It's a shame there was no decent tutorial and it didn't allow any touch or feel. There's a reason no one liked it. At least there was some variable rumble feedback in Skyrim that let you actually get a feel for picking.

It’s a really great tool and super easy compared to traditional picking, the only downside is you need it to fit the keyway. They have them for the standard keyways you’ll find on most locks in your day to day life, but there are locks that you couldn’t use this on because it’s just the wrong keyway. These tools are really cool and useful and powerful, but they open slightly fewer locks than traditional lock picks. I love how complex his explanations got toward the end. "These are mushroom pins. They are like spool pins, but tapered like a mushroom." "Serrated pins are serrated." *chef's kiss* 👌🏼 💯
The goal of all the pin types is more or less the same, to create false sets. Normally, due to manufacturing tolerances, the core is able to rotate very slightly after each pin is set, but a false set allows toe core to rotate without the pin being set properly, which means you need to release pressure and allow the core to turn back a bit to set the pin properly, and can cause you to let other set pins fall back down. Serrated pins have multiple shallow false sets, spools can have deeper false sets (the core turns and needs to be counterrotated farther)
@@sage5296thank u for explaining all that! I didn't really understand the point of the different pins before I read ur comment. U explained it perfectly 👍👍
@@sage5296does that mean that a lock made perfectly with 0 tolerance would be unpickable because you can't turn the barrel while it's locked and thus can't set any pins?

I love how these locks, that are clearly for training and entertainment since half the lock is missing to see the pins, end up taking longer to pick than a Masterlock.

Watching your videos makes me want to rise to the challenge and make a lock that's impossible to pick. Knowing absolutely nothing about locks could help me by not following the norm or stop me before I've started. Seeing that I'm lazy, it'll probably be the latter.
I have to admit, seeing stuff like this and the lockpicking lawyer reminds me how much of security is security theater rather than actual hard-to-break security measures

The mushroom pinned are going to be on the next priority for locks
Words of a true professional
No idea why, but seeing the inside of a lock is so cool. And that’s all I’ve got to say
Some of his early stuff is really sexy if you like looking at lock guts!

Unfortunately, zero tolerance just doesn't exist. Even applying a little heat would change the tolerances through thermal expansion.
Today I learned everything there is to know about serrated pins.
Picking locks with ease and destroying companies with milk. What can this man not do?
Hey hey hey! That jug was a TACTICAL milk jug!!
This looks like me opening an Extra Hard lock in Oblivion, except for the 14 broken lockpicks.

Such a cool video, definitely helps understand how locks work seeing them in cut away view! Thanks
So good at showing how the lock is actually picked
the click in each pin, is soo so so satisfying.
I am so fascinated by lock picking, I was when I started playing fallout 3 and now you have convinced me to learn this skill
Lishi pick decoders are the fkn GOAT. They make short work of every lock I've used mine on.
Would be interested in seeing this with a bit more tension but super cool demo! Lishis are amazingly useful and can help anyone pick a lock.
