Homemade Chicken & Dumplings Recipe: Dumplings In a big bowl, combine 2 cups of all purpose flour, 4 tbs of baking powder, 1 tbs of parsley flakes, 1 tsp of salt and stir in well In a cup combine 3/4 cup fo milk and 4 tbs of butter. Warm up in microwave for 2 minutes Then poor into dry ingredients and stir (dont over work dough) Place in refrigerator Chop up 1 onion, 3 celery stalks, and 2 carrots into small pieces Boil chicken in a pot of water over med heat for approximately 20 minutes (if you dont already have cooked chicken meat) Remove chicken and white residue Add 2 bay leaves to pot of water, chicken broth, 3 chicken flavor bouillon cubes, 2 tbs of salt, 1 tbs of pepper, 1 tbs of garlic powder, 1 tsp of thyme seasoning, and chopped vegetables (carrots, onions and celery) Allow veggies and broth to simmer on medium heat until carrots are done for approximately 40 minutes Meanwhile, once chicken cool off shred into pieces. In a bowl combine 1 pint of sour cream, 5-6 tbs of flour, 2 tbs of turmeric, and approximately 1 cup of water, stir in well *** MAKE SURE SOUR CREAM IS WELL BLENDED AND SMOOTH BEFORE ADDING TO THE POT OF VEGGIES AND BROTH Poor sour cream flour mixture into pot of water. In table spoon fulls, scoop out dough into balls and drop into pot After 5-6 minutes turn the dumplings over once they rise to the top Add your shredded chicken or pre cooked shredded chicken to the pot and 1 cup of frozen peas Turn fire off
The secret to fluffy dumplings is to place a lid on the pot, lower the heat and cook it for 17 minutes. I made this for my family and they went crazy over it. Even the small amount of leftovers in the refrigerator were eaten, and my family doesn't like leftovers. It's the best you will ever make.

Well I am having a little difficulty describing my word choices right now so I'll do my best. As I'm typing this my family and I just finished eating our chicken and dumplings. All I can say is SWEET BABY JESUS IN A MANGER!!!! Thank you for sharing, you are very much appreciated.
Here's a tip I find handy when boiling/poaching chicken breasts. Add your carton of stock to the raw chicken breasts, then cover with water and simmer. You can even add the veggies too. Cuts your time in half and also infuses the chicken with even more flavor.
+Katie moser --I do the same- use chicken that has bones in it or the leftover carcass of a roast chicken and then put stalks of celery and some whole carrots and onion and boil it down to get chicken stock. When I'm done I throw out the carrots and celery stalks and then pull the meat off the carcass. Adding carrots and celery and onions WHILE the chicken carcass is boiling really makes a huge difference in the flavor of the stock.
I made this recipe just like your video. I even sang the Chicken Noodle Soup song for my wife. She wasn’t very impressed with my singing but the Chicken and Dumplings were a hit. If you simmer chicken with the skin and bone until the chicken is tender and falling off the bone it makes a better richer broth. Just take the chicken out and let it cool before removing the bones and skin. The chicken will be very tender.
I was going to say that as well. To make chicken broth use bone in chicken. I add onions and celery when doing chicken and dumplings. I still use about 3-4 bouillon cubes as well.
Just made this and it came out great! i used can biscuits and used a whisk to combine the flour, turmeric and water, then stirred the sour cream in its container before adding to mixture. Easy peasy and GOOD!

I feel like a traitor saying this and I’m gonna whisper.... Granny is in Heaven so I hope she forgives me for saying this but your recipe is the BOMB! Granny was born in Copenhagen Denmark and her dumpling recipe is much more dense and rich. Lots of butter in her recipe along with egg yolks , salt and pepper and garlic powder and onion powder and MSG and then the flour of course. Your recipe is the FIRST one I have ever came across that is flat out delicious. I’m looking forward to watching your other videos and trying different recipes.

I had some chicken and dumplings for Jamaican flavors today. I had the Jamaican seafood soup once before with the pawns in it which I wasnt really a fan off. I remember it did have some dumplings in it. Today it had one dumpling in it but it was so tasty and the right amount of spicy.

Just made this... It was so good. Tip you do have to let the Dumplings cook a bit. I turned the heat up once i added them and cover the pot for 8-10 Mins. Any longer and it will boil over. I'm going to make the smothered baked chicken and potatoes and grave recipe next.

A little tip for you; when you're using a cuttingboard, put a damp cloth or dishrag underneath it...that will prevent the cuttingboard from moving around, when you're cutting, or chopping. :)

+ivanabbeauty why am i not surprised..3 bouillon cubes..2 tbs of salt,AND chicken broth..never use more than a tsp of any seasoning before tasting..never use more than 3 salt containing seasonings for any 1 dish....peel a potato and quarter it,lay it in the pot(raw),it will absorb the extra salt

I loosely followed this recipe and it came out great. I used cream of chicken soup instead of the sour cream mix and it was delicious. My family loved it!
Best Chicken and Dumplings I have ever made!! I used chicken thighs. I discarded the skin after boiling with butter. I replaced the bouillon cube and chicken stock with Low Sodium Better than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base. It was absolutely Delicious! My husband loved it and he doesn't even like turmeric. One other suggestion ... use celtic salt or himalayan salt because regular salt is 1/3 sand ( it cuts your veins as it passes threw) and thats what causes high blood pressure etc !!

I go so far as to use old bones and carcasses that I have frozen for that very reason. So much more flavor.

A little tip for you; when you're using a cuttingboard, put a damp cloth or dishrag underneath it...that will prevent the cuttingboard from moving around, when you're cutting, or chopping. :)

+ivanabbeauty why am i not surprised..3 bouillon cubes..2 tbs of salt,AND chicken broth..never use more than a tsp of any seasoning before tasting..never use more than 3 salt containing seasonings for any 1 dish....peel a potato and quarter it,lay it in the pot(raw),it will absorb the extra salt

I loosely followed this recipe and it came out great. I used cream of chicken soup instead of the sour cream mix and it was delicious. My family loved it!

Best Chicken and Dumplings I have ever made!! I used chicken thighs. I discarded the skin after boiling with butter. I replaced the bouillon cube and chicken stock with Low Sodium Better than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base. It was absolutely Delicious! My husband loved it and he doesn't even like turmeric. Thank you for the recipe. 😍
Try putting a damp cloth under the chopping board to stop it from sliding!!

Sour cream adds a tangy flavor. I'll add it to sauces sometimes. Wine or sour cream can really help the flavor of a sauce. This looks delicious.

Love this .... but you need to use a whisk to mix ... then no lumps !! ...big smiles :))
One other suggestion ... use celtic salt or himalayan salt because regular salt is 1/3 sand ( it cuts your veins as it passes threw) and thats what causes high blood pressure etc !!
