They absolutely can if you charge at home. But remember that's only part of the picture; zero VED (road tax), low company car tax, ULEZ/Congestion Charge exemption...
Cars getting so pricey this year, it's not even funny, we ordered our in march 2022, was delivered at the early summer, since then, same model in exact specs increases its tag by 12%.
the best car here is the one with out faults and recalls you never say anything faults take all the plastic of these vehicles you can not go anywhere remember plastic is bad for the planet when I look on Internet for faults with these vehicles they all have faults so how can they be good vehicles
PHEVs are the way to go as you can run on whatever energy source is the cheapest at the time. Great review guys and I'm glad to see a very unbias comparison.
Is the Nissan Arya better than the Kia EV6? Possibly the interior maybe? If the Sportage had an electric option I reckon it would have pipped it's little brother Niro and possibly cousin Tucson as well.
The Ariya is a more practical car and better serves the 'Best Large Electric Car' category. Don't get us wrong, there's plenty to like about the Kia EV6 - we're big fans!
Well I dont normally take much notice of these sort of “best of” car category videos but have to say I agree with a lot of it, except the electric cars as they are still not practical enough for most people and wont be any good until they develop a new power source which I believe Toyota is doing. Glad to see Skodas, the Fabia DSG is actually the top car on my list as my next car soon as a very long term cash buy. Im used to AWD but dont really need one most of the time.
Any of the nice looking electric cars like Kia ev6 or Mustang Mach e are expensive to buy 47 grand upwards, any affordable ones look rubbish or like something your gran would drive that I wouldn't want get seen in, like Renault Zoe or nissan leaf lol, I happily stick with petrol cars for now till electric cars are more affordable, the new mg4 electric car looks good , so for me would be worth considering as it starts at 25995 brand new an it looks similar to the cupra born which is 35 grand 🤔
When your best car of the year is a Kia Niro, you know you’re in trouble. What a staggering lack of imagination and romance. There are so many better cars out there than that. This channel is for librarians and social workers. Anyone else will fall asleep with this list.
The problem is that since the overall prices are ballooning, Dacia is also somewhat expensive right now, the target audience can not longer afford these cars, as chasing used ones, or even stick with the current vehicles, and other people just go for more established brands.
@@GinoFoto true, time for Dacia to offer 0% or 1.9% (like Toyota) finance! I'd consider any of the Dacia models for my future family without the 6.9% APR
I think Kia/Hyundai, VAG and BMW must have told them don't give us some good press we won't pay for you to fly first class to luxury places. I use to love it when they had loads of variety of Makes it all seems to be fake and all about who pays the most sponsorships.
It's a shame we need to respond to messages like this, but to clarify: our content is 100% independent. No sponsorship - for our reviews, or our awards. We love the 208, but the Skoda Fabia is a more appealing package. It offers family car (VW Golf, Peugeot 308, Vauxhall Astra) space, for supermini money. It's fantastic value.
The 208 has cheap looking styling, those gloss wheel arch trims are pretentious for starters. French fashion car, most keep them three years and trade it in for something else. Nobody buys one for long term ownership. So much waste globally with this way of thinking.
@Raj Nijjer I'm sorry for yours maybe unfortunate experience, though we had Hyundai i30 for 13 years, bought as used with questionable history, and yeah, that car was reliable like stone, as just nothing major went wrong for all those years.
I'm surprised and happy that Skoda is getting attention
Electric cars cannot save you thousands when they cost as much to run as diesel and petrol
They absolutely can if you charge at home. But remember that's only part of the picture; zero VED (road tax), low company car tax, ULEZ/Congestion Charge exemption...
They cost more to buy but are cheaper to run, and definitely make sense for company cars.
And TWICE as expensive to Purchase RIP OFF
@@carbuyer Thats only if your city living in the UK
And include the much higher purchase price, you need deep pockets to buy most of them.

Thank you!
Mazda CX60 would be a great choice.
bro i see a skoda like once every full moon and turns out they are included in some of the best
Skoda are solid reliable cars. Buy one outright and keep it long term is the best way.

Toyota all day!
Wow kia niro winning HEV category over toyota !??!!! Amazing. I am happy to have it ordered !
I'd buy a proper car, not an EV.
A topless Mini is a better topless car than the Porsche 718??? I somehow doubt that..
When it comes to value for money, absolutely. It's 99% as fun, and it can seat four. Cheaper to buy/run too...
I'm missing the Honda Civic 2007

We're intrigued, what would you have picked?
The Niro is not very reliable.
Wish this was not during work 😢
Don't worry, you can watch it back later!
Hyundai and Volkswagen group won majority of the awards lolol
Both are making some incredible cars right now!
Seriously, I can't even watch. We can't buy any of those.
This video sponsored by KIA😂
Why? Because the Niro won? What about the three Skodas? Or the BMWs, Nissans, MGs, Lexus... SsangYong?
These awards sponsored by VAG and BMW ?
With a Kia winning overall CotY? That doesn't make much sense...
WTF! BMW 220D wins best sports car category! Slightly clutching at straws what cars you could actually get hold of I think!
It's the 2 Series as a model that wins Best Sports Car, rather than the 220d specifically.
not one for the Sportage??? wow
The Tucson just pips it for standard kit. Our overall Car of the Year last year still comes out on top!
Seriously an MG??
I enjoyed watching the Video 😊
Thanks Jamie!
Too much Skoda on öne video
First car somehow isn't the Dacia Sandero

That's rubbish mate if you disagree.
Car awards, seems more like SUV awards
These are the cars people buy! And for good reason - they're often more practical and easier to live with than conventional saloon or hatchback cars.
Yes and it’s funny how we all managed perfectly well before these SUV and silly crossover segments appeared. They are fashion cars, nothing more.

No one in the UK has driven the new Honda Civic Type R yet!
Golf❤
Mg4
MG4 was a bit too late to the party for consideration in this year's awards. Bring on 2024!

Unaffordable rubbish
Unaffordable ? All depends on how much money people have. I had finance for years but will be buying one outright next to keep it long term.
I don’t agree with any of these my friends !! All Kia and Skoda
What would you have picked?
Not sure why Tesla did not end up in the list.
Poor build quality; overpriced, boring?
If you're referring to the Model 3, then that's because the BMW i4 is the better car and a more appealing package. Simple as that.
Tesla are garbage
All dead cars 😂
Horrible list of cars. KIA cars are horrible, pile of rubbish.
Kia have better than German fit and finish, better reliability, much longer warranty and lower purchase price
2023 - the year of the ugliest cars ever made.
A coupe has to look good. Why else get one and sacrifice practicality? Did anyone tell the 2 series? I thought the 4 series was contraversial.
