Will you be trying Mears Connect on your next Disney vacation?!
After watching your video, yes, I think we'll try it. It'll just be my myself, wife, and 12-year-old daughter. When does it pick you up to go back to the airport? 3-4 hours prior to your flight? We are staying at Pop Century. Thinking of Uber as well (as I've used Uber before in Chicago.)

Thank you for all the tips and how to use this service. I haven’t been to WDW since 2000 and can’t wait to go in August. This service will get us around while we are visiting. I am a Disneyland pro so we are taking my daughter to do the Disney college program and will play before she starts. 🌸🌼

thanks for the super helpful vid! i'm going back to wdw for the second time since they got rid of magical express. last time was a last minute trip and we used uber to/from the airport. this time i'm trying to plan it out better and look at all the options. definitely considering mears connect.

Thanks for this review I was concerned about this and still concerned about that Disney dining plan coming back fingers crossed. Hoping it doesn’t be too rough we are going for Christmas this year.
The express service isn't necessarily private, their website does state that in their FAQ. It might end up being a shared ride if there is another party going to the same resort at the same time.

Glad to hear that they have fixed some of the issues. We took Mears in January on their 2nd day, and it was not good. The process getting to Disney was fine but the process to return to the airport was a mess. Going back in August - trying Sunshine Flyer so we have tried both and can decide who to use in the future.
I’m eager to try to Sunshine Flyer as well. It will be interesting to compare!
@@BekahHart I will let you know how it goes. My daughter will be in a wheel chair this trip so we will see how they accommodate for that as well.
Thanks for you review. I loved Magical Express, especially the baggage claim and check process, so sad there is no option like that. But glad there is an option for families so they don't have to worry about car seats that was my biggest concern when I learned ME was going away. My mom is local in Florida so we may use it, we may not, but glad to now we have options. The drop-off time doest sound all that different from ME, so not really a downgrade there.
Absolutely! I know the luggage transfer will be missed by so many. Other than that, and the cost of course, it didn’t feel much different from the Magical Express!
I read on the website that they would be considering luggage service if there was enough demand or something like that. I can’t remember the exact wording. So I hope that in the future maybe that comes back.

Great review, Bekah! I definitely think that they had some wrinkles to iron out, but it definitely sounds like they did. We are taking it back to the airport in a couples weeks and excited to try it out!

Thank you so much for your review! I wanted to mention that you can only add the MEARS luxury service to your Walt Disney World package, not the basic shuttle service. The basic shuttle service can only be booked directly on MEARS website! :)

We just used Mears connect a couple of weeks ago. We only did one way because we were staying at Pop Century for one night before we boarded the Disney dream. We had a great experience. We checked in and walked straight onto the bus. We were one of the last people on the bus, so as soon as we were on pretty much the bus left. And we were the first stop so we were off the bus pretty quickly as well. There was a man in front of us who was super angry because he had paid for the premium service, and did not get picked up in a van like he thought he would, instead he got picked up in this bus and they promised him that he would be the first stop, which is why we were the first stop because he was also staying at Pop Century. He pretty much complained about it the entire ride and about how he was going to call to get his money back. I’m not sure what really happened with that, but we personally had a great experience. We have a family of five, but this trip was just my husband and I. However, I think even with the five of us I would still do this again just because of the ease of it.

I haven't been down to Disney World in over 20 years, just booked my first trip with the family for next year, so never experienced Magical Express. Every time I've been down I've ridden Mears and have never had a problem. I'm sure things have changed, especially since they no longer have Magical Express, and Mears getting use to a new system, but as long as you know going in that you're going to make a stop or two either going to, or coming from, your resort you'll have a great trip.

Wonder if family of 4 (2 kids with 1 stroller) Uber or Lyft will be the same price or close and go directly to the resort or airport? Anyone with experience could you fill me in please.
We used Mears Connect a few weeks ago leaving Disney and we had a good experience! We arrived a little early and the driver let us take a earlier bus.

How did they handle your luggage for you? Do you check in your luggage? Did you load it on the bus? Did they load it on the bus? Also did you tip the driver?

Thank you for this review! We are returning in May for the first time since Magical Express has been retired. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the Mears shuttle service of a large SUV for a family of 5 and how it differs from Mears Connect ? I see that it's cheaper than the Express service of Mears connect.
Absolutely! And hopefully someone can share their experience using the Express service 😊 I’m sure it’s just as great!
Their website says the bus comes every 15-20 minutes. Uh, no. Standing in line right now (7-8-2024) and it’s been 40 minutes with no bus in sight.
This makes me feel so much better about using the service! The bad reviews were a little concerning at first. 😅

I think it would be helpful to know what time month or time of year you visited, how big your party was and the days you arrived & departed. I would think that Mears (like Disney transportation) have full services during busy seasons (Christmas, Easter, holidays, vacation Summer) and scaled back services when the theme parks are not as busy. (I doubt Mears is going to run a full, large bus to WDW with only two people). The day of the week could make a difference as well, weekends being busier and week days lighter. Thank you for your review. I want to take Mears, but I am still undecided. 🤔
Both of my travel days were weekdays during the month of January ☺️ Our bus only had a few couples on it, and the wait times were brief as mentioned. I could see how busy holidays could possibly affect your wait time though. If you plan to travel the week of Christmas for instance, I would go ahead and expect long lines and longer wait times 👍🏼❤️
Thank You so much for this review!!! Question. My adult daughter and myself are flying into Orlando on different flights. How should I book our tickets? I want to make sure we get on the same bus because she will be 30 weeks pregnant lol. However if I get delayed a long time I want her to be able to go ahead without me lol. Very confusing,Hope this makes sense!!!
Great question! I would make each reservation as normal, and you can simply meet up before heading down to transportation floor to get on the same bus ☺️ They’re usually pretty accommodating if you show up a little late to your reservation. So no worries!!
Hi Becca so with mirrors connect I can’t have a clipboard system or a radio that shows all the Disney movies and all of that now? And how can they switched it over to an electronic system?
I’m not sure I understand your question? The reason they things have changed is because they are no longer operating as the Magical Express, they are Mears Connect now ☺️
Have you tried the new Sunshine Flyer motor coach service as well yet?
Not yet!
@@BekahHart You should definitely try the new Sunshine Flyer. The motor coaches are designed to look like 1920's steam locomotives and passenger cars. And the drivers dress like train engineers and conductors. They also give engineer hats and stickers to the kids.
I have a 9 PM flight out of Orlando on my return. Hopefully, we will breeze through security like you did
Nights are more likely to be less crowded 👌🏼 Hopefully that’s the case for you!
Do they still send your luggage directly to hotel on arrival then send to airport for departure?
Unfortunately no. Luggage transfer is no longer offered through Mears 😕

So if it’s 32 dollars per person and you have 3 adults and 2 kids, is it really cheaper than an Uber?
For a larger party with 3 adults and 2 kids, it might make more sense to Uber! It really depends for every family ☺️
What about luggage. Do you pick up your bags then go to the bus?
You pick up your own luggage, and then head to Mears Connect.
Express service is not private, only that there will be minimum waait tim leaving the airport and your resort will be the first stop.
Correct. After this video was filmed, Express service was modified to a shared bus. But private transportation is also available through Mears 👍🏼

You would need to pick up your luggage before heading to Mears Connect ☺️
What time of day did you land at the airport?
It was around 11am ☺️
Do private car/suv service, same price or cheaper than mears. What a joy.
A private car service is a great option too! It’s definitely worth doing the math and seeing what works best for each family 👍🏼
What about luggage. Did you have to pick it up yourself and put it on the bus. We use to get tags…so our luggage was sent right to our room.
You must pick up your bags at baggage claim ☺️
How does Mears compare to others in price

Sunshine Flyer is $17 per adult each way, a Taxi is about $70 each way, and an Uber is around $35-$45 each way, and anywhere from $50-$100 each way for a larger vehicle ☺️

@@daveeckers3222 it sounds like the best options would be an XL Uber or Mears. It really comes down to which would be more convenient for your party ☺️
We used Mears January 22 and 29th. We did not have a video playing from MCO to Disney. Our drive did not talk at all. He said Thank you for his tip.
Our ride back was 30 minutes late. But, the driver that came for the later pick up time took us. He was so friendly. We told him we were not picked up at our time if 12:20 and he said no problem. I will get you to the airport. There were several who were waiting for our time. He loaded us all in. And then came in the bus and said our bus was behind him. But, he told us to say put. He would get us there. He was so friendly.
I did contact Mears. They responded quickly to my e-mail. They did refund my return trip. And then I had another follow up e-mail. I will give them another try. They are so much cheaper than Uber.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’ve heard several similar stories of buses being significantly late like you shared. I’m hopeful that we’ll hear less and less of this happening once the drivers fully learn their new online system. Because you’re right! It’s so much cheaper than Uber 🙌🏼
Great video, if anyone knows where to get info on non Disney transportation. Virtually impossible to get detailed info on transportation for someone stays my in a no. Disney resort like even a partner hotel…. Someone gonna get all the views once somebody makes a video

Did you forget to go to retrieve your luggage? With the Magical Express it was so nice to not have to go and retrieve your luggage and have it magically appear in your room later.
I had a carry on for this specific trip 😉 But typically I would have to get my luggage first, and then head down to Mears. I know so many are going to miss the luggage transfer that the ME offered!
Used this service a couple weeks ago and it was not even close to my past experiences with Magical Express. My family took many vacations to Disney before COVID and I was always happy with Magical Express and even Mears back in the pre magical express days. Because of that I didn't hesitate to book Mears Connect as I assumed the experience would be the same. Instead, we found that despite saying limited stops on their website they filled the bus with a disregard for number of stops. We were staying at the Boardwalk and it took us an hour and a half to get there as they stopped at basically every Disney Springs, Epcot and Hollywood Studio resort along the way. We stopped at Pop Century, Art of Animation, Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Dolphin and Swan. The only reason we didn't stop at the Yacht Club/Beach Club is we were the last ones on the bus. I never had more than three stops on Magical Express in the past. Needless to say, I won't be using this again as the last thing I want to do is sit on a bus for that long after a long flight. On a positive note, on the return trip to the airport, we were the last pickup so it was a quick trip when leaving.
I’ve seen this to be a common pain point as the months have gone on. I agree they are making too many stops per bus. If you’re in no hurry, this could be a great option. But it’s helpful to be aware that you could be making 8+ stops before you get to your resort.
I will stick with Uber cause i am special needs & disability I do not know how to work most apps that is part of my learning disability.I am going in october. & wished they had something more for disability people. That is why I a m getting the disability access pass for disney & universal & other parks. nI don't think they will work with people like me. When I can get to my hotel fast via uber.
It’s definitely worth contacting Mears to see if they are able to accommodate you ☺️ But Uber is also a great option!
@@BekahHart I checked & my Disney hotel is not on their drop off list & Too far to walk..Might as well use what is most easier for me to use since I already have it installed on my phone. Plus I am Horrible with adding new applications & Such.Not everyone can do it.I mainly Use the internet for SHopping & Videos now these days & That's it.Yeah mears connect sadly won't work with me.I told them OK I will take Uber instead.They are not too great with people with disabilities.
