- I visited Gulati in Delhi with @worldnomac, a restaurant famous for having the best Butter Chicken in all of Delhi. We had to put this theory to the test and ordered 2 of these dishes with some delicious sides. Afterwards we went to the notorious Baskin Robins for desert and had the iconic chocolate lava cake and it did not disappoint.

Check out the DLF Cyber City while you’re still here in Delhi. Its about a half hour drive, but the restaurant choices and overall food is amazing!

With every bite they take the more depressed I get. I love Indian and Chinese food.....you know 4.5 billion people had to get something right! And they are ancient civilizations too! It took thousands of years to refine these dishes.

By the way, India gave the Number system, first surgeon, Yoga, navigation, metallurgy, distance from sun to earth, first and second Universities of the world, first battery etc. The list of Indian inventions are endless.

Actually foreigners are not served much spicy in some hotels since they're perceived with less spice tolerance, that might have happened to your butter chicken, waiter might have informed chef it's for foreigners.

actually it's butter chicken and lots of butter used in it kinda tones down the spices.
Street foods are spicy.....at home we don't burn our ass every day. In every indian home food is much less spicier

There are no RULES in eating Indian food.
I use utensils when I am unable to wash my hands. I am amazed that Indians will ride a crowded bus and then without washing their hands, they will stop at a street food stall and pick up something to eat without washing their hands.....Yikes!!!! How is it they don't get sick???? Unreal!!!
I was also surprised harry is in india for two weeks and he still didn't figured out which are finger food or fork neither he knew how to combine naan with curries , the indian guy didn't bothered to help him either :)
Local guy didn't have any food knowledge...when Harry asked about the malai tikka he said it was a chicken kabab...

10 years ago the best butter chicken I had tasted was at A suburb of Bombay a city called Chembur. There’s a restaurant called “Grand Central “ there. Very well known for their Butter Chicken. Different than any Butter Chicken I have or had ever tasted. Nothing to match it. Hope they maintained that Unique Recipe till today.

In the uk I think they just add butter to a chicken tikka masala and you can tell I’ve had very different variations of this dish and if you follow the moti mahal recipe you can get a much much better butter chicken it’s all about the smokey chicken flavour and it’s a rich tomato based sauce with cream and butter u love it yummy you can get something in India called a ramali roti it’s super thin and tastes fabulous

Dinner recommendation: ITC bukhara, in delhi it’s famous for Dal bukhara best in the world.
The best butter chicken now is Qureshi restaurant, not gulati. You should also visit Hauz khas village at night

Baskin Robins is there in SL too. There is one located at Colpetty on the way to Galle Face via Galle Road. Guess you've missed it.
If you are still in Delhi- checkout these Restaurants- Indian Ascen(The Lodhi )t, ITC Bhukara and ITC Dum Pukht(ITC Maurya). These all are high end fine dine restaurants. I would personally go with Dum Pukht.
$43 for three people is excellent value for the quality of food you had. I have paid more than twice that amount in London for 3 people.

I wonder local boy with you could not explain food to you like chicken in skewers he said chicken kabab, it was chicken boti, instead communicating with you or Mac he was very busy with his cell, food definitely deelicious.
I thought finally good to see a tourist inviting a local guy to join so he could explain how the food combinations work and what to eat with what, as many tourists just try and experiment on their own and with wrong combination, they get negetive experience. But, wish they had a better local person who really helped them. This guy was almost not there mentally with them. Just sat next to him and looked away. He was busy on his phone, looking away, hardly interacted with them. He should have suggested to dip the naan with chicken. Also, no assistance in telling them to squeeze the lemon in the water for hand wash. When ordering drink, at least he could tell them what it is made of.

I would recommend you to eat in nice (clean)places rather than more often in bad quality places bcz "even more of Indians do not randomly move to a place and start eating " bcz people think of their health first. Also many foreign people "assume" that everything in India is cheap so they expect things cheap . With due respect India is a growing economy just after UK , don't try to save money particularly in matter of "food". I don't want my foreign frndz to get any bad image of India if they get any stomach issues.
