Kurt was a boss bro for being a lead man singer/guitarist with no live backtracking and songwriter for hes time... bringing punk into the mainstream along with bands like: " L7, PIXIES, The Melvins, Soundgarden, shonen knife, bikini kill, sonic youth.
To think that at one point in time. Nirvana was opening for sonic youth. That must of been one hell of a show too!

Here’s a Nirvana video literally no one has reacted to. Nirvana “Serve the Servants” live on “Tunnel” Rome, Italy 1994. There’s a ton of context for this whole final stage of the band that’s, but here’s the essential info:
This is part of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s final TV performance just 40+ days before his death. At this point, Kurt was tired of the whole thing. His addiction and relationship with his wife was taking a toll on him. He also didn’t want to go back on another tour, but was pressured by the record company to promote the “In Utero” album while it was still hot. A lot to read, but I think you’ll see why this context is so important when you see his demeanor during the performance despite having one of his best versions of this song.

As for the song - I found you with your Doors reactions. They're my #1 fav. With all music, but especially in Rock, knowing where they come from helps understand what they do.
The Doors came from an era where bubble-gum poppy stuff or Christian country ruled the airwaves. They were part of a very rebellious generation that didn't vibe with that. Couple that with college in California, beat poetry, philosophy, and theater/movies, along with a load of new drugs hitting the scene and the sound and content makes a lot of sense.
Nirvana were a bunch of low-to-lower middle class kids in a poor logging town that grew up on underground punk and 80's rock on the radio. Shunning anything nice, fancy, clean, or expensive was their way to rebel against the rat race they saw trap people all around them. The music reflects that. Grunge is a dirty, varnished version of the OG punk they came up on but with pop music song structure.
