Lovely video! I'm not planning to travel to Australia anytime soon, but it's definitely on my ''to go'' list 😍 Would be amazing to travel across Australia at some point!
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback Milla. Would definitely recommend having Australia high on your bucket list to go to, we would love to meet you Down Under! 🙌
It makes sense to wait to buy work clothes, but what about interview attire? How formal is the interview process in Australia for jobs in the bartending/service, retail, etc. industries? Would you recommend packing something “modest” for an interview and how casual can I dress without appearing unprofessional?
Any bartending/service/retail jobs tend to be quite casual here in Australia in terms of the interview process (they care more about you and your personality!). Can't go wrong with smart casual though - we always say dress in the style of the venue/shop you are applying for so they can see you suit the vibe. There is also absolutely nothing wrong with asking the hiring manager over the phone what attire you should wear for a trial shift too. If you'd like to keep it simple, some black jeans and a t-shirt/shirt does the job for any interview over here.
Im not sure if i heard correctly, but I don't believe you can get Herpes from lack off foot protection in share showers. Maybe athletes foot tho! Great video, thanks for the content :)))
Hello When you open a bank account, what do you do about putting down an address? As I know I’m only in most locations for a few days and if things need to be sent to the address I’d be worried I would no longer be there! And a similar question with Medicare and putting an address down Thanks
Hey, thanks for the tips. I've been watching the whole series about working holidays and it's been super useful. Please could you let me know the name of the facial moisturiser that you mention when you talk about sunblock? Also you said not to bring boots - did you mean walking boots or stylish knee high boots 😂? me and my partner are big walkers and have hiking boots, so just wanted to check what your thoughts are as to whether we pack those? (mine are fairly new so hoping wasn't a waste of money). Thanks
1º YOU ARE GORGEOUSSSS 2º thank you SOOOO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!! this video is amazing 3º the pills for period must be carried on with a doctor paper 😩 4º do you think if I take a transparent ziploc bag with BICARBONATE OF SODA/ BAKING SODA It will cause probelms1?!?!?
@@WelcometoTravel You'll probably never see this but it feels incredible to type that I'm coming in July 2024!!!! 2 years after I first watched this video I've finally got my Visa in hand!!
Hey Rohan, if you're not having luck with Kathmandu I definitely recommend checking out Osprey. They're another fantastic brand and most of the 70L ones will zip open the full way so you can still access everything at once rather than the old school top access ones that get annoying. I believe it's also the Farpoint style that has an attachable day pack that zips on and off to the main large backpack. Super convenient
Very true! Gotta protect the old head in the Australian sun. We're planning on doing a What To Pack video (male version) soon. Will make sure the hat is included 🕺🏼
Love this video! What is the largest backpack that could be taken on as a carry-on? I really don't want to check luggage but will be travelling for a year so I'm conflicted
This depends entirely on the airline rules, they will specify a weight limit (which for carry-on) on international flights tends to be between 10-15kg, and other more budget airlines will also have a size limit. If you're planning on traveling Australia for a year I don't think just bringing just carry-on luggage will allow you to bring everything you need.
You don't need any special footwear for swimming, but you can rent a stinger suit for swimming, if you go on a boat tour in either Arlie Beach or Cairns, since there are a lot of jellyfish in those areas :) Other than that, a few of the cities on the east Coast have Lagoons you can swim in.
Hi Sandrine, do you mean whether it's safe to check in a backpack on a plane? Because it definitely is, just like checking in any other form of luggage :)
Hey, unfortunately there is no definite date yet when the UK-AUS Free Trade Agreement will come into action. We're monitoring this closely though and will send out an email once we have more info/confirmation. If you'd like to be updated when this happens, you can sign up to our newsletter here: welcometo.travel/australia-covid-19-travel-updates/
Hey guys, it's now looking like May could be when the UK Gov sign their portion and from then it will only take 30 days to officially come into effect so fingers crossed it's before the middle of this year!
Hey Ava, we'd probably advise against bringing a sleeping bag. They could take up a lot of room in your bag and if you are staying in hostels all bedding is provided. You could even buy one out here if you needed one for camping, van life etc! Cheers :)
BEST TO HAVE A MEDIUM LUGGAGE U KNOW IT IS NOT EASY TO TRAVEL I WOULD SUGGEST A LUGGAGE AND WORKING BAG AND U WOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEMS BUT AUSTRALIA WOULD NOT LET U TAKE ANYTHING ELSE UNLESS IF IT IS IMPORTANT OR WAS
Are you familiar with the Working Holiday? You can travel and work whenever you like over a period of time so when you're not backpacking you can choose to stop and work anywhere in Australia. Employment opportunities range anywhere from hospitality, retail, customer service, corporate work, farmwork, trades etc etc.
Thank you for this video! One question I've been thinking about since I'm going there in September. I've seen that you're allowed to bring medication for 3 months. But how is it with the pill? does that count or can I bring a year supply? Thank you!
You can bring as much as you want, it depends entirely on what your Doctor at home will prescribe you in the one go. Customs/immigration to Australia do not care about how much medication you bring over and especially not for the pill if you pack 12 months worth. Hope that helps!
If you are planning to do lots of hikes I would get a litre bottle if space allows! Defo make sure to get an insulated one to keep your water cool either way
Hey Mariah, where did you read this? If that's coming from an Australian Government official website then it's definitely not enforced. In regards to the pill I know for a fact this would not be an issue as everybody travels with more than 3 months worth because otherwise it would be very unrealistic for customs to enforce something so unacceptable 😅
usually videos over 15 minutes lose me in the first 5, yours didn't though!you explain super well, I'll be back for this video when I go.
Thanks so much Sabrina, that's amazing to hear! Glad that we could help, we cannot wait for you to come to Australia 😊

I got them in Mexico actually! So glad I bought them while I was there 💃
Love this and very good tips! I am taking my dyson dryer tho for my curly hair 😂💛

did you check in your backpack or put it in the overhead bin?

I took a 40L backpack with me for 3 months of travel, and it was classed as a carryon!
Hi!
Do you think I'll need this special footwear for swimming on any beaches in Australia? Or it's usually sandy and safe?
Thanks 😊

so your "work" that you mention is to go backpacking?
i.e. you wont be operating from a home Base and would be constantly traveling for work?

Does Australia have refilleries? I try to refill my toiletry products as much as possible 😊
Hi! I can’t find the kathmandu jacket on amazon! Any advice?
Try the actual Kathmandu website, just any light weight down jacket will be perfect for travelling 😊

Can I ask how tall you are please? I think I want to buy it, but I’m worried it will be too long for my body 😅
LOL! Fair question, I'm 173cm to be exact
Omg!!!! I am heading to Austrália next month on a working holiday visa and I was planning to take 2 luggage 🤭🤭
Would that be a mistake though?
1 big bag, 1 small bag. Don't make either too heavy (you have to carry it). You can always do laundry/buy stuff out there.
Exactly!
