I'm living for Broski and these AKI changes. His AKI was already super fun to watch and obviously super strong and impressive, but I'm really excited to see more now that AKI has all these new routes and just generally much stronger.
the universal change to back throw into the corner feels like a buff for Jamie, as back throw in neutral already guaranteed a drink but into the corner could leave you too close. now that it forces the distance, Jamie can be disrespectful in more places. love to see it.
Such tiny details being changed having cascading effects such as the light kick to medium whip convinces me that there's no chance in hell i'd be able to balance a fighting game
My salt is that not everyone got the same level of "anti-X" buff treatment AKI got. Gief still just sucks at anti airing. Marisa 2HP anti air is less negative on block because we all know that anti airs are for blockstrings /s Manon anti projectile is still dubious at best. At least Cammy knuckle got ruined, but even then I wish they just made it negative instead of less anti projectile.

My suspicion is that AKI merely got reverted to their alpha build for her character hence such a long list of buffs while others were already done and Capcom struggled to come up with anything.

I think part of this is a compensatory buff. Thanks to the way that they changed parry and perfect parry it's going to be slightly harder to force a burnout situation on your opponent, which is a nerf to Aki more than most other characters.
This is such a great video, as your extensive knowledge o A.K.I allows you to quickly put every change into context. Reading a change on the paper is quite different from understanding its practical implications, so such a video is extremely useful to people who aren't as familiar with the character.

I watched the stream, and a couple things regarding kimberly is that she can still get j-MP after 6HK even with the juggle changes, you just need to do Drive Rush 6HK after you HP combo into her Izuna Drop. With that, you can get full-screen corner carry. Also, L. Vagabond is -3 on block if spaced now, so it actually can be +1 in Burnout.
19:35 I know this is like a month old, but just in case you weren't aware, AKI 236HP isn't actually air invuln on frame 4. They just shrunk the head hurtbox 2 frames earlier

on the drive rush cMK on block its probably worth to mention that if you go straight into HK and the opponent choose to press a 4 frame for whatever reason, you have a trade combo with another HK (or cMP depending on the distance)
These are great buffs! I mainly didnt pick her up in s1 because of her anti airs being sub par but im looking forward to trying her out this season! Gonna be stealing all the aki tech😈
Same, I ended up going to Dhalsim because I like oddball characters. But my boy hardly got anything this patch beyond the universal recovery drive reversal and some minor quality of life stuff. The former is pretty big for him of course, but the patch still feels underwhelming for Sim.

i think this does well to lean into her two-touch assassin kinda archetype, before she leaned too much on her poison to be an okay character. this does really well to round her out. the anti-airs too. those are just nice c:
I'm half way through this vid and paused to see if anyone mentioned the internal testing vid that came out not long after A.K.I.'s release. It was shown she was much stronger before her release and as you're going through her changes these all feel like a list of nerfs they made to her before her release that they're now rolling back.

M Bison, Hakumen, Miyako Arima, Tianhuo, Nagoriyuki and so on... Aki was prob the first real lower tier character I picked and decided to truly stick with. And now there's a good chance she'll be an obnoxious high tier, lmao.
As a Jamie main, I've been eyeing AKI for some time now. Glad to see the low tiers got some much-needed improvement (except Lily lol). Definitely gonna try AKI out now
