It baffles me why people lie to their own lawyers. They are there to help you! Be honest, because if something shady comes up they can't help you if they are not ready. Think of your lawyer as your partner IN crime. They want to WIN! I would think this is/was common knowledge. 🤔
because the ones who usually lie are the ones who deserve the comeuppance
People can't accept any culpability of their own therefore waste the expertise of someone trying desperately to mitigate the damage that culpability is causing. People think with their emotions not logic.
Fr, lying to your lawyer is like giving your only lifeline a pair of scissors 😂 like bruh, they’re trying to help you win, not guess your plot twists 💀

This happened to opposing counsel on a case i had.I work as a landlord-tenant attorney representing landlords exclusively. One time we had a tenant holding over hearing (the lease ended, my client wanted the tenant to non-renew the tenant, and the tenant wouldn't leave after receiving proper notice). We got to court and the opposing counsel wanted the case dismissed because the tenant signed a new lease with my client. My client told me the tenant would likely try this and I showed opposing counsel that my client never signed the lease so it's not valid. Poor guy deflated when he looked through the contract and saw I was right. Guess his client left out that crucial detail.
