Spirit pilots typically have lower flight time, younger, inexperienced, and without military background. You can see they failed to avoid the rough air, but they will learn eventually. Give them a break if they have fear, fly the big 3 if you want experienced crews.
When I'm United, they will explain AHEAD OF TIME that there will be significant turbulence, and they will do their best to avoid it... and they usually do.
When I see a video like this, or any time I step on a plane, I love thinking back on a flight I took over 10 years ago. We were experiencing turbulence close to this and it was absolutely terrifying. Passengers all around me (including me) started to panic. There was screaming, crying, vomiting - all of it. Right before I was truly about to involuntarily wet myself, I glance over and lock eyes with a middle aged guy sitting right across the aisle from me who looked completely calm and collected despite all the people losing their minds around him. I looked at him as if to say “Are you just looking forward to dying or something?” With a cocktail balancing in one hand (not even a drop spilled) the guy reaches across the aisle and pats me on the shoulder and, with a smile, tells me “relax, you’re going to be absolutely fine - I flew planes every day while I was in Vietnam and you’ve just gotta let it take you while you enjoy this expensive roller coaster ride” Obviously the guy was right since I write to you today, and I actually enjoyed bouncing through heavy turbulence for the rest of the flight and pretending to not care!

On a flight to Berlin from the US my flight also encountered severe turbulence. But the captain came on the PA system and right away reassured the passengers that he had full control of the situation and that he was joined by professionals in the cockpit. He then put on some very relaxing music. After it stopped the flight attendants came down making sure we were all ok.

As an ATP jet captain i can assure you that you should be nowhere near a jet with that attitude and you have never been in severe turbulence….it involves momentarily loss of control of the aircraft. i was on a flight from LA to Cincinnati in the late 80's....Delta, brand new 767, and hit some of the worst turbulence ever. It was right over Nebraska and there were 2 pockets, both lasting about a half hour each time. I never knew a huge jet could be tossed around like a little toy. It was just twisting, dropping, shaking....you could hear the "metallic sound" of metal bending. Dishes came flying out of the galley, everyone was screaming, and yelling. I remember looking back of me and this stewardess was scared S%$#%less...if she was scared, this had to be bad, she does that stuff everyday. People were pleading for the pilot to just land the GD thing...pilot accidentally left his mike open and you could hear him and the ATC screaming numbers at each other...they kept trying to climb higher out of it. Turns out there was a bad tornado outbreak that day in the mid-west and we flew right into it...anyway, finally landed and that flight was supposed to go on to Boston....however, they made everybody get off and the plane was towed away to be checked. I swore id never get on another one and to this day, i havent since.

I was in turbulence this bad. The ladies behind me were crying and saying Jesus oh my God over and over again. A couple people puked in their puke bags which made it harder for me not to vomit myself and the only that kept me a tiny bit calm was a guy in the front row who was rolling with the waves and looking at his laptop liked he had been through this a thousand times before and had no worries. Still grateful to that guy and his phenomenal chill.
I've flown dozens of times, the worst turbulence I was ever in was coming home from Reno to JFK. It was terrible winter weather and the turbulence was so violent. I was convinced we were going to crash and a bunch of people were scared. I know the Jets can handle it but it was still way out of my comfort zone when it feels like your dropping out of the sky every few seconds for the entirety of the flight.
I'll bet I know whrer that Frontier flight experienced the turbulence. My family is scattered along the Rocky Mountains from Colorado Springs Colorado to Billings Montana. Back in the day, Frontier and Western were the main airlines on the north south route. It has been my experience as a passenger and also a pilot to expect some strong turbulence especilly between Billings and Denver. Once the recorded turbulence was such that Froneier cancelled their morning flight two days in a row I remember it because I was stuck in Billings for two days.
The plane later landed safely and everyone cheered, except one guy who rushed to the cockpit and told the pilot..."Hey man I'm not leaving this plane til you tell me what was going on!".

The guy yelling “what’s goin on!?” With the ladies screaming contrasted with the flight attendant’s calm voice for everyone to buckle their seat belt is really a perfect mix for the most chaotic video on UA-cam. 🥇
Notice how everyone commenting on here has had similar experiences and all survived? Don’t stop flying. You’re safer flying 100 times a year than you are driving to work every day. Go out and live life to the max! You’ll be ok!
“What is going on!”
Dude must have just woken up lmao.
Bro that’s literally my uncle on every flight lmao
At least the pilot answered the question
lol funny ..
HE WOKE! 😄 🛩
Lmao
Brilliant passenger: PUT THIS THING ON THE GROUND.
Pilot: Shit, what a great idea. I was just gonna fly around until the fuel ran out. I never would have thought of that, thanks for the tip.
DUde’s the definition of a moron.
@@bobalobalie Dude was scared, he's probably feeling what it feels like before crashing.

@@gumusluk05 That is typical. To me he is more of that typical wannabe toughguy white knight
This video still lives rent free in my head lol.
I've had this nightmare and died in a plane crash many times so I know what it's like, and I can promise you everything is gonna be fine you just wake up to another dimension, no pain at all and no more fear after impact
Passenger: “What is going on!”
Pilot: “I’m shaking the control stick up and down and left and right on purpose.”
Pilot: what you gonna do about it???
I’ve been laughing at your comment for couple minutes now. This is great. Made my day. Thank you. 😭
LMAO!!!
He was putting in the konami code to make it to the next level
Might be the first time I've laughed out loud at a youtube comment, thank you.
"WHAT IS GOING ON?"
Hold on let me ask the sky.
What a f'n stupid thing to say. Together with the "Put me on the ground". Just dumb.
Idiot Frontier pilots flying over thunderstorm updrafts
@@ItsCoreyLynxxYall Shame you weren't on that flight man, could've helped that dude out.
Has this man never heard of turbulence?
Lmao I cried laughing at this comment for a good 5 minutes 😂😂 but really though who did he expect to answer 😂😂
Just watching this shook me up. I don't think I would have lived through that. I know they say turbulence is not a threat, but when something like this occurs, I am all emotion and no reason!
Then you shouldn't fly
@@rrkunath Yes---anybody who doesn't love turbulence should just stay home. Including that entire group of passengers. You sound like a real intellectual.
@user-bu7jl6zy5d if, by your own admission, you're "all emotion and no reason", then you're a detriment to all the other passengers and shouldn't fly. Not everyone. Just you, because of your irrational reaction and admission.

Passanger: what's going on?
Plane: It's going off
“What the hell is going on?”
It’s called wind, sir.
m aloha its not wind, sir
More like local differeces in wind. Air moving at very high speed can be very stable, like the jet stream. Turbulent air is not streamline.
“Put this thing on the ground!” Lol
A black dude doesn't know that term..

Michael Crayton yeah lol I watch videos too you know 😂
Maria Chiș perfect video to watch before your first flight 😂

Nobody really has a fear of flying, it’s a fear of suddenly NOT flying.

I‘m scared of getting into a situation i can‘t control
And i actually like flying and i have alot background information about procedures but it‘s still scary when smth doen‘t feel the way it should feel like
I had that same experience years ago for almost half of the duration of the travel, crying ladies and children were normal, sure is scary but everyone was calm and thank God we landed safely.
Thank fuck someone invented noise cancelling headphones.
I love the dude yelling “WHAT IS GOIN ON?!” like he just walked in on his kids painting the walls with a jar of peanut butter 😂😂

The guy in his dad voice: what’s going on?! had me chuckling. I thought he would say any minute “don’t make me come in there”
Nothing out of the ordinary, just moderate turbulence. As a flight attendant, experienced it many times
The people moaning and crying are the same people that would clap at the end of the flight

There's no doubt that person could fly.
I’m always grateful for chill people
He's probably wallstreetbets admin so he had seen some shit and severe turbulence is the chilliest of them
Religion is pathetic
That man you saw was honestly probably a pilot himself. That or he takes trips for business frequently.
Always reassuring
Lol I've been in worse turbulence than this and no one even cared. I was falling asleep. Literally no big deal.

“PUT this thing on the GROUND” killed me lmfaoooooo

The captain sounded like he was annoyed the turbulence woke him from his nap, that's nothing to those guys.
Passenger "whats going on"
Pilot "not much you?"
