Matt, thanks for the videos. I happen to be there Friday the 10th in the early morning thinking we would get out. Unfortunately, we were on and off our plane twice for a total of 9+ hours, only for the crew to run out of time that evening. You should look into why the lack of de ice stations that day. Also, why only were the southern runways open and not the northern runways. The pilot told us there were 41 planes waiting to de ice that day around eleven. Just after one or two Friday, they opened another de ice station, over near air cargo along with the northern runways. Quite a bit was cancelled. Yes weather, but the airport was grossly not prepared. Charlotte on the other hand had over forty de ice stations with very little wait time for departures.
Is it the ATL airport that is responsible for deicing operations or via 3rd party contracted by airlines? I would think the latter, since airlines operate airplanes, not the airport. Airport would be responsible for the airfield.
@ To my understanding- each airline is responsible for de icing their planes. The airport is responsible for setting up proper areas to de ice along with keeping the taxi and runways open. Frankly, it was a total failure of preparedness. Only the southern runways were open, lack of de icing stations by the airline and airport authority, and throw in an aborted take off due to engine fire, you have a total mess. Delta did not open another be ice station until after noon time, the same for the northern runways. Speaking to a captain of another airline, his comment was this was cost mitigation.
Nice job Matt! And Tornado is so cute! 🐾
Thanks Matt. You always inject a healthy dose of enthusiasm into your videos and this is one of the reasons that they are better. :)

Get ready for Tuesday and Wednesday, I'm down in Columbus and the forecast is showing snow for me.
Not sure it Matt heard the news. Atlanta is no longer the 🌏 busiest airport. Dubai is now the heavyweight champion. That's what I have heard
