The ummm, no. all that all happened, yeah, but not till after the fact that the US and Russia literally dragged them into the cold war with the US's world wide attempt to hault the spread of communism. we literally divided them into two separate countries with the 38 parallel (Soviet Union influencing the north, US influencing the south) and we built the tension between them because of our tension with Russia.
@The you are full of shit Korea has been self-ruling for literally thousands of years, it's one of the oldest civilizations in existence. just because we were colonized for like thirty years doesn't mean we are suddenly not capable of self-rule. It's pathetic how you are so defensive of the U.S.'s actions, but no, had Russia and the U.S. not illegally occupied Korea, there would be North or South Korea in the first place. The only reason why millions of families were torn apart and thousands died in the subsequent war is because the Russia and the U.S. split up a sovereign nation without the its consent. So, it was mostly the ROK and the US. Did they win the war? No. I don't believe anyone won that one.
