Athearn has never returned any of the several e-mails I sent in the last month. I had questions for them about the first two locomotives I bought from them. One pulses at low speed, the other has a loud motor noise. One part had broken off and was not in the box. I wanted to get a replacement part. What terrible customer service!
Nego. Are you running DCC or DC? If you are DCC I would try a Factory reset on the engine that pulses. This might clear it up. You can find about the Factory reset in your manifacters manual. About that engine thats making a loud noise. It could be anything from a wire rubbing on a part. Or the gears binding from not being broken in. I would have to hear the engine run to see what it sounds like to eliminate things.
I just heard price, price, price. Sorry to be a downer but I wish Athearn would not raise the prices so much. I’m a little bias since I was happy with Athearn products already and I don’t see a point in adding details that no one will ever notice.
Uncle Irv was nothing like this...many months he would barley make anything....I'm pretty sure these guys make decent, got a Tesla and a huge house in Illinois

Call them They probably are working short at Athearn since the Covid thing is going around. Think about that before you badmouth them.

And of course the rep did not mention ditch lights because they still don’t do it on some of their molds

Isn't see through steps a feature on all Genesis models? Thought the main difference was LED, decoder and motor.
The only differences are more LEDs, More Details, and more features overall, but same decoder, and similar if not the same motor
