So true about 98% of realtors recommending Summerlin or Henderson or some other suburb. Just look at all the videos about “Vegas neighborhoods” on UA-cam by realtors…but none of the neighborhoods are actually in Las Vegas. It really is a unicorn to find a realtor talking about the cool Las Vegas neighborhoods…actually in Las Vegas. Areas like Scotch 80’s, McNeil Estates, Rancho Bel Air, Rancho Circle, Nevada Estates, the Alta area, Paradise Palms, etc. Neighborhoods with 1/4, 1/3, 1/2+ acre lots, custom homes, mature landscaping and minutes from downtown, Strip & airport without touching a freeway. I get it is rare for a local to have any idea where the neighborhoods I listed are even located since the vast majority only know their burbs…but I’m hoping more realtors will start telling more people about these wonderful neighborhoods
#3....not enough Southerners here. This place needs to be nicer with better drivers. Be warned, bad drivers here. However, traffic is manageable.
In the 6 years we’ve lived in Las Vegas, I’ve seen over 150 fender bender accidents. Every time I drive the surface streets, somebody runs a red light. I don’t play the radio when I behind the wheel. Instead I pay full attention to the other cars around me.

@George Lush -- 150+ fender benders in 6 years? Wow. But I can also get behind you about paying full attention on the road...
It's something everyone talks about but those long long lights everywhere drive everyone crazy. Within a year you'll be stepping on the gas on orange just like a local.
And in reality the bad drivers are only a tiny percentage, just like most places. A few more Southerners here will not do anything to help but bring more people frustrated by the driving. However everyone tells me Floridians are the very worst... Even worse than Californians. However people have CA hating on the brain and will always remember the times they see a CA plate in a wreck. Whereas actually we have a huge number of people just visiting from all over the world that rent cars and then driving around when over tired or under the influence. Plus many people from overseas living here now who are used to much more aggressive less controlled driving conditions. Lyft and Uber are a bit hit and miss in my experience.
Driving is a breeze here. Yes, there are bad drivers here, DUI, uninsured, unlicensed etc. Compare this to Atlanta, Washington D.C. Atlanta, Tampa Bay Area, Miami, Las Vegas generally is a breeze. Is it busier now than in 2005 when I move here? Yes. Still, a simple grid pattern, the Beltway and the soon to be I-11 through town, not many complaints.

The HEAT is not that much of a problem, the COLD,this year kinda of shocking. Some would say I chose poorly when picked the neighborhood, but with a 30 commute to work I'd say not.

It’s a dry heat! So is my oven! When it’s 115 degrees, it’s HOT! I couldn’t live there!

But the reality is it's only like that for a few hours of the day for a few weeks of the year. In the morning, night, and huge portions before and after high summer the weather is glorious. But walking around at night June through September is glorious. When you sweat the cooking effect is considerable which is why it feels at least ten degrees cooler here to anyone that wasn't born here. I'll take 110F here over 90F anywhere with 80% humidity any day.

People who live in Las Vegas for over a year or so, avoid the Strip at all costs.
Thank you for your input. I don't 100% agree that they should avoid the Strip at all costs. But definitely know your limitations because it can get very tempting out here!
@@LasVegasGal Only fools gamble, booze it up and dine at expensive restaurants. These same people then plead poverty. No, the Strip AND the locals casinos, including those little Dotty places should be avoided. Gambling is a losing proposition. Just my take. Real estate is risky here.
I was very disappointed w my realitor.She seemed to be interested in making a sale .....if you buying a townhomebmake sure you know who living next to you. Too many renters.these investors come and buy multiply properties .the next thing you know you have 2 renter on both sides.

Thanks so much.we bought a townhouse .I was not aware of the some of fees.it’s a nice townhome but I’m an investor I should of looked at the paper work closely because my realitor did not go over documents.I do not blame her entirely I did not review the document ahead of time. I failed to look at multiple properties before buying our townhome.

In fact if you don’t file taxes because all of your income is non-taxable, we can gross your SSI up 25% to help you qualify for more.
