Good job guys.
It’s a wonder plant 🌵 the pads are delicious to eat. Nopalitos in tacos or mixed with lime and chile 😋
Not easy to prepare, you need good gloves 🧤 and a good knife 🔪
If cactus oil is one of the expensive oil, how about the cost of soap made of such oil is it affordable? what are the other uses of cactus oil? are they edible?
Wow didnt know you can make prickly pear wine. They could despike the nopale the leaf then use as feed.
I wonder if the oxalic acid in the Opuntia species would cause problems with livestock health?
Did some limited research. Maybe not a problem with intermittent use. Biggest obstacle to wider use is difficulty of removing spines, what methods are they using in your area to remove spines?
We just scrap with a knife. The leaf of the prickly pear cactus is used in Mexican cuisine. The spikes are scrapped off with a sharp knife then the leaf is julienned. It can be eaten raw or cooked it tastes like green beans. Like green beans the nopales also balances blood sugar when humans consume it.
@@transforwell Thank you for the reply. How likely would it be to exhaust your supply? Are there better forages that would grow in its place if you could reduce prickly pear in your environment?
