the maori not selecting research at the start isn't a bug, its a precaution of their start; you still generate the science, but this way you don't waste any research. like so if you start going down animal husbandry, but your starting city location has no pasture or camp locations, then its detrimental
Thatcher was the first PM to *not* receive an honourary PhD from Oxford. It was voted down due to her cuts to higher education spending.
She did however have a degree in chemistry from Somerville College, Oxford.
Therefore, Lewis=Thatcher
Yes I fact checked myself after the stream and realised I got this wrong!
@@SimonClark If you need an example of a leader with a PhD, I believe Angela Merkel has a PhD in Quantum Chemistry.
@@benjesterw she does! Though upon further research I learned that Gordon Brown also had a PhD before being PM
It is alot better seeing both of them pissed.
@@SimonClark Just not in economics
Predictions :
Daltos will troll them by increasing carbon emissions and sink Duncan' Lewis and Rythian's capitals. Any other predictions other than Lewis going for domination victory please add
lol! i love the idea of trolling others with climate change, so chaotic 😂😂
@@petraf2069 its funny to think it is a legit strategy to win
I predict that Rythian will cry every time an environmental event effects his civ
@@Chromaz The return of Crybabia
IDK about that...
People haven’t figured out writing yet but apparently can build a canal on par with the Suez
You'reThatMantis I think it’s a bug. It should be a little wooden canal.
@@niels6497 it's not a bug iv'e watched all the development livestreams and they never mentioned it.
@@Adumb_ It was a bug, it's a wooden canal on live before you hit classical era.
@@Sagittakaze It isn't a bug. The Maori start the game in the Classical Era because of Shipbuilding, and so coastal cities get that classical canal before everyone else.
Simon Clark is in this, how exciting!
I'm really liking the addition of him in more recent days into yogs content and especially some hatfilms stuff. Good personality and sort of feels like a good product of years of yogs content.
What is this a cross over episode?
who is this
Alpha Sutoraiku I saw his videos like a year ago, he did some cool in the life vlogs of a oxford PhD physics student, clearly he’s an intelligent guy so I’m guessing he’ll be good at Civ, especially if he’s played it before
Daltos is playing my country...... Oh god, why... our anthem is literally a prayer for mercy at long last, why do you do this?
Jó látni egy másik magyart is a kommentek között
*checks description* oh wow simon clark is an actual person, not simon lane and tom clark's love child like I first expected
hes been in a few videos on hat films a bit ago. More recently the birthday video for trott
1 thing I want the Yogscast to know:
-I went to FiflthyRobot's Channel and asked him if the yogscast invited him over for a game of Civilization V he would happily accept... we all know how much we want to see him back in here for a game. so guys like this comment so that probably Lewis sees it and might sleep over it for a night !!!
jan bos and the other thing?
@@ribby9069 yeah typing error
Hmm, im not sure it would be a good idea. he will crush them again like last time. one thing though it will be a quick game. He Is just too good for these guys. It wasn't fun watching the other one he played in. Maybe Quill18 again, that might be better. He seems a better fit than filthyrobot.
The wolf would accept an invitation to the hen house? Who knew.
This comment won't do anything, sadly.
If you want Lewis to see this, go create a post on the Yogscast subreddit (www.reddit.com/r/Yogscast/). This should hopefully let your submission be seen by Lewis.
Unbelievable! Who would've thought that Sjin managed to pull that religion win on turn 3, without even being in the game!
The Kawarau river (pronounced COW-WER-RAOW), is the river that runs from Queenstown to Cromwell in New Zealand, the home of the Maori.
Finally someone knows how to pronounce it I live next to it and hearing all the Maori names butchered is so irritating
Clark Simon is in this, How sexciting!
Ding
Lewis has a lot of room to grow and settle new cities. This may be even more of a called shot of a game than usual
Eye of the desert was in rise and fall
What a great ending to the first episode of this series.
I just played Kupe today and soon as I heard his music I turned my volume up and just jammed. I was playing terrible but at least the music was amazing
Geothermal fissures grant an amenity when you place an aqueduct next to them, and a major adjacency bonus to campuses.
2:12 Lewis said it before I could finish typing it... Damn it xD
This stream was so tableflip infuriating. They instantly got salty/mad every time they encountered something they didn't immediately understand or get the grasp of. Lewish kept cool mostly but holy hell Rythian and Duncan made me want to bash my head into my screen!
cinnamonbeard Already I’m annoyed by Duncan not understanding that negative loyalty pressure is generated by other people’s cities.
I can't find the stream anywhere on twitch. Can you give me the link to the stream?
What frustrated me was that Duncan instantly used a builder charge to create a farm. Who the fuck needs a farm that early? Builders are extremely valuable early game, and to waste a charge is just so incredibly frustrating to watch.
I love the Maori civ I live in New Zealand right next to the kawarau river next to Duncan's capital
Yes, I have been waiting for this day for a long time.
Thank you Simon for the MELELE shoutout.
The eye of the Sahara is possibly the location of Atlantis because it matches the size and description
The meta is play hungary, levy 5000 swordsmen by turn 50, purge the earth
Places Liang in landlocked city*
In Ireland the taoiseach(Irish Prime Minister) is a doctor.
11:25
The daltos butt fund is going well
"So I'm Hungary, with Balogna, and I'm sandwiched between..."
You don’t want to always go into a dark age, if your planing on early settling early and especially if it’s away from you capital I’d avoid dark ages as they decrease your loyalty and can lead to your city’s rebelling
Finally civ
There is a production queue now?!! THAT'S worth 40€!
I loved the ending
I was not expecting this
Michael Caine has already erupted.
There should be a mod of Civ with only the most evil leaders for civs.
Two types of people:
People who like civilization 6
People who despise it
Levi Powell it still amazes me how there seems to be barely anyone in the middle. Don't think people realize that its fine to just dislike a game and stop whining. Guess thats far above todays internet people..
Actually I think most people just prefer 5, I don't hate 6 its just a bit dull and the pacing is off
It's a matter of perspective, some people do not want to buy a whole new game, learn the new system and buy the new DLC's, when they have a full packaged deal in Civ V already.
Cool fact. The eye of the Sahara is where Atlantis is suspected to actually be. very little exploration has been done there. But, it's dimensions match Plato's descriptions
im finally getting into a civ six
I wish they would listen to Lewis when he tells them to build wide, that there is no downside. Lewis with 6+ cities when anyone else has like 3 max. Leh Sigh.
I love the new expansion
Tried to catch this live but had some technical difficulties...sigh guess i have to wait for it.
You could always watch the vod on twitch if you don't want to wait
Capt_Colorz you can probably catch it on the yogs live channel
Are they ever going to play Endless Legends again?
Why does UA-cam not get that the only reason I haven't been watching this channel lately is because they haven't uploaded in a while. So it takes 3 episodes in before any of them are put in my subscription feed...
Anyone else wants a footage of just Lewis's point of view? So we can study how he roflstomps everyone in Civ?
Yeahhhh
Sean Bean is very epic, at dying.
Finally!!
This game of Civ V looks different... hmm... oh I'm an idiot.
Simoooooon Clark
Wohooo!
While I enjoy Civ, I cannot watch anything with Daltos in anymore. So I sadly cannot watch this.
Them switching from stream to direct capture is really messing with me, quality of the image keeps changing.
Simon sounds a lot like caff
Why is lewis's teal arent the Inca brown?
it's the Jersey system, someone else has a similar colour so in order to not have them too similar, it shifts the colours to their secondary sets
Ik this was a stream but ducons river is from NZ. Its pronounced car-war-ah.
6:02 What recording software do they actually use?
They record with shadowplay.
@@dancrooks1490 Thanks for the reply!
They have rly bad starts i wish they would reroll like no hills nor mountains for lew, duncan cramped, rythian is all tundra, simon had to move 7 turns and daltos dont know
No dr. Leading a country? Hmm i remember the first croatian president was a doctor
Is that a production queue
IS THAT A MULTIQUEUE
Was it an accidental "Swedish fuck sheep" joke? Because, it is actually something known to be a subject for laughing at swedes .
12:51 I'm sitting here thinking you were talking about The Barbs, as in Nicki Minajs fandom. Too high right now.
I like how they are playing civ 6 except have the link to buy civ 5
Maybe for the next Civ game get in house yogs so we can actually see the game play?. . . .
Played civ 6 for the first time the other day and I got absolutely destroyed by the ai and barbs. I will crawl back into my civ 5 shell.
Lol same thing happened to me first game.
Played a 6 civ game with a friend, 5 civs on my island with constant barbs and war, only him on the other with barely a barbarian in sight.
After a few games now I've found you pretty much win or lose from your starting location.
I can't remember if it was the same way in the civ 5 base game, but I'm sure there will be a mod to balance things.
Why does Dr Clark sound like Caff?
Woo Dr Simon Clark
classic rythian fast expand?
Yus
Did Lewis explain why he was standing for this entire stream?
Its meant to be good for you
The Eye of the Sahara is _literally_ Atlantis. Look it up.
Well that's certainly not the craziest theory I've ever heard.
@@ALifeOfWine Judge for yourself. ua-cam.com/video/oDoM4BmoDQM/v-deo.html
no it isnt its a naturally occurring geographic marvel thats especially important since it holds rock samples and the like that are 100 million years old, literally no reputable evidence has ever shown it to be atlantis. we know how it was formed naturally at least we are pretty sure and thats about it
No historian or archaeologist holds the Eye of the Sahara to be Atlantis, or even acknowledges Atlantis to be real. Completely unfounded and error-riddle conspiracy theory mumbo-jumbo.
Who is Dr. Simon Clark?
Welcome back civ, this expansion though as most is overpriced for the content you actually get, will wait for a better deal
It really isn't. it adds a crap ton of content, so the price tag is justifiable.
I think the base game was a bit too steep in pricing, maye R&F too, but this seems fair.
@@Sondrebol I think Gathering storm might add parts of R&F too it
Joshua Green it adds rhe mechanics (loyalty, golden ages etc) from R&F, if the user does not already have it, since GS builds upon them. Only the civs, units, buldings and wonders are missing.
Compared to a game like Endless Legend or Endless Space 2, it is pretty overpriced IMO
Edit: especially on sale, I could buy endless legend and all of its dlc for less than the price of Civ 6 on Endless Day
What are you comparing it to? Civ 5? Brave New World cost only 5 pounds less than this, and this adds a hell of a lot more to the game than that did, not to mention that BNW was more or less mandatory for a good civ 5
Who can pronouce the maori's cities names?
Of all the things to complain about, production queueing must be the most worthless one.
At least compared to real issues like how garbage the interface design was, you literally couldn't select a city with a garrisoned unit in it without zooming all the way in.
#NotMyPhoenecia
Huh, im half Maori

welllchome back all to hohuer.. ''Gin lvls in blood under nominal vaules'' ?
also..still want to see lewis dunc and prefferbly 2 more play anno 1404..with a custom map having a vulcano on evry single iland ^^^..wait civ actually tryeed to add some actuall UI improvement thats usefull for mp play aswell ? well..better late the never I guess...all it needs now is some basic networking code and maby I buy two ex of it.
Been playing for a couple days. There are so many features that I don't care about. World Congress? Worthless. All it does is interrupt the flow, so that I can choose something that the AI disagrees with. Wooo! SO MUCH FUN! I love clicking buttons that wind up not mattering at ALL! I can't even just ignore it. I have to choose something, just so the AI can choose something else. I have the option of pouring my Diplo points to make my choice matter, but I can't afford to do that every Congress, and I need to save that for the next thing.
Let players abstain from the world congress. If my vote is irrelevant, I shouldn't be pulled out of the flow of the game.
Next problem: I'm minding my business playing as Sweden, being nice to everybody. It turns out Mansa Musa hates somebody I'm friends with. Mali takes advantage of my open borders agreement to launch a surprise war against me. So far, not that big of a problem. I would prefer some sort of warning from Mali, maybe just Mansa denouncing me for being friends with whomever, but that's not too big of a deal. I beat Mansa's butt, roll him back to where I am able to capture one of his cities, and he calls a global emergency to organize against me.
So as the victim of a surprise attack, I am not allowed to capture territory from my aggressor? [Serious Question] How do I call a global emergency? Is that an option anywhere?
So I spend my diplo points to defeat that. Robert the Bruce, my so-called "friend" voted AGAINST me. Because I'm the bad guy for winning a war? WTF?
So it seems like my options are, get attacked and do nothing about it, or be a global pariah? The diplomacy is absolute trash. Nobody launching a surprise war against me should be able to persuade my friend that I'm the bad guy. I end the war, capture the city, and within a few turns it's going into rebellion. Because of course that's how the game works. Now I know to only raze cities. Never show mercy.
Different game, playing as Kupe, I'm going for a space race win. Except some damn spy just set me back twenty turns by sabotaging my spaceport. Now it takes several turns to rebuild, and all work on my Mars mission is lost. Is that fun for anyone? Do people genuinely enjoy clicking "Next Turn" for a while just because you weren't microing your damn spies properly? I know espionage has been around for a while, but with the longer space race there's that much more chance to drag out the already boring end game. Spies aren't fleshed out enough to be fun. It's just more clicking on boxes every once in a while and if you screw up and don't keep track you can get absolutely shafted.
In the old days (Civ 2 Multiplayer Gold), you were allowed to win wars, and you didn't have to deal with layer upon layer of poorly developed gameplay features. We had global warming then, we had spies, and there was a decent model for your diplomatic reputation.
Maybe I just need to play more and get better, but my first several hours with this have been frustrating. I don't enjoy the espionage system, I would greatly prefer defending against spies with constabularies and police stations instead of counterspies that have to be on specific districts. I hate how diplomacy works, punishing players for counterattacking against a surprise attack. It's bizarre and not nearly as fun as it could be.
I realize from my tone it sounds like I'm a hater, but I'm not. I've played about ten hours since getting home Friday night. I love Civ. And the new expansion has some really cool stuff. I just hate how spies and diplomacy work. And sadly, diplomacy was a big part of this expansion.

I'm old.
This game looks so cheap now. The army units look too weak and undernumbered.
Maori kind of seem overpowered. Fishing, settle with a worker etc. is too good early
They are balanced by a lot of ways.
Every map generates land for each civ to expand, except the Maori. In a 6 player game, there will be room for 5, making loyalty a big issue for them. They will often have to forward settle other civs, making them justified targets of war. Being coastal also puts you at risk of flooding and hurricanes.
They can't remove resources like stone and wheat, and they can't earn great writers, making culture victories way harder.
@@josgretf2800 I think the developers intended them to spend more time looking for a settle location. Also is a culture victory not what they are geared towards trying to get?
:O
Eye of The Sahara is actually Atlantis (No joke or conspiracy), why not look it up on youtube and watch a professional video on it :)
