I hope this video goes viral! The older I get, the more frugal I have become with my hobbies. You have to be disciplined, but it gives me an evil grin to know the credit card companies are paying me. Thanks Tim! This is entirely in line with my Hoopty Barn builds! For example on the Blue Goose (1931 Plymouth) build. I purchased the donor truck for the drive tain, steering column, wiring harness, etc for a reasonable price and sold the components that I didn't need to offset the initial cost. I purchased the other necessary items mostly from the salvage yard. And then improvised on the rest. My total cost of the build (not counting for my labor) was left at less than $2,000 and have been offered $7,500 cash which of course I turned down. Point being, as you said, Im having fun! No debt!
Thanks Mike! No doubt from us here at 318WR that the Hoopties are enjoying the hobby and keeping it affordable. No doubt! Keep up the great work you do there Mike!!!
This might be the the most honest video I’ve seen on UA-cam exactly true who cares what other people have just have fun I’ve got an old beat up 75D 100 and it’s a blast stock 318 with a ton of miles on it
Right on Tim. I am a frugal person by nature. It has taken a lot of restraint to not put a stroker kit and trick flow heads on the card. Going fast is fun but living comfortably is fun too.

This video has perfect timing, with all the inflation and everything getting so expensive, we must all use caution and still have fun at the same time. Last year I went through a phase where I was watching some UA-cam videos and feeling inadequate because I did not have a car that would do 10 second quarter miles. Then I had to remember why I started this hobby in the first place. It was to have fun. Not to feel bad with peer pressure on expensive parts. Swap meet what I do, I bring a few hundred dollars and if I don’t have what I need to buy something I just don’t buy it. Great we all needed to hear this. I’m sorry about your friend and his situation. If there’s any good that can come out of that at all, it’s the lessons that you just said.
Very good advice! Most would benefit by just living within their own means and not going out on the proverbial limb. I hope your friend recovers from his situation too.
The most fun I ever had with the hobby was when we could only afford one car. Never went in debt for anything, but had to keep it running if I wanted to go to work. The first couple of years it was a 71 Demon with a mild 360. When we were expecting our 3rd son, we thought a 4 door would be nice, so we sold the Demon body (kept the 360, 904 and 8-3/4) and bought a 71 4 door valiant. Yup, I put the 360, 904 and 8 3/4 in it. That was our only car for a long time. Tried several different cams, and gears from 2.76s to 4.56s. 3.23s and 3.55s were my favorites. good for the street and decent in the 1/8th mile. Very tight budget, but lots of fun!!! Did lots of trading with mopar friends for parts. Now life is swinging back that way, we are going to be using a long time project for our daily again, finishing it up on a tight budget, and loving it!!!
People need this reality. I was on Dr. Diff and almost charged S60 looked at price in cart pulled card out. Figured i would sleep on it and in the moring looked at bank savings and ordering new axles for $300 and not $3,000.
Liked and shared man. Very very good advise. People ask how we have acquired all the projects we have, and how we got them so cheap. Well, honestly, it's usually from situations like you are showing here. I held off on doing anything with my 1940 Pontiac because a friend got into this trap. I bought it from him for his $ with the promise that he could buy it back if he got back on his feet. All for a "street car" that will never really see the street.
Thanks Tim. Sorry to hear your friend is in trouble. I have seen this scenario play out in just about everything. Not just hobbies. Buying to expensive of a house or a car or truck, etc. I hope things will be better for your friend soon.
I believe in "BUY ONCE CRY ONCE" but I always pay cash on the barrel head for it. I REFUSE to go into debt. If I can't pay cash for it i need to save more money.
One of the reasons I enjoy your videos: common sense. A very rare quality these days. I used to have a magnificent 65 Impala coupe with a 283 that I enjoyed very much and I kept hearing people say stuff like "It would have been way cooler with a 396 or a 409"... Yes it would be cool but I didn't give a damn. Same with my current beautiful Satellite, it's only got a 318 but it's so much fun and I like it the way it is. Sure a 440 could be even better but, as said in the video, I have other priorities and all my stuff is mine, not the bank's.
Tim! You hit it on the head. What used to be fun has gotten crazy. Stuff that was almost free has gone out of this world. I hope your friend gets his stuff together soon cause I don’t like to see anyone get in a mess like that. Some times it sounds like a good idea to go that path but sometimes it bites you in the buttocks. Good video Tim . On that line was thinking of a duster some time ago but as you said the cost of stuff. Yeah. Still a dream but at this age I don’t think it’s going to happen but there’s still hope.
My Grandpa told me back in the early '70s, if you can't reach in your hip pocket to buy something you want, then you don't Need that. And if you Want it for Real, you can work harder and Save until you can Buy It.
Well said Wisdom! I agree one hundred percent especially the " real time" it takes to do a project . Addiction comes in many forms. Mortgage/ rent / necessities than maybe if theres any money leftover you can put it towards your hobby . Lastly we dont have a printing press like the Fed does......
The ‘ machine shop ‘ comment is brilliant ( and mostly true) I have built fantastic engines in sand pits ( figuratively speaking) with excellent results
Great video. The way I see it, I have more fun with the cheaper, more available stock iron heads than aluminum heads, for example, because of less stress when something goes wrong. I don't need to be faster but I do need to stay within my budget. Thank you, keep having fun.
Great video, you make alot of sense. I have that friend who is super knowlodgeable, and does so much research. Every time I tell him about a low buck build that I'm doing, he has several reasons why I'm doing it wrong and should upgrade everything in the engine. Most of the time like a dummy I listen to him, darnit!
One thing I've said for many years is that you should have a relatively clear picture of what you want to do with a project before you tear it down for a full resto. I've seen it a million times, and even made the mistake myself. Plans change for this or that halfway through and you have to fork out much more money than you would have if you had stuck to your original plan. I know a guy who has $35k+ in a pile of parts and the car is still in a million pieces because he has changed ideas too much. I don't figure he will ever get the car done.
I remember a quote from Dave Ramsey. Want to stay broke? Than do what broke people do. You want to live comfortably? Than learn from and do what folks do that have money and little to 0 debt. It's actually easy. It's all about discipline
Build it for you. who would take a 57 D100, and a 69 Fury parts car. Weld in the front sub frame, only to realize you have to cut out half the fire wall due to engine set back from factory V8 and 2 spd push button. I was a teenager, pre internet. Early 80's, so things just snowballed. No mig welder. Just a lot of blood,, sweat and tears. It's why over 40 years later I still have her.. Lost my dad 5 year ago, he was the master mind of this project, lost my mom this fall who did the interior. It was a low budget 80's build that still turns heads. And to me it's priceless.
This is so true and you couldn't have said it any better. When I bought my pinto and was so excited about buying it with my own money that I saved up my own brother told me not to fool with it and if it was him he wouldn't fool with it either because it wasn't a desirable car .😡 I told him that I didn't care how desirable it was that I was building it for me and me only and that I would have just as much fun or more with my pinto as he would with his car and had the nerve to laugh saying his car would be running before mine because he already had enough money to build his as i was going to have to build on mine as i could afford it. Well it took me a little while to do it but guess what mine was running first because he may have had all the money but I had all the know how that he didn't have to put his car together and I made damn sure my car was running before his to teach him a hard lesson, I couldn't believe he was acting like that towards his own brother. So sadly lots of times even your own family says that you have to have certain things to be happy but he was dead wrong because I love my pinto just as much if not more than any other car out there and he has learned a hard lesson in life.
@@318willrun thank you, I love all of your cars as well along with your channel, I know good people when I see them and that's why I stayed around so long is because you're so relatable and you have cool cars from a different breed as mine but they're still cool. All I have is this undesirable Pinto as my brother calls it. 😭😭😭. 🤣😂😅 but I love it too its fast and makes me happy 😊. Thanks, Anthony Tatum and a.k.a Beans 😁
This is great advise, and you are spot on when you say you can have just as much fun with low buck stuff vs. the high buck stuff. I have always been very frugal, and there is nothing better than when frugality pays off. Just by avoiding the temptations of expensive paint jobs and performance parts, and instead working with what I have and what I can afford, I now have more money to work with. Hobbies are supposed to be fun, a way to escape the stresses of life, but going into debt with a hobby does the exact opposite.
If I can't afford it,,, Right now, "cash in hand" i can't have it.. Yeah its not for everyone, sometimes a drag,, but it's honest,, My daily driver 68 Dart Grandma special Slant6 to V8 swap, Driver level restored, enjoyed everyday, rewarded everytime she starts, runs under my Work and effort... 318/A904, stock 7 1/4 rear, Cast Heads and intake manifold with rebuilt by me Carter BBD,, Spirited runs to work at 85mph , rolls to 110mph ... Laughing all the way.... Weird how peer pressure still affects some folks.. Great Video Brother and message, God bless...
Wow brother your so correct what a shame your friend got into this situation I can see your feelings on this he must be a good mate your advice is worth more than gold I do follow this philosophy myself my old 1930 Plymouths 1 is going I can drive it doesn't look perfect a bit rattly and my grandchildren and myself just love mucking around in it great video brother hood
Tim; sounds like he completely lost track of what the sport/hobby is about having fun. I hope and pray this man finds his way out. Great Job on what had to be tough duty to put out there.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
I often wonder how some of these people can afford all their stuff. I agree with you. We set money aside for my car, and I have given it up often to take care of home/vehicle necessities. Great points and video Tim.
Man Tim I was bringing home the only pay check when me and my wife raised our three kids and i was so broke i had to ise credit to buy diapers. It took me decades to finally become 100% debt free and i encourage everyone to get debt free as soon as you can. Its a far better way to live and once you turn that corner you can start saving a paying cash for things you need or want. Good advice Tim👊
Great message. My personal experience is, I don't care what other people think. I will build my car the way want and more importantly what I can afford.
outstanding video sir. social media (fb, youtube, etc) and our own enthusiasm along with the other things mentioned can really come back to haunt us. it can happen to the best of us and a reality check like this is a rare thing these days.
Probably the best advice EVER on a UA-cam car channel. I have 4 "toy" cars and have not borrowed to buy anything for them. I don't have the cost of a new pickup truck in all of them combined. Great advise, GREAT video. Hope your friends get it figured out. (His HOUSE?!?!?!...YIKES!)
Agreed Tim . I'm not part of a click or the popular groups on youtube and just do my own thing and work on my project vehicles when I can when God allows it as well as time, money weather and work schedule . my channel like yours is about being frugal . Using what you have or modifying it at home for free or for a couple of dollars or saving up for a while to get that expensive part . I dont have credit cards just a debit card or cash and a small budget .I also dont care what people think of me or my vehicles . I run my channel how I want and not how someone else wants .Same with my vehicles. I also dont mine constructive criticism & 99% of the time when I comment on someone's video or content its just a suggestion and never - you need to do this way . 😎🔧👍🏁
I agree with your video 100 percent. There are too many "experts" out there and the majority of them quickly piss their money away on the newest, fanciest parts when there is absolutely nothing wrong with rebuilding or reusing "old" parts. In fact the old parts are in most cases better quality than the crap you buy now. I am sorry to hear about your friend, sounds like his situation is similar to someone who has a gambling addiction or drug addiction and they go in a downward spiral. Hopefully he gets things straightened out.
Great video, let's all keep our minds and don't live above your means. I have worked on my car for 27 years amongst other projects and never borrowed against them.
Amen🙏! I hope this friend is able to get back on track with his debt. Most of us have overextended ourselves in some way during this lifetime, I know I have. It’s a hard lesson to learn. You’re absolutely right about the credit cards and even a debit card from your bank account! Dave Ramsey talks about this…the only way to really “feel” the hit is when you’re handing cash out. The plastic takes a lot of that away and these companies know that. Thanks for doing this video Tim, if it helps just one person out there think twice before making a decision that will make their life difficult then it was well worth it. Especially in times like these.
Excellent video well said. 👍👍 I hope everyone listened because this is so true. I watched couples who were happily married get divorced because of poor spending with credit card drama. I build stuff with my hands and not with my wallet..Forums are too much sometimes, lots of keyboard mechanics.. thanks for reading this. Have a wonderful day.
I hear ya. I was shocked at the price of intake manifolds over the last several years. I never bought a new one. I always went to swap meets or the classifieds. I bought a low block 'B' manifold, an Offenhauser, a few decades ago for $25 from a 'penny saver' rag. The last one for my 383 I bought at Carlisle was $80 for a Edelbrock DP4B (with the old Chry PN) about 23 years ago. I usually sell or trade extra parts that I acquire from old projects or leftover projects to 'stay even' or neutral. You're right about the forums and machine shops. If they aren't cuttin' metal, they aren't makin' money. In 1986 I took a 'virgin' 440 block with a couple thousand miles and the shop did every conceivable machining operation to that block to the tune of $1086.00. I was 23 and in the military. I trusted them.
Thank you for making this video this is much needed. The main word that you said is Hobby. At the end of the day it is just that. In this day and age you will never be finished completing a car or project something will be better to add to it. An old racer told me these words Stay in your Lane. I love my cars and my hobby but I would never go into dept buying anything that they need or to make them faster or look better. Most of the guy's I know and friends have sold there cars and the look on there faces says it all. They spent all the money trying to make them faster or like my son kept selling what he had to get better. It is hard to tell a person something when they look at you and know you never spent the amount they have in a short time. But I still have all my cars and drive them every nice day.
Goodwill and FB Marketplace are great. I've really filled out my golfing equipment, camping equipment, biking equipment, and tools. Other people will sell their toys for pennies on the dollar when something else comes along. I'm no different, other than my entry and exit costs for the hobbies are dramatically lower. Great Video.
Correct 👍🏻🇦🇺man iv given so many good 🇦🇺MOPAR parts away years ago or had to move and some good bits to the tip 😵💫😰. But now I hang on to every thing . Especially the way this 🌏is going .iv done just some small modes to MOPAR V8s and put many brand x to shame.
Glad to hear someone else only wanting to spend money that you actually have. That's why it takes me forever to get a project done but I don't owe anything.
@318willrun man, this was such a great video! I’m glad you made it and said what we think and talk about so frequently! Priorities and doing what you can afford without putting it over the important life things like family, home, work is vital to have the right balance. It won’t bring true happiness by trying to please someone else. Thanks for making great and honest content!
Approaching year four on my Nova restoration and I’m about 65% done. I have done every spec of work myself. And saved tons of money. And I have about $6k into the entire thing. I was doing UA-cam, but people don’t like seeing people do things differently than they do.
I knew a body shop painter that dumps hundreds of thousands into building a car to race street outlaws and its almost impossible bc by the time he has what they have they have already moved on to the next best motor or setup.
💯 % truth !!! Alot of pressure on everyone to be the best or accepted by all the street outlaw types where most think they are the big chief or the jj the boss of their particular region
I felt guilt from people about my car not being nice enough. So I stopped and started planning and did some evaluating. Luckily paint and body work was more than the worth of the car so I planned on suspension and brake upgrades first. With funds limited then life and family happened lol. I kept the car. Planning on making it just a driver again. Someday it will get some abuse again lol. Money will continue to be an issue but I haven’t sold it yet and won’t. I still have a plan/dream. 😊
Tim, this is excellent advice for everyone. The situation you describe is unfortunate, but not unrecoverable. Sometimes a person must step back to enable them to go forward again. Sell the project. Recover and start again at a later date. Just my 2 cents. (my background: I have no UA-cam project car videos because I work SLOW & on an extremely limited budget, AND I have done what I just recommended)
Wow thats a real and sincere video , comes from the heart , i totaly understand what youre saying and approved it at 100% ,i did have loans in the past for my hobby but im getting older and wiser , this hobby was like a drug for me and i needed to impress people for their approval , even my own dad...( true story ) but now im very happy with what i have , a simple 76 360 duster and a ratty 68 fury 3 , its paid for , they are not hemi cars or high end muscle cars , but i enjoy them , leave them in the rain and drive them like i stole them , the saddest thing nowadays is that even if you save a bit...people who sell these parts are not helping...unfortunately, you have to be quick and have the cash in hand to buy a cheap part and make a good deal , the fact that people are not sticking together in thos hobby , especialy mopar people...is killing it . Again 2 thumbs up for the video , youre a great man ! Keep up the good work
It can be very expensive if you don’t watch how you spend your money depending on who you go through his advice is to spend it wisely and just have fun with your ride
One of the main reasons i buy cheep "not cool" vehicles, you can build nice motors that bolt in same as the pricey cool ones for 1/4 of the cost, only time i use credit is if something is in stock that is hard to get and don't have all the money at the moment, but try to quickly pay it off. then at least its helping your credit score out in the process.
Love your practical approach to things. I’ve been called stupid in a Facebook group because I expressed a different opinion than his about a exhaust problem.🤷♂️.
There's nothing wrong using the credit card. In some cases it may be beneficial to use credit card. But you have to be responsible and able to really afford it. If you use it, you must be able to pay the bill in full next month. Be smart and responsible with it, it is a loaded gun. Yes, i have bought car parts with credit card, and my typical monthly credit card bill is exactly zero euros Remember "if you can't afford to wreck it, you can't afford to race it". Works with all the toys. Remember, nobody, and I repeat, nobody really cares. So who you try to impress?
Yeah, I kinda messed up on the debt free thing with my small block. Summit... Jegs... I bought my Promaxx CNC 185 heads with the card. Yes I paid it off before the interest came due, but I still did use it. I still haven't bought my Weiand 1995 Tunnel Ram yet... YET. They show you how easy it is to do this... Like the 302 heads mod? ;) I DID do that, and they came out NICELY! Thank you.
I just upgraded my cam and I didn’t upgrade the valve springs, I don’t care if I blow my motor up you forum people can just blow steam out your ears while I’m doing burnouts in the Canadian tire parking lot ✌️
it wont blow up if you keep it out of valve float. simple as that. you wont get the rpm potential that stiffer springs would give, but it wont blow up.
One of the best videos I have ever watched! Its truth... It took me 3 years to get my motor together. One piece at a time! I watch some of those channels like what you are talking about and i just shake my head...

Thanks, and I mean that!
Exactly. I love the old school budget drag racing days. You dont need a 100,000 dollar 1500 horse car to have fun.
Absolutely the truth!
Right on Tim. I am a frugal person by nature. It has taken a lot of restraint to not put a stroker kit and trick flow heads on the card. Going fast is fun but living comfortably is fun too.
It's like a candy store these days... opportunity, but at a cost! Thanks!
Mopar A Bodies Forever...
Spend smart...
I have been a subscriber for years now. This is the best video yet! I am the same as you. If I don't have the money for the part, I wait and save it up. I have never bought a new car. I fix up older cars, and they run great. Don't go into debt to keep up with the Jones's. Go into debt only when you absolutely have to. Thanks for saying the truth. It can help a lot of people out there.
Awesome! Glad you been with us a while! Thank you!

Absolutely, thanks!
Absolutely awesome when the hobby and family ride becomes one!!
People need this reality. I was on Dr. Diff and almost charged S60 looked at price in cart pulled card out. Figured i would sleep on it and in the moring looked at bank savings and ordering new axles for $300 and not $3,000.
I like Dr. Diff! Yep, sleep on it and make sure its the right thing to do!
Thanks my friend!!!
Thanks Tim.
Sorry to hear your friend is in trouble.
I have seen this scenario play out in just about everything.
Not just hobbies.
Buying to expensive of a house or a car or truck, etc.
I hope things will be better for your friend soon.
Thanks Ed! Yes, debt can sink a life quickly.
I believe in "BUY ONCE CRY ONCE" but I always pay cash on the barrel head for it. I REFUSE to go into debt. If I can't pay cash for it i need to save more money.
You are doing it right! I believe in quality parts, as you've stated, and pay for them as you've stated! Thanks!
True, a priority list and knowing where the hobby fits is all important! Thanks!
@@richardmoerke9329 hold to the hope, it can become a reality!
My Grandpa told me back in the early '70s, if you can't reach in your hip pocket to buy something you want, then you don't Need that. And if you Want it for Real, you can work harder and Save until you can Buy It.
You had a smart Grandpa!
"...we don't have a printing press like the feds...." well said!
The ‘ machine shop ‘ comment is brilliant ( and mostly true)
I have built fantastic engines in sand pits ( figuratively speaking) with excellent results
Thank you !
Great video. The way I see it, I have more fun with the cheaper, more available stock iron heads than aluminum heads, for example, because of less stress when something goes wrong. I don't need to be faster but I do need to stay within my budget. Thank you, keep having fun.
Right on
Great advice. Hope your buddy gets though his ruff patch.
Thank you!
And he's probably right .... IF you can easily afford it. Don't let even a friend plunge ya into debt! Thanks!
Yes, many times the cars never get finished. One reason why I have to have mine running /driving as I do things to them. That's just me. Thanks!
I call those rolling projects. Fix or modify small things on the regular. Eventually you have the kind of car you desire.
I remember a quote from Dave Ramsey. Want to stay broke? Than do what broke people do. You want to live comfortably? Than learn from and do what folks do that have money and little to 0 debt. It's actually easy. It's all about discipline
Truth
Awesome vision on a project ^^^^
Priceless for sure. Thanks for sharing.
You have to live within your means and don't worry about what the other guy has
Absolutely!
You are absolutely right! Thank you for this video
Thanks for watching!
I love your pinto! that car is awesome! Thanks!
@@79beans347 You are a "318willrun" ... your humor, your project, we are glad you are with us!
Truth ^^
If I can't afford it,,,
Right now, "cash in hand" i can't have it..
Yeah its not for everyone, sometimes a drag,, but it's honest,,
My daily driver 68 Dart Grandma special Slant6 to V8 swap, Driver level restored, enjoyed everyday, rewarded everytime she starts, runs under my Work and effort... 318/A904, stock 7
1/4 rear, Cast Heads and intake manifold with rebuilt by me Carter BBD,, Spirited runs to work at 85mph , rolls to 110mph ... Laughing all the way....
Weird how peer pressure still affects some folks..
Great Video Brother and message, God bless...
It's amazing how many never get out from under the thumb of peer pressure. Thanks, and God bless you as well!
that great advice!!! love watching your channel!!!
I appreciate it!!!
I appreciate that
Tim; sounds like he completely lost track of what the sport/hobby is about having fun. I hope and pray this man finds his way out. Great Job on what had to be tough duty to put out there.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes, it is easy to get engulfed in todays world of "it all comes easy"
@@318willrun I agree with you, I'm having a blast with my Dodge W-150 but I'm now attempting to get 14-15mpg out of it.
I often wonder how some of these people can afford all their stuff. I agree with you. We set money aside for my car, and I have given it up often to take care of home/vehicle necessities. Great points and video Tim.
Thanks! You know, they say the average American home is only a couple weeks away from losing everything if they lose their job.
Excellent video well said and Thank you
Much appreciated
Man Tim I was bringing home the only pay check when me and my wife raised our three kids and i was so broke i had to ise credit to buy diapers. It took me decades to finally become 100% debt free and i encourage everyone to get debt free as soon as you can. Its a far better way to live and once you turn that corner you can start saving a paying cash for things you need or want. Good advice Tim👊
Absolutely correct, debt free! Having to go in debt to buy needs for the kids vs a set of headers .... big difference.
Great message. My personal experience is, I don't care what other people think. I will build my car the way want and more importantly what I can afford.
Absolutely !!!!! !!!
outstanding video sir. social media (fb, youtube, etc) and our own enthusiasm along with the other things mentioned can really come back to haunt us. it can happen to the best of us and a reality check like this is a rare thing these days.
You are right, it's so easy to get sucked in. Thanks!
Thank You. I fell in to that trap many years ago.
Many have, thank you!
Great video thank you
Very welcome
Great Advice! Debt takes All of the Fun out of it! Awesome Video!
Yes, debt removes the fun! Thanks!
I agree, it's not good to be in debt over a hobby, I've always saved and traded.👍
Yep, nothing wrong with swapping and trading or paying with cash!
Your best video ever! Many thanks for making it - maybe THE best video on wrenching as a hobby, and as you point out - hobbies in general.
Thank you
Outstanding advice!!!
Thank you!
This is a great message, especially now!!
Yes, so much instability with the dollar !! Thanks!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Best video on UA-cam ever !
Thanks!
Nice. With your tips and Joes breakdown there is solid advice.
Jackpine! Thanks!
Well said. Over done, over built, over powered. That all can get you in trouble.
Especially if it's not paid for..... Thanks TMM !
I always try to make it pay for itself by buying and selling other parts to buy what I need.
Good strategy!
Keep being you! Thanks!
Yep, old parts work! Thanks!
Great video, let's all keep our minds and don't live above your means. I have worked on my car for 27 years amongst other projects and never borrowed against them.
Thank You!
Thanks! Yes, if it helps just one it's worth it!
That’s why it’s been 3 years and I’m still not quite finished. I buy parts when I have extra money
That's the way!
Well said, and thank you!
I 100% agree with you!
Thanks!
You are the common sense friend that everyone needs.
Thanks, and I think many here are also great examples of common sense! Thanks again!
Thank you !!!!
I agree!
Nothing wrong with that!~
Glad to hear someone else only wanting to spend money that you actually have. That's why it takes me forever to get a project done but I don't owe anything.
Thanks! Keep up the good work down there!
Thanks, you and your family are wonderful!
No better feeling in the world than having way less money than something that works just as good
Yep !!!
That can happen for sure....
💯 % truth !!! Alot of pressure on everyone to be the best or accepted by all the street outlaw types where most think they are the big chief or the jj the boss of their particular region
True !
He is correct; my husband states this all the time.
Words of wisdom! it's so easy to give a card and spend thousands in the blink of an eye. I like you tend to stay on the cheap with my projects.
You have cool projects too! Yes, it's all so easy to spend these days!
Hold on to the plan! Never know when we get a break in life!
Tim i have to finance oil changes Lol, i have junkyard engines and run great and you are right you should not go into debt for a hobby How is that fun
If inflation gets much worse, we'll all be borrowing for a filter !!!!

@@318willrun Thanks
Tim, this is excellent advice for everyone. The situation you describe is unfortunate, but not unrecoverable. Sometimes a person must step back to enable them to go forward again. Sell the project. Recover and start again at a later date. Just my 2 cents. (my background: I have no UA-cam project car videos because I work SLOW & on an extremely limited budget, AND I have done what I just recommended)
But I can tell you are enjoying your projects, and that is the purpose of the hobby. Thanks!!!
Way to easyto charge it...then not pay it off
Yep!
Yep that happens to quite a few people, peer pressure sucks I will stick with my slow fleet of vans. They are 10000% paid for and all mine.

Keep up the good work
Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying the hobby as it's meant to be enjoyed!

Cheap cars are cool !!!

Yes, i have bought car parts with credit card, and my typical monthly credit card bill is exactly zero euros
Remember "if you can't afford to wreck it, you can't afford to race it". Works with all the toys.
Remember, nobody, and I repeat, nobody really cares. So who you try to impress?
Yep, be smart and responsible as you stated! Thanks!
This applies to everything.
Right on!
Thank you.
Thanks for your testimony! Glad you could pay it off before interest came, because that just raises the cost of parts.
I just upgraded my cam and I didn’t upgrade the valve springs, I don’t care if I blow my motor up you forum people can just blow steam out your ears while I’m doing burnouts in the Canadian tire parking lot ✌️
It's all about the fun!
it wont blow up if you keep it out of valve float. simple as that. you wont get the rpm potential that stiffer springs would give, but it wont blow up.
