      Thank you Nathan! It was an absolute pain! So I’m glad someone knows it lol. Thanks for the comment. The mission switch back wall was way to spongy for me and it was a bit slower which is why I didn’t rank it higher, but still a great bow for the price.

    I shoot recurve recreationally and decided to dip my toes into compounds. I didn’t have a clue where to start, and your videos were very helpful! I ended up finding a very lightly used SB1 at a pawnshop. I don’t think they paid close attention to the accessories on it though. It included a soft case, 6 new Carbon Express Maxima Red arrows and a Trophy Ridge React One Pro sight, all for $240. I slapped my cash down and couldn’t be happier with it.
    Thanks for giving me an idea of what to keep an eye out for, because there are SO MANY options in the compound archery world, and it’s a bit overwhelming to a newcomer.
    Happy new year and God bless

    Nice new techniques practiced in your last video. The cuts and edits and camera angles were nice. I think you're doing a excellent job. On another note the other day I tried shooting through paper and wouldnt you know my arrow went through the target into the sheetrock and half way out my sideing on the back of my house. I felt like a complete idiot and had to cut the arrow to pull it out the wall. But like the guy at shop told me you learn as you go.

    I have the diamond Edge SB-1 and I have killed many deer with it. The bow drives tacks. The world of compound bows can be summed up with one phrase, diminishing returns. These "beginner" bows are so good now that it's almost a shame they are allowed into archery season.

    I just started shooting a compound bow. I picked the infinitive edge pro. And i really enjoy it. It is still a learning experience for me and I didn't wanted to overspend because edge pro is about 100 usd cheaper then SB-1. SB-1 might have and edge over the edge pro (pun intended), but im not planning to hunt with a bow cause it is illegal in my country anyways and for hobby practice shooting i find edge pro really nice. Really appreciate the video and all the technical info you gave. It is kinda complicated going in without any info of compound bows or of bows as a beginner in general.

    I just ran across your videos today. I was impressed with your approach to presenting information and detail to accuracy. I would like to see videos on the lower end older Mission bows especially Menace and Eliminator. I appreciate that you are a Christian (even Catholics are Christians). You won't go to hell just because you aren't a Baptist. Let me suggest you may be better served by appealing to the non Christian to accept Christ and affiliate with the Catholic church rather than showing protestants how to convert. When I talk to people who are new in my area I ask them (if they are Christians) what denomination they are. I tell them where the closest church is to them. I do invite them to visit the church I attend. I believe the most important thing is to find unchurched people. I believe you are doing a great job sharing your faith through a nonthreatening medium. Keep up the good work on both fronts. May God bless your efforts and your family. Glad your son didn't lose his finger.

    I really enjoy the advise you add in your reviews, I am learning a lot.
    I been shooting a Bear G2 for over a year and have enjoying it a lot, the main reason for that one was the cost. There was a ridiculous sale on the bow, and all the reviews was that it was good bow, so, excuse the pun, pulled the trigger on the bow.

    Sean thank you for the comparison and conclusion. I do have one question...I donated my bow to a friend who was in need and could not afford to get into archery. I'm now in the position of needing a replacement. I'm not archery hunting this year as a result but it's not an issue, as I can rifle hunt in two weeks.
    That being said, I would like to stick with what the local shops stock and it seems my options are going to be Hoyt, Bear and Elite at one shop, then Hoyt, Mathews and Mission at another shop. I'm on a bit of a stricter budget than normal, as I did not sell my previous bow. I'd like to stick to a budget option from Mission, Hoyt or Bear. The Mission Switch was on my radar, but I could possibly spend a little more and get the Mission MXR with the better cams. The same would be true for Bear, as I was looking at the Cruzer G2, but could spend a little more for a slightly more premium but still budget option, say the Approach. With Hoyt I believe I'd be limited to the Powermax, which is probably pushing the budget ceiling. On whatever I choose I will probably add/change the accessories to ones I prefer. This is where the Mission bows seemed a little bit better, as I could buy them stripped or their "bowhunter" package isn't as low end as something like the Cruzer.
    My father has a Bear Cruzer that I setup for him a year or two ago so I'm familiar with it and didn't dislike it, but was never blown away either. I haven't shot the new Mission bows yet, but did like the older Hype DTX they made. I shot a Powermax a couple of times and it was ok, if I'm remembering correctly, but don't think it left a lasting, have to have it, sort of impression.
    Any advice or guidance you can give is greatly appreciated. The bow I gave away was a Quest Thrive, which was also ok but I'm not buying another, as the shop where I got it is no longer in business. Thank you.

    Hi Sean I ordered the Bear Species LD even though I only have 28.5 inch draw because it’s what i can afford right now and it was on sale. It says only 310 fps max speed and my question is-is the speed they advertise coming from the 32 inch draw length because its an LD? or is it still at 30 inch according to IBO. I might have regretted getting this bow and should have just went with the SB 1 or the regular Species that rated 330 fps at max draw length of 30. Maybe i can still return the bow.

    I have recently decided to get a bow to begin archery hunting next year. I cannot tell you how informative I have found your videos for my UA-cam research. Definately the most in depth for beginner and entry level bows. I do have a question (which hopefully you do not find annoying, considering you addressed my very question in this video). While I have seen very good reviews on the SB-1 and you chose that for best one, I have also seen complaints about accessory package most notably sights. I fully intend to go shoot at a local store all my choices before purchase, and have shot a Bear, the model I cannot remember right now, and liked it. My question is, if you were getting first bow for hunting, and you were grown and not likely to adjust length but possibly weight as muscles developed, would you still get the SB-1 or would you opt for a higher quality accessory package out of the gate, such as the stinger or G2? I'd appriciate any insight you could offer and I'll be watching as you upload from here on. Thanks for providing guys like me a source for information.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  5 років тому

      It depends on how much money you have. If you can afford more, I’d get the Elite Enlist or Xpedition Mountaineer and buy individual accessories. Most bows that come with accessories already are cheaper accessories. Get yourself a vapor trail v-pro rest and a trophy ridge sight. Quivers, well, I have trouble finding one I like enough to recommend so just go find one you like and put it on there. If you want a cheaper bow, start with something like the sb1 and upgrade the accessories . God bless ya.

    You clearly know very much about archery, and I really appreciate that you share that knowledge. But I think your basis for your choice of best beginner bow, in this video, is bad. It seems to be entirely "higher draw weight is better". So it seems if there was a beginner bow that could go up to 80 pounds, you'd recommend that one. Why? Who needs that? For each draw length, you pick the bow that has the highest draw weight. And then of course with the higher draw weight, it has a higher arrow speed. I'm not sure you use the word efficiency in this video, but efficiency would be arrow speed divided by the effort required to draw the bow (which might be roughly proportional to peak draw weight).
    This only makes sense if there are commonly people with a draw length of 19" who ever need a draw weight over 48 pounds. Or have a draw length of 24" and need a draw weight over 59 pounds, just as a couple examples from your data. How common is that? This is a sincere question, I don't know much about these things, but it seems unlikely to me.
    Again, I do really appreciate the video, and especially your measurement and presentation of actual data.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  3 роки тому

      If one bow holds it's speed as the draw weight drops, that means it is doing a better job transferring the energy into the arrow. That means it is performing better than the bow it is being compared to at the same draw weight yet is delivering lower arrow speed because it is not doing as good of a job transferring the energy into the arrow. The point of the comparison is so that an individual can look at the data that was delivered at his or her draw weight and see which bow performed best. That is why I tested all of these bows at all of the draw lengths. The bow that performed the best out of these tests is what I named as the best bow. It was strictly based on the results of the testing and data acquired. I hope that helps you understand why one bow was named better than another. Comparing bows based on opinion and not data isn't too helpful for people who are trying to make a buying decision, which is why I ran the tests I did and then reported the data acquired. I'd suggest that if you don't like the way I do these types of videos then maybe skip over mine when you see them pop up and look for someone else who is delivering what you are looking for in a review video. God bless you.

There is a correlation between the efficiency of each bow at each draw length, which also changes in draw weight. The data accumulated from testing each bow at peak weight at each draw length (which was decreasing in draw weight as the draw length deceased) was then compared to see which bow gave the best performance. That bow was then singled out as better. Thus, the bow draw length and draw weight were both part of the testing process and conclusion. To see all of the added data that was accumulated for the comparison, view the individual reviews. I did not restate every detail of the individual review in this video as this was just a summary video. However, all of the details mentioned were taken into consideration for these results. www.seansoutdooradventures.com/seans-reviews/

    Can you do a review on the Diamond Edge 320? Also, I see both are still available in the market and on Diamond's archery website but I was told the Edge 320 will replace the Edge SB-1 but I am not sure if that's accurate. Thanks for all your hard work bro.

    Beginner? The Mission Switch has been around for years under different names. Having draw weights up above 40 is not the place to start a young shooter. The bow changes draw lengths in less than a minute. It has a lifetime warranty. Shoots well. Poundage at different draw lengths is meaningless to a beginning shooter. Arrow speed is meaningless to a beginning shooter. Developing an archer is not based on equipment specs.
