really? i thought *woah that's such a huge assumption* I find it annoying getting asked foreigner questions... like when you have lived in a foreign country for a while you want to be treated like everyone else and have proper conversations not just be probed by dull redundant questions
조성정님 제가 날카로운님 답글에도 남겼지만, 제가 여기서 지적하는 치부는 우리가 저런 질문을 했을때 외국인이 무조건 싫어할거라는 편견을 말한겁니다. 실제로는 싫어하는 것만 있는것이 아니라 영상말미에도 나오듯이 괜찮다고 이해한다는 식의 외국인도 있는 것을 말하는겁니다^^;
The brit girl knows what it is. Koreans make fun of those phrase cuz all the celebs came from overseas got that stupid question during their intetviews
The indian lady's answer is on point. Foreigners just need to break the walls out of it so they can create a convo with the one who knows the best so they go beyond after asking those question. It's vice versa all people ask those question not only in korea, india or america but whole world, if you're curious to what they have in their country. It's like I'm from Philippines and i know Manny Pacqiao but i'm not into boxing 😂
this is interesting! I know this channel is Korea-focused for obvious reasons but I kind of want to hear more from them about their versions of "do you know kimchi"
I always cringe a little when I see Polish people asking foreginers what do they know about Poland, what they think of Polish girls (even if they thought we're ugly, they're not going to say it in your face, come on), when they're trying to show how hard Polish is and give foreigners sentences that sometimes even Polish people have problems pronouncing and also teaching them swear words. I just think we're really more than.
when i was in korea we meet these guys and they wanted to know some words in polish so much and we taught them some but we said we didn't want to teach them swearing but they were like "but we want to know, teach us!" and they taught us swearing in korean in exchange so... xD
I think it's fine what's wrong with it ? just a way to introduce them to my culture or to know how much they know about my country well it's similar here we often ask foreigners "Do you know Kabsa"
The do you know Kimchi question can be pretty weird. If you're asking a tourist, it would be fairly normal. But when you are asking foreigner who has lived here in Korea for 2 years (or honestly more than just a week) then of course they are going to know kimchi and have had it in front of them literally hundreds of times since it is served with almost every single Korean meal.
What the girl said at 1:13, I immediately thought of "Fact Assault" by Psy and GD. "Do you like know kimchi? Do you know bulgogi? Do you know Gangnam Style? Do you know Psy?"
She's adorable, intelligent....I think you all need to be represented more...I don't see much from people from the Baltics on UA-cam or in the media here in the US...other than the silly Russia sensationalist news...
Korean Culture Korea has been a "Kimchi country" throughout its history, and Kimchi is one of the greatest source of pride of Korean people. Accordingly, you had better shout out "Yeah~~ Kimchi~~ Masisseoyo!!(Kimchi is delicious)" without any hesitation, when a Korean ask you "the question" ; "Do you like Kimchi?". It surely makes them happy. It is an absolute law. You can trust me.
I work at a small store in a downtown area that gets many tourists (my city is a tourist magnet for some reason 🤷🏽♀️). Any way I ask all of the tourist the same exact questions and recommend some cool spots. I throw in a ça va? for the french ones though.
I've been abroad a few times and whenever I say I'm from Serbia, people would always be like aaaah Novak Djokovic, basketball, EXIT, ... That's basically what they recognise about us and it's completely normal to ask foreigners about those too
I feel like foreigners in any country will struggle in any country like Korea, where the number of foreigners has only started rapidly growing since the last few decades. I do see why it can get a bit repetitive with the "Do you like kimchi?" but I think when Koreans want to see if you are interested in their culture, they will go to the most obvious, most advertised things about korea e.g. kpop or kimchi.
I'm just reminded of the western makeup video when the makeup artist said she was from France and the girl getting her makeup done said "oh, I like bread." When trying to make conversation, you think of the most relevant thing you might have in common, then realize later "oh maybe that could have been offensive" or whatnot
I have tried kimichi but I don't even remember the taste... Probably I liked it because I wouldn't have forgotten if I hated it lol.. These people are from many wellknown and big countries though. Of course people would know some things about China, US, UK, India, France... It's worse when you come from a smaller country. Most Koreans I speak to thinks that English is Sweden's national language :') bro no... We speak Swedish
That Indian girl's answer at the end was so on point though.
Yeah she seems to be really wise
Exactly!
Exactly same opinion.
Graz Gratz exactly my thought!
really? i thought *woah that's such a huge assumption* I find it annoying getting asked foreigner questions... like when you have lived in a foreign country for a while you want to be treated like everyone else and have proper conversations not just be probed by dull redundant questions
The real important question here.... do you like grilled cheese, bro?
Akaistos / 누리 Don't make fun of me!! 😂😭
Damn it is you! Nah I knew what you meant. And all good - I like grilled cheese. Haha
+Jeffrey Tang 😂😂😂👌
Akaistos / 누리 haha I look like a mess but if you wanna follow me on my adventures in Korea follow me on Insta @jeffreytangaroo
If it's got ham in it then yes.
Jongha Yoon

The last girl's mention is pretty well said about the topic that this video wanna say.

I do like kimchi but I honestly don't mind if anyone is genuinely interested in that fact.
im interested buddy. I like kimchi too :)
Yea we can tell, by the fact that you post it on youtube.
It was an implied message as a response to this video, essentially saying: "No. I don't find that type of question to be cringy."
Ah, sorry. So you wanted to be asked that question, so you can talk about kimichi. Seems legit.
what's kimichi like hehe
Do You Know Annyeonhaseyyo?

Here again to say hey to the Hungarian guy. 👋🏼
I love this channel >w
Do you like hamburgers? Hollywood? Times Square? I guess would be the US equivalent maybe.
I thought the U.S. equivalent would be to ask "Do you like guns?"
Frank M that’s not funny

these cultural type videos are really interesting. they reflect trends and traits of a people and I enjoy watching them. great content.
wrong title, i expect a new upload soon LMAO

first time I've been here this early lol
I always cringe a little when I see Polish people asking foreginers what do they know about Poland, what they think of Polish girls (even if they thought we're ugly, they're not going to say it in your face, come on), when they're trying to show how hard Polish is and give foreigners sentences that sometimes even Polish people have problems pronouncing and also teaching them swear words. I just think we're really more than.
What's Poland like?
omg that's so true.
Honestly, every Slavic country is like that. In Serbia the first thing they learn are the swear words and how to order pljeskavica
Yeah.. it's not just a Korean thing, people everywhere do that all the time
when i was in korea we meet these guys and they wanted to know some words in polish so much and we taught them some but we said we didn't want to teach them swearing but they were like "but we want to know, teach us!" and they taught us swearing in korean in exchange so... xD
That's why I love Solfa
gosh that german guy ♡
And I think Korea will grow out of that stage soon. The "do you like kimchi?" stage.

For Solfa, I'm always ready to watch, even at work!Edit: 1:48 She said "cultural traits" not "trades" lol
Do you know Wakgood? or Teabo?
2:18 he’s actually so cute
I always hear "you can eat spicy?? How??" when I'm in Korea 😂
That Indian girl is FIIIIIRE. Turbo gorgeous.
I love how in the previous video you put the name of the country next to the flag, because I'm not good with flags haha
I work at a small store in a downtown area that gets many tourists (my city is a tourist magnet for some reason 🤷🏽♀️). Any way I ask all of the tourist the same exact questions and recommend some cool spots. I throw in a ça va? for the french ones though.
I almost dropped my phone when I saw a Zambian girl. bloody hell yes 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲
You guys should do an experiment and ask foreigners how do you sing Korean songs when they don’t know any Korean. I be humming the songs so hard lmao.
South Africa Represent 🇿🇦

this is great
Do you know drag queen kimchi?
김미썸 yes actually omg I love him haha
yes actually lol
Can anyone list the countries ? I'm not familiar with most of the flags
why everything must relate to cringey now?
I've been abroad a few times and whenever I say I'm from Serbia, people would always be like aaaah Novak Djokovic, basketball, EXIT, ... That's basically what they recognise about us and it's completely normal to ask foreigners about those too
Peak sword would be delighted to see this XD
