I keep coming back to Ludwig. I have tried so many because I love all drums, and they are all good. But Ludwig just sounds like my perfect sound, how drums should sound to me.
Wow that Pro Beat kit has so much beauty in it's sound Ive just decided I can't go on living without one.
Great sounding kits...but it's the drummer that makes them sing...definitely a new fan of Steven Wolf....what a groove.
In my opinion this is got to be one of the best Ludwig drum demo videos ever. Great job Ludwig. All their videos should Look and Sound something like this. After watching this video it makes me want to go buy a Ludwig kit. 👍👍
I already have 2 Ludwig kits and could use another. Great drums!
Have not heard many drum recordings that sound this good. Of course, with this guy playing, they all sound so good. Would not know what to choose.
Ludwigs just have that sound. Love them !!
Ludwig drums are awesome! American made and sounds great. Have been playing for over 20 years. I love my Ludwig drums!
I love the sound of these kits big time!
My favorit outfit is the FAB all the way!
Ahhhhhh that Ludwig sound 😊
The toms on The FAB bring tears to my eyes. Beautiful. Gorgeous playing as well, of course!
Love Ludwig snares, especially the first one...hammered brass..
My first drum was a Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum when they were being made in Elkhart, Indiana. I love being a Hoosier and I appreciate everything about Ludwig.
Great video, Ludwig... all of the kits sound fantastic and Steven's playing is, obviously, incredible.
I love my Ludwigs! Plan on buying a couple more.
The hammerered brass snare sounds fabulous.
Incredible
The best thing about this video is the first Snare . What a pure sound
This video is amazing!
And his drumming too!
What a tremendous drum sound!!!! Love ludwigs.
Very cool Steven [and Ludwig]!
Pro Beat Outfit all the way. Love the sound and bottom end of those shells.
Ludwig found the right guy for the demo
Thanks Steve. We have played with some of the same artists. Love your explanation of the differing sets but the versatility each kit possesses. My custom classics from the mid 90's still sound oh soooo good, and oh sooo Ludwig! There is a difference.
Thanks so much for doing this Ludwig!
Love the green sparkle!!😍
Whole lot of love that found. Damn that shuffle!!!!
He has such a fluid relaxed style; an ability to make playing tricky grooves appear effortless is indicative of excellent musicianship. As for the kits, nothing tops them. You can have your DW. My favourites: the jazz and the Sky blue set.
Those ghost notes that start at 3:50 are perfect dude. Awesome drumming and beautiful sounding drums.
these kits sound perfect ...
great sounding kits
What’s great about Ludwig you can choose different sizes & colors & styles 🥁Ludwig rocks
Ludwig and Gretsch....my favourite drums of today’s new kits.
3:29 I fell in love with!! Sick set wow!
best drums I ever heard
I have the 1967 deluxe classic set all original, pedal, hi hat etc, I recorded with it once and the engineer said they sounded great
You know what would be nice? A classic Maple or Neusonic in Yellow Cortex... don't let me make that order with with Gretsch or DW I'll do it if I don't see a solid yellow finish next season 🤑
Awesome video! Super drumming, THE best drums in my opinion. I own a 26x14, 13x10, 16x16, 6.5x14 Ludwig Classic Maple in natural laquer and I've never looked back.
Ludwig play some killer drums. I love Black Beauty snare.
@Cassandra Garcia
You're too expensive, amiga! :-P
I'm just messin' with ya! Lo siento!
The Ludwig Classic Maple's are really well-built, good quality kits, and are made in the U.S.A., so they are priced accordingly. :(
A few years back, I needed a decent kit for our practice studio and for giving drum lessons. Wanted something decent, but without breaking the bank.
Ended up finding a brand new Mapex Armory 6-piece Studioease Fast Tom Shell Pack w/ Tomahawk snare on sale for $700. I didn't really need all of the extra toms, but they were basically free at that price, so I figured why not have the options?
Slapped some new Remo USA heads on them and the quality and sound blew me away. I'd have no problem gigging or recording with this kit.
They look great (Transparent Walnut finish), are easy to tune, and have really nice hardware IMO. And I still see these on sale all the time.
My first love will always be my Broadkaster kit, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Mapex Armory. Truth is, there are A LOT of excellent drum kits available now for not a lot of money.
And you can get silly good deals on good used drums on eBay & Craigslist if you keep your eyes open and respond quickly. ;)
I have 2015 classic maples in 24" 13" and 16" floor tom. I added a second 18" floor tom and a 14" rack tom. They sound fantastic live and recording. I get lots of compliments on their sound. They are a very versatile kit for the money.
I agree with you. I have 24x14 bass, 14 rack, 16 and 18 floors. So versatile depending on heads used and tuning they can fit into any situation. I have different heads and cymbal setups for different assignments and they just work.... always.
I love this sound :)
Burning Leaf I hate everything about Ludwig but the sound.
The Clubdate and the Jazzette are great! If I could only pick one I'd go for the Jazzette.
Ludwigs have been used by many of the world’s greatest drummers for years.
You can see why.
Big open sound.
Nice sounding drums.
Honestly nothing can touch the sound of Ludwig👍
canopus
Thanks for that. Now I have to sell my DW Collectors Maple kit and get myself some Ludwigs, These just have a lot more life than DW Maple shells. Dammit.
I've had both. The DWs don't hold a candle to the Ludwigs. Never thought I'd say that.
Eric Jackson 100% agree!
Agreed.
Easy reason. Despite all of DW's hype and claims, you can't just dismiss physics. DW's are overdamped by all those HUGE and HEAVY turret lugs that weigh down the shell and act like wood clamps. "Tambor matching" goes out the window when you add POUNDS of metal. Just on the basis of much smaller lugs alone, the ludwigs will sing better. My 1979 Maple/poplar/maple sing better than collectors maple.
Nothing to add to all these comments. Just a huge AGREE WITH YOU.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👑
Lomg life Ludwig. ✌️👑
Ludwigs have more life in their sound, both maple and mahogany.
What snare is being used.
Better value than some other very expensive kits on the market today.
After all- in my opinion, Ludwig sounds best
I really like your snare and base drumm technique it unique and definitive impressive I think others would use a lighter strike but it's great
I had the 14"x 20" and it didn't seem to cut it for live rock gigs. Once I moved to a 22"x16", the larger bottom end was there.
So do I, 22"x16" is great size.
What do you find is the best tuning for these Ludwig snares.... top and bottom.
I like his moves
24 inch bass sounds great.
This shows there’s nothing wrong with the rack tom being used with a snare stand, like some people suggest, but I still prefer the old fashioned tom holder, that’s been used by the greatest drummers of all time.
What ride cymbal is he using ? It sounds amazing
The maple classic is definitely going to be my next kit. Idk why but I think they’d look sick with some dw hardware
Would liked to have heard the Jazz Festival snare, with the Fab kit.
That’s what Ringo used.
Great demo video. Is it just my lyin' eyes or is he getting these tasty clean ghost notes while holding the sticks way back toward the butt end?
My absolute favorite combo is 20" kick, 13" tom, 16" floor, hands down. I have a '63 red sparkle kit in this config and it's just amazing. Shame they don't make that combination often.
I have a 60s MIJ Pearl in Black Diamond in the same sizes. Cos the shells are three plys, I can get away with tuning the 13" tom up a lot for jazz, and down for rock. I can get heaps of low end out of the bass drum as well
Hello,
can you tell me if the Ludwig classic maple that you present are high tuning or low tuning?
Do these drums exist as well in high tuning or low tuning?
Sincerely,
Dominica
The red sparkle in the video looks darker than the red sparkle I seen at Sweetwater Music during GearFest last year. Could the color in the video be red garnet?
For my club gigs i stick with my super classic downbeat. But if I had the luck of having an endorsement, it would be the 13-16-24..
Love to know what the exact specs of the cymbals were? Zildjian K’s I think , 15 hats , 18” crash ,22” ride 20” crash ?
I have the Ludwig Classic Maple Pro Beat in Green Sparkle with the Ludwig 6.5x14 Black Beauty with an internal tone control. The only difference between my kit and this green sparkle is that I have Paiste 2002’s
@@rainsong7327 14x22 is all you need. That size can do anything.
If you play a Ludwig 24 you'll never go back to a 22. You might go to a 26 though like I did.
Rico Sierra have the same setup and color and cymbals. Just amazing combination!!
@@rainsong7327 that's like saying you don't need different sized toms or that a 16" ft is the same as an 18" ft.
How do these compare to vintage Ludwigs.
On the first kit, bass drum looks like a 16" depth, not 14"....
Hell'o!!!!!
Can you tell me which model of snare drum is used on the MOD Outfit Red Sparkle drum please?
Thanks!!!!!
YOUNG DEVILS LB416 5x14 Black Beauty
Thank you Mike!!!!!
Can anyone tell what cymbals he is using?
Are these Ludwig drums all made in USA or do these drums have parts from overseas e g from China?
@Petrus Toxy
The shells are made in North Carolina. However, I'm fairly certain that all of the lugs, hoops, and hardware are made in China. I think the entirely assembled drums need to be comprised of 80% U.S.A.-sourced parts to be legally marketed as "Made In U.S.A.". It's a bit deceptive IMO.
When I heard the sound of the Fab Outfit Kit, I sang the lyrics of Ticket to Ride. You know what I mean.
Cymbals???
A bit surprised no Ludwig Classic Maple snare was used...
The hammered brass sounded best here.
I prefer the sound of the hammered brass snare here, over the Supraphonic and Black Beauty..
Bass 🔉! How low can you go? You guys forgot the all important 26" Bass Drum.
“On the drums Mr. Bun E Carlos”........Rick Nielsen
03:28! 5+
A bit brighter than the Ludwig Mahogany, but I prefer the warmth of mahogany...it’s more vintage sounding.
A lot louder than the Mahogany Legacy in my experience tho
After all these years of playing, I never understood why not all drum sets come with matching snare oh, I know the snare is the center of the drum set, but if you're going to pay all that money oh, don't you want the drums to match?
Great sounding snares...
Ludwigs and Gretsch....you can keep the rest, including DW, in spite of all their high profile drummers.
The rest of us are probably paying for all the endorsement deals anyway.
They are great marketers ...give them that.
Do you really need to advertise and confirm the qualities of the classic maple kits?
William Fotiou Γεια σου ρε πατριώτη!!!
Drumazing Greek The answer to your question, YES!
Kinda choked sounding could be the mics though
rubbish sound, unimpressed
