  • Pain in the shoulder with military style pressing is very common, but this doesn't mean you have to eliminate overhead pressing all together. While you are working to address the shoulder pain with treatment or self care, try implementing these variations to prevent yourself from irritating that shoulder.
    1) Arnold Press - this variation is much easier on the rotator cuff especially if you have impingement type pain,
    2) Incline Press - If shoulder flexion and external rotation is limited with you, this is a simple modification to allow you to work within your comfortable range.
    3) Landmine Varitations - This is so versitile. I use this set up in rehab all the way through performance training. There will be some set up that should be comfortable for you.
