Lovely arrangement of roses Laura. The wax flower is called Geraldton Wax. It originates from a town called Geraldton on the west coast of Australia, which is actually the town I grew up in. They grow wild there, as do sunflowers 🌻
As an Australian it was lovely to see 2 of our native plants in the floral arrangement. The Wax flowers and the eucalyptus leaves.

Laura you’re a breath of fresh air … I love how down to earth you are … you made me chuckle when you said you needed to water your hands … made me think ..you can’t trust a skinny chef .. and I say you can’t trust a gardener with clean hands lol… love all your videos.. you are one of the first things I look for every morning 🥰🙌
After our Thanksgiving meal, I took the grandkids out to the potting shed to “pot up” individual amaryllis bulbs for them to take home and watch for blooms . I also potted up my summer amaryllis, and we seem to be in the same stage as you are! Looks like January through February, and I can only “blame Laura” for this new family obsession! Thank you for all you do Laura to keep us creative and growing green, even through the 5b winter of southern WI!
When I go antiquing with my friends, I am always on the lookout for old plates for saucers. I love the crystal looking ones or blue and white, which is my aesthetic. Often, I find them at Habitat, Goodwill or garage sales for pennies. I use them under terra cotta or alone for furniture protection. Something else to look for when you, your mother and Monica have another shopping day!
Also lids from Mayo jars, coffee canisters etc and old Tupperware can be used to keep vintage items clean and protect them from hard water buildup. Just change them out seasonally and give the decorative plates a quick wipe. Keep a supply in an old cookie tin or bag in the potting shed.
I use old plates too
They look so sweet under a potted plant
They don't scratch surfaces and are waterproof
I do the same. All white pots in my west window and white vintage plates for saucers.
I use glass or crystal plates and pie plates from the thrift store under my house plants. You don't even notice them.

Those flowers look like they’re from Trader Joe’s , they seem to always carry English roses , love getting flowers from them . All of the plants you repotted are so pretty . Thank you for always making sure you give us the name of the plants , just in case we need to go buy one or two . The Hartley is the spot to be in it’s gorgeous in there 🌿🪻🪴

I love the English essay roses, mauve & pale pink is so understated. My favorite part - other than glimpsing the adorable cats - is going over each plant after re-potting, each name, & also learning Laura's strategy for watering.

I figure late winter blooms on amaryllis are even better than Christmas blooms since the Christmas season already is pretty and decorative, whereas we need a boost of pretty color as the winter wears on.
Beautiful arrangement. I’m curious if you bought a single bouquet from the store how you would arrange it. With grocery prices so high a $35 splurge is not in the cards for some but $5-$10 is. That would be a fun challenge. Enjoy the day.

Hearing the piano music in the background, I wondered if Laura has ever composed a piano composition of her own? In this video, Laura has challenged my vertical and horizonal sense of design. When I saw the candle holder upcycled into a vase that she chose for the beautiful David Austin-ish roses, immediately I envisioned a vertical bouquet and Laura went horizonal. Perfection! Then when I saw the new urn/pots I thought of a horizonal, bushy type plant and Laura chose the Myrtle topiaries. I love how Laura expands my gardening world!

So excited about the horses! I kept horses for years and still miss it. It's hard work but worth it. Make sure you can get electricity to water troughs to prevent freezing.

Hey Laura... Have you heard of Jay Schwanke? He is a 4th generation flower shop owner based out of Michigan. He said the petals on the outside of the flower are 1/2 leaf and 1/2 flower. When you pull them off like you did, he said the expectancy of your flower bloom goes down and won't last as long.These flower petals are what helps to feed your flowers. I do understand why you took them off but if you can keep them on it would help your flowers to last longer. He also said if you do pull them off to spray your flowers with Chrysal Professional Glory. It provides a shield to help with evaporation coming out of your flowers to help them last longer. He also said to always cut your flowers on an angel so that when in water they can drink. He says if you cut off straight across that the flowers can't drink. I just thought since you have so many flowers you might like to know about him. He's on UA-cam.

I totally get the puttering in the Hartley vibes ! I don’t have a greenhouse but a sunroom and I sure appreciate it .
I no longer have the sunroom with moving….thank you for helping me bring up it’s comforting memories. And now 20 yrs later will be downsizing once more will be looking for a new home with an eye to maximum windows if no sunroom is available. 💕
All I asked for for Christmas was a geriatric cat. One that will be chill and want to snuggle, sit in my lap and be pet. Douglas looks like that perfect cat. If you sat down, would he want in your lap for a snuggle? The plants are so beautiful. And look so good when placed in groups the way you do.♡

6-10 yr old cats settle down, once at 15 yrs they like a cat spot to watch things but be left alone.
To me they still meow if notice some sounds off, still interact but are really into connecting to the clouds above when napping. Petting seems to jar them from protecting -sensing their old age.
Try feeding alnutrin cat supplement, slow cook meats, adding tbl sardines for coat and skin, and doing a soapnut pet wipe and wipe off with hot water washcloth. Older cats need help bathing. Also like Tractor Supply Co equine bedding to save on clay cat litter. To me it neautralizes nitrogen best and I usually wet down pine pellets with water to create a softer litter. Not lap cat age 17+ years but can feel great with dense clean fur, and good muscle tone.
❤ They can also love watching an amazon tablet with wild bird videos in a cat cave, patio end table with toddler size bedding over and under.
PS Rehmannia 8 for pets on Amazon helps blood metabolism prevent death when older, as snow fronts or heat waves can change atmospheric pressure. Blood goes to organs but the medicine helps create surface heat and keeps things going. For dogs think 11 yrs good to have on hand. For cats maybe 14 years. Fed to 17 yr old cat each day but younger maybe only at weather changes. Also petalive uti free good to get on ebay as a medicine on shelf. Worth the extra cost.

Ohhhh the fence is partially gone 😱 I've noticed in the First September garden tour video the neighbour's trailer, and it's structure gone (behind your barn), and I know it must have been an eyesore for You Laura. 😅 Have you managed to purchase that land? if so ...can't wait to hear your plans 😃

Yep the fencing down and Aaron’s wink on the last GA Highlights video, made me think that they had acquired the property abutting the barn and pond area…perhaps why Laura mentioned during pond development that the tall pole light on the neighbor’s basket ball court did not bother them…. Bet it comes down. LOL
The trailer has been gone for some time now. The fence is being replaced. They talked about it on GA Highlights. The neighbor lives on that land so they are not buying it!
But this is the east fence now. Not the north fence.
I watched a video this week about soaking the roots of amaryllis in water for 12-24 hours to make them bloom quicker with bigger blooms. I hope I remember next season just to see. Rose arrangement is beautiful.

Having watched this video, I can understand how enjoyable it must be to putter in the Hartley on a cold day. I would die of heat stroke in a greenhouse here south Texas, haha :) I have seen you pot all the plants in there and the statue head is probably my favorite but many are such cute plants. I've watched your videos for years and always love when I can offer up a plant name that you may not be familiar with 😊 That Muehlenbeckia you have is commonly known as the "tapeworm plant" because of its flat stems. It looks like the Latin name was recently changed to be included in the Muehlenbeckia genus which was news to me too! Such a strange plant but super fun to grow. It is a tropical so high humidity and moisture is welcome. Thanks for bringing so much beauty to the world with your passion for plants! ❤
It's a treat watching you shop for plants and yet another treat watching you repot them, like you did today. Ah, those English roses and wax flowers just bring a smile to my face and just love how Aaron always chooses the perfect background music to accompany your creations. Please let Douglas know that he must share camera time with Cheddar and Russell. One more thing, I've never been a fan of bulbs because of the wait period before they bloom but you may have made a convert of me after seeing your Amaryllis collection in their adorned pots; will enjoy seeing them bloom. Laura, have you thought of using plates as a saucer for pots? I found some at a thrift store that were so pretty and curved just right. I feel good about saving them from a landfill and they add a nice style to my pots.
I still use saucer but I buy glazed plates that cost a dollar.

Drooling over those roses! I did some potting up this morning too. An Amaryllis I got for Christmas and some angel wing begonia cuttings I took from one plant outside (which is still thriving in this crazy warm weather we are having on Vancouver Island.) The cuttings were actually blooming!

Hi, Laura. I love your videos and have been watching and inspired for years! I have started using vintage china or glass plates from resale shops for saucers and love the look. It's a fun alternative and they are always water tight. Sarah in Illinois.

My armaryllis isn’t do “it’s either. It looks healthy, the soil is good. Not over watering and getting as much sun as is available in there dreary days. It’s just sitting there. After seeing your group, I feel better. We may have a flower eventually. Loved the roses you and Samantha purchased. Lovely in the dull days.

I try using white pots and love the look of them all together on my plant stand. I have 3 amaryllis, oldest is 3 years old. It bloomed first but only lasted a few days so I think it’s about used all its bulb strength. The one year old came next and was gorgeous. The 3rd is the newest , had two bulb stalks and each had 5 blossoms on it, just now starting to fade. So fun to watch and so lovely to add to the holiday cheer.
