    Great tip about putting the candle in the freezer! Always wondered how to get them out clean from the glass!

    What kind of wicks do you use? Apparently there are many types of wicks, and different ones work best with different waxes? So if I’m putting different waxes together from different candles do I have to worry about the wick I use either not lighting, or even maybe could it cause a fire hazard? I bought a package of zinc wicks from my hobby shop but now I’m nervous about using them. Any suggestions?

    • @mymagicalhome
      @mymagicalhome  26 днів тому +1

      I have not ever used zinc wicks that I am aware of, I have only used the wooden ones and the basic ones that came in my kit. I have been looking for non toxic options myself as i would like to use a wick to make a butter candle. I am sorry I am not more helpful. Should l learn anymore i will be sure to come back and let you know.

    Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. It was wonderful work, and your passion is so contagious ❤.
    I like your coordination a lot. I use scented candles a lot, buy the leftover issues to add to the filling of my crocheted toys and items for my students, and to tge children in the women's shelters. I give them all away.
    I tried it ones, and tge toy I made was just a simple colorful ball as a Christmas ornament, but tge child I made it for, is learning challenged, so he gets frustrated, whenever that happens, he grabs the ball I made him, squeezing it in his hand to relax and tge warmth from his skin, release the scent stronger, he even puts it in his bed with him. So I started making different items, with whatever leftovers i had, it's been years, and people love it. It makes me feel great. When I give them away, the first thing people do is smell them and smile.
    I'm going to use your method to make a few more candles for myself or give away. There are still a lot of leftovers in my cabinet. ❤
    Happy New Year, dear.

    How long to boil the water

    • @mymagicalhome
      @mymagicalhome  5 місяців тому

      It is more about getting the wax to the right temp. than a time for it to boil. Generally speaking you want it to be 180-185F for soy and paraffin wax 200-205ºF for palm wax before you add your fragrance. If you want it to be unscented or if it already had a scent you want to bring your wax to 120 - 165 degrees before you pour them into the jars. I believe I poured closer to the higher number. Thank you for checking out the video! I hope you are having a nice day.

    Jacque, I have a few candles that I really enjoyed and did not want to waste the unused wax. Thanks for the video and useful information.
    I have a suggestion to speed up the wax melting. Preheating the candles in warm water should keep the glass from breaking. Use a second pan with warm water to start bringing the temperature up, then move the candles to the hot water. Thanks again for the video! Best of luck!
