I am a Marine and Automotive tech . I am blown away by the quality of the wing spars and braces and the thickness of the sheet metal . That is a freakin 10 I had no clue with the society we have today with no pride just slap it together and gouge for high prices that there was any good quality manufacturing left.
Sling aircraft kits are in high demand due the quality, they use very high tech machinery, to manufacture the parts, not like a lot of there competition, probably why they turn out really good looking aircraft which fly like a dream
Well done JP. Have been following your journey. Its just unreal how you managed to build the aircraft in such a short time. Its a testament to your total commitment and passion for aviation. Let your Sling take you to the most amazing places and hope we cross paths sometime... will keep a lookout for Zazu....
Having been a boat builder and marine electronics installer for many years many I suggest you use a small trim router with a straight bit and a shop built base to cut perfect round holes. It can also be used with a template to cut the baggage hole and door with great precision. I use these techniques to cut holes in the dashes of mega yachts for electronics.
These are the best days, waking up and seeing that JP has uploaded a video! Hands down JP you're the nicest most inspiring and talented aviation content creator out there! Can't wait for the next videos!
Finally catching up on the videos. I followed the journey on instagram already, but seeing the struggle and hardship is crazy. With all of the time constraints and building a freaking airplane, you still manage to produce such a first class video. Wow! Everytime I come back and watch a slice of your life, I get reminded why its so impacful for me. The sincerity and honesty, with your insane passion and commitment, inspires me to be a better version of myself.
Cool adventure! Questions #1 fly around the world as literally or presented as grand only a week or two weeks flight from Africa to the US? #2 Isn't the tip of South America Cape Horn? It is way down after Ushuaia. Thanks for answering😊
Bro you just got a new sub. Back 10 years ago all I wanted was a pilot then I got admitted in my local university here for AAE but life happens... Happy to find your channel
JP! I am a 59 years old African male, from Standerton. I have resently started flying lessons in Secunda ,South Africa. My inspiration to fly started in my early childhood, from No where. I had to follow my other carrier path of Medicine over the years. The spark for flying never died. I am in the process of making that dream come true. I followed you and Luise on your journey around the world. I am following your friend Matt Guthmiller and many other flying enthusiasts like Jimmy’s world; Build rescue etc. I am further inspired by you for building your Sling aircraft! You are truly my inspiration. I almost gave up when discovered that I had cancer, but thanks to courageous people like you, I am in the process of aquiring my first aero plane soon. I am so so encouraged by realizing that you Namibian and do love Namibia so much. I have put it to myself to fly around Africa. Namibia shall be my second home. It is so spectacular! I hope to meet you one day. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. John Mohale. (drmohale@drmohale.co.za)
Keep making the videos! You're my favorite UA-cam channel by far! Wish I could have made it to Oshkosh this year, used to go every year. Awesome job, look forward to your videos of the build. keep it up buddy!
Such a good film! You continue to outdo yourself with the quality of these videos, your adventures, and story telling. Can't wait to see the rest of the build.
I love this. This is great information for new pilots. I’m training right now on getting my license. But I was supposed to solo this weekend and as luck has it a hurricane is at my door step. 😢 so probably schedule for next weekend. But keep this information coming JP absolutely fantastic.
G'day mate. And when you get down here to Nz, I'll do my best to make an effort to search you out. Btw, my beer fridge is full. Take care JP, cya next time.
@@the_candourist Great work and tail wind for all your projects! I love to see your updates and adventures... 👨🏻✈️ I don't understand one thing about the metal you are using for your aircraft: it looks quite 'yellow gold' and I wonder if this is a primed aluminum or if it has been treated in some way. My concern is that I see you are drilling the holes and just riveting without priming the holes. I don't know if I make any sense about this, but if it's not too boring I would appreciate if you can clarify the technical aspects and specs and let me know. 👍🏻
Thanks JP you have byilt yourself a dream aeroplane and the colour scheme is just awsume. If this aircraft was available when l was younger and before l was no longer able to pass my medical l would most certainly have built the high wing tail dragger for myself. ❤❤❤ Michael Hickman Durban South Africa
Holy Shit JP! This episode was beyond phenomenal and kept me engaged the whole time! What an awesome experience to see another young man go through, building his own airplane. So stoked for all the content you're going to make with it!
Such a beautiful kit to build a gorgeous airplane! I'm well past the point in life where I could undertake such an amazing project. I love adventure and envy your lifestyle. 🙂 Be safe and I will be following your journey!
4th! if you fly through Houston I own a 182 I can take some formation photos from. Also I'll buy you a damn good burger at the best airport cafe in Texas.
Awesome job, considering the timeframe and your health concerns during the build. Using a Mike Patey-like work ethic let's you get a lot done. Where are you going to put all the fuel for the rtw trip, or going to go over gross weight like the 210? Great looking kit; is the gold an antocorrosion coating? If so, does it come standard with the kit? Best wishes!!!

Probably that's why more and more flight schools are using the sling 2 and 4
I am also South African

All those chips and metal contamination definitely got into the wing cutting the hole. Not sure the repercussions of it.

You do blow me away on what you do and the achievements to go with You. Live the dream is what you do.

Thanks for answering😊
20:58 I like the idea of integrating the switched GoPros in the aircraft with extra holes in the wing
Great job JP. I can’t believe I’ve just found your channel. As a pilot and SA expat living in the USA I really enjoy your content.
Of course we will follow you around the world again JP. Keep up,the good work!
Great update. You are going to have a hell of a platform to launch your RTW. Huge respect.

Thanks for the update JP! Love the wing design and build, and the airplane as well. I would have loved to have been there to lend a hand.
Been waiting a while for an update on this :D
Never build an airplane in a hurry unless you are in a war. That said, hope you are feeling better and well done on the plane!
This video is top notch dude. May be my favorite of yours!
What an awesome experience! best of wishes on your endeavors

14:43 thank you for mentioning my home country in this video but I’m not even done yet so I’m going to finish the rest of the video
South to South totally inspired my interest in aviation!
Music playing around the 7 minute mark is
Stay True by Lars Eriksson.
Good tube, good choice.

Thanks for taking us along for the Journey! Congratulations JP! Looking forward to the next video!
I like the camera integration idea. I did not even notice it when I saw Zazu at Oshkosh. Well done.
Well done JP! Look forward to your new adventures, hope they include Melbourne, Oz. Cheers!
It is really great work, outstanding Bravo 💪💪💪💪

Let's go! If you arnt already absolutely enamored with flying you will be after your solo. Fly safe and good luck!
I think it's pretty cool your naming it Zazu keeping up with The Jungle Book thing you and Louie use.
G'day mate. And when you get down here to Nz, I'll do my best to make an effort to search you out. Btw, my beer fridge is full.
Take care JP, cya next time.
This is what makes humanity great 👍
Loving this! Miss flying Slings, but hopefully there’ll be a 4HW in the hangar soon.
Amazing. Keep well. Your no good to fly if your ill . Take care of you first!!
I had great enjoyment watching the video, we'll done.
Impressive dedication and perseverance 👍
This needs more views! :)

Very well done on this build. Pilot Bambi will be heading out from my local airfield to fly to tedderfield in the sling high wing ZU-SHW. EHHV to FATA
Another incredible video JP, I know the work that goes into both building and filming a build. Looking forward to more!
F🎉🕊🦢 year dude thats dope❤
Airplanes are made for adventure. 🔥
Holy Shit JP! This episode was beyond phenomenal and kept me engaged the whole time! What an awesome experience to see another young man go through, building his own airplane. So stoked for all the content you're going to make with it!
Good Luck saw your little adventure with Dan mace and came right over and subbed. Looking forward to your adventures let us know when u Dubai
What a great video look forward to the nxt one
Such a beautiful kit to build a gorgeous airplane! I'm well past the point in life where I could undertake such an amazing project. I love adventure and envy your lifestyle. 🙂 Be safe and I will be following your journey!
Reminds me of Draco a bit. With the longer wheel arms than say a 150 Cessna. I'm curious how you can fly the wings upside down.Blows my mind
Hey JP, I am a little behind the times BUT I am defininately more interested in this project than your trip around the world in a C210
Those time lapses were really nice. Great to see the build, anyway, back to work! oops, wrong channel 🙂
Son this is dedication
Missed seeing your adventures
Brilliant JP. You’ve done an incredible job. I cant Twain to see your future videos.
That is some skill!!!!
Always envious of your excellent film making. Great job.
Is this plane built with pulled rivets or do you need a bucking bar?
You're the candourist. I wouldnt be worried a bit
Seems like I've got a new dream.. Kinda can't imagine how it is possible to earn enough money for such hobbie, but still probably worth the efforts
Very interested in your story. I have to start on a stripped cgs hawk this winter. I have zero idea what I'm doing!
Well done JP, educational video. Why not paint before final assembly so all the nooks and crannies are covered?
Strange a video about a Sling aircraft would end on an image of a Kitfox :D
That's a crazy fuel cap!
how much does a airplane kit cost?
Great video JP
Which metal used in this
That's amazing
4th! if you fly through Houston I own a 182 I can take some formation photos from. Also I'll buy you a damn good burger at the best airport cafe in Texas.
The tail/main fuselage joint doesn't look very robust. Hope it's not just rivets holding it together. Ouch
Ok,now you've to come in Abruzzo,in italy😂
How and when did you learn to make airplanes ?
Awesome job, considering the timeframe and your health concerns during the build. Using a Mike Patey-like work ethic let's you get a lot done. Where are you going to put all the fuel for the rtw trip, or going to go over gross weight like the 210? Great looking kit; is the gold an antocorrosion coating? Your storytelling and editing are out of this world, really amazing content. With the plane build, are you doing the editing or did you sub it out?
hi sir, can u please tell me whats that nuts called, that you used to connect body of plane!!! ❤❤
It appears you are only using blind rivets, would it not be stronger and lighter using solid rivets for assembly wherever possible?
(Curious AME-S)
Bro build it like ikea flatpack furniture 😂
Fantastic!
Which watch⌚ is Sean wearing?
Wow. How do you know how to assemble a plane? I saw a thin manual, but you don't seem to be staring at it a lot. Have you ever made a plane before?
Honest question where do you get the money to buy a 400k airplane?
Go go go!
Remarkable 👌🏾
Question: Why does the Aluminum look gold. isn't anodized?
Maybe anodized but I think its alodined. Anodizing can weaken the metal were as alodine holds its strength while staying corrosion resistant.
As always epic content
Algorithm what are you doing 😅🚀🚀🚀
Hi I am am 14 and would like to learn to fly in the future what would you say is the best way to get started
Also i Live in SA
Sick twice, was it COVID?
