The Reload time is very useful makes controlling zones and scaring off larger ships in domination modes. I find this ship similar to the Benham when it comes to amount of torps and ability to fight off numbers of ships when outnumbered in a fighting retreat. All BB players have in the back of their mind they do not want to get torpedo one Perma flood can take them out of the game.
Don't underestimate the psychological effect of a wall of torpedoes. No one really knows how much damage the torps are going to cause when they're just fish in the water. Almost every ship will turn to avoid them, especially if they have just used a repair and don't want extended flood damage over time. And when they turn, they often set themselves up for someone to deliver a blow to their broadside. None of this shows up in any stats except win rate and that only indirectly.
I'm not one to disagree with Xarkun very often but I think he may have underestimated the Jager a bit. I certainly did. The last 72 hours have been quite revealing regarding the Jager because its showing up out there with increased regularity. We have roughly 2 weeks left in this campaign as of this writing. I'm currently on Level 85 in this campaign so I'll be acquiring the Jager very soon. What I've seen so far..... Like Xarkun pointed out, the Jager is fast, stealthy and has the second fastest torpedos in the entire game, which can be even faster with Space Fishy as an inspiration. With that torpedo reload booster the Jager can saturate a flank with impunity and let's not forget that it already has a fast reload to begin with. I've encountered several matches in which a pair of Jagers will team up on a side and smother ships like gravy on mashed potatoes. I've encountered a single Jager doing almost the same thing. And here's the thing...I've played in several matches in which I had a carrier....that refused to spot destroyers, THAT is a huge problem with a ship like the Jager. Complicate that further with DD's refusing to hunt and destroy enemy DD's and you now have a big problem. Any DD can't get too close to a Jager because it can and will defend itself with its fast torpedos and dispatch your destroyer. I've found myself playing gunboat destroyers more often in an attempt to mitigate the Jager, but I have to do it a bit farther in distance than I'm used to because of the Jager's torpedo. reload and speed. Killing a Jager requires teamwork and good luck with that bullshit. The Jager is demonstrating to be a bigger threat than what's been forecasted in this video which makes me wonder if first impression videos are best at the conclusion of a campaign instead of the beginning of a campaign, because the reviewer can dissect how it's being played out there, and what the results of the common play style is producing. I consider Xarkun one of the game's finest players in all of the ship classes. I'd hate to deal with him if he were piloting a Jager. That goes double for Metajerk but i digress. 72 hours is not a huge sample size, but I'm seeing a trend and that trend is demonstrating that the Jager is more dangerous than what was initially expected. Xarkun is correct that it would take an entire salvo of Jager torps to kill your battleship...BUT....the Jager doesn't need to do that because the second wave, and the third wave will be coming sooner than later to address that issue, which is a non-issue by volume and the time....required to provide that volume. I invite Xarkun to re-examine the Jager in the coming weeks because I'm seeing a trend that is worthy of another examination..
GG. That was a nice battle. Maybe its just me, but i think this ship will be as annoying as Yudachi, even if they hit like pillows. Good torpedo commanders will make sure to constantly get floods. Till next, one of your friendly team mates.😊
I think its going to be a fun ship to play around with ... If you are good with aiming torps and manage to set floods you should be able to get a lot of dmg. It will be able to scare a lot of people as a zoning torp boat ... Other tyen that its pretty useless i guess
@Xarkun very true Xarkun, I'm looking forward to getting the ship precisely for the meme game play. Tier VII matches are going to look a lot like Shima heavy legendary matches I suspect.
It's tricky to play well, it's all about staying undetected so I built to 5.1 and I'm landing an average of 15 torps per game. Torps are like being hit by a speeding marshmallow, I landed 11 on a Bismarck which did sink it but also hit a Mass with 2 and didn't do much other than piss the guy off. If you like a challenge it's fun don't you think?
Looks like a different flavored Oster with worse AA. Not really my playstyle with how bad the guns are but seems interesting and I think she has potential.
This ship to me is such a miss match for tier 7, it has some good things, but those do not out to me place it in that tier. As all of its downsides and they are big ones. No smoke, no AA at a tier were Carriers are the at the most dangerous, and bad AA is no bueno, guns that okay, but at this tier are not that great as they are just three and sigel barrel, I hope WOWL well see soon this ship needs to be placed at tier 3, were these downsides are not as bad,
Now that everyone has unlocked their jager the game is virtually unplayable. Those things can shit 24 torps at once on one side. There is no skills involved. They fucked up big time introducing that thing.
I don’t think there has been a campaign ship I have been less interested in. A WW1 era design at tier 7? 3 guns? Weak torpedoes? This ship is boring as hell. I'm not going to invest anything in this campaign, in fact I think I'll be playing WoWS a lot less this month in favor of catching up on other games.

My feeling on it is I have all the *good* DDs I can use at T7 so adding a *weird* one isn’t a bad thing
