference of Ritz in Compton. It seems like the risk is too high for my view to generate a profit at least for the hotel side. I do think though with live events and sporting once that is full swing it will easy be the hot spot for football / finals/ championships so forth. I am sure that is where they are banking but for non sporting event/night will be interesting after the hype dies down if they can keep those rates that high.
Another quality tour vid! Really appreciate your consistency. Do you know if there is a charge to park at Garage Mahal right now? And will it eventually be guests of Circa parking only?
The pending hotel room rates are on par with Aria. Hope they adjust. Well, they will, cause no one is going to pay that for Downtown especially since non-guests apparently will have pool access for a fee.
I believe the pool will be free for hotel guests, but I agree 100% that the rates are Strip level and it remains to be seen if they will be able to get those type of rates long term.
Parking tips - and you didn't mention how much it would COST to park in Garage Majal.....my 'tip' for parking is - if you're staying downtown, easy to walk to from your hotel (even as far as the "D" on the other end of the Fremont Street). 2. If you are a B-Connected member/Sapphire level player gets free parking at the California (I had to use this when I was not staying downtown). Finally- Stadium Swim is 'free' for Hotel Guests at any of their properties (The "D" and "Golden Gate")....I found out later after I asked.... so I did the same walkthrough mid-week, wasn't so busy up there, but will be whenever major sports are on TVs.... Was quite worth a visit. Thanks for reading, and I hope these tips help others.
They didn't have the sound on, but instead had music from a DJ. I believe during big games they will be able to have the audio from the game out there and the speakers are phenomenal.
Do you know if they will continue to charge $10 for Stadium Swim once the hotel opens, will hotel guest be free? And at what point do you pay, before or after the escalator, i would like to just ride the long escalator?
I believe access will be free for hotel guests and they will continue to charge. When we went you paid at the top of the escalator but I just heard from someone yesterday that it has now changed to the bottom of the escalator. I think they are figuring stuff out, so maybe they would let you ride it if you explained!
I didn't notice any noise leakage. There is music out by the pool which covers up any noise from Fremont and on Fremont I didn't hear any of the noise from Circa either. Who knows how loud the hotel rooms could potentially be though. Hopefully they give them really good soundproofing.
That roof top pool will likely get zero daytime business during the hot months, but once the sun goes down I guarantee it will be packed with partiers - what with the huge screens, gambling, cabana, heated pool water and I bet a booming sound system. Bring in some hot DJs and folks will party until the sun comes up.
Pure luck. An employee must have accidentally left it open so there were no signs saying not to go up there. I only found out it was off limits later when I tried to get up there and the elevator didn't work and the stairs were blocked too. An attendant had to let me and another lady who was in the same position up via the stairs. I think some of levels 6 & 7 are unfinished and one little quirk is the elevator has buttons for 9 floors but the top floor is #8.
Looks pretty nice, but it’s still downtown in a seedy dump. The resort fees are basically the same up and down the strip, so it’s more convenient and perhaps safer, than Fremont.
Do you think it lives up to the hype?
Initial hype and buzz will soon dissipate to reveal that opening this property was ultimately THE worst possible timing in the history of Vegas!
The Pool, Sportsbook and Long Bar seem to be its main selling points, as well as being adults only. How much is a standard room there?
