Take Levrone, after years off the scene, he told himself that he could get " back into shape " and go up against Phil for the Mr O title. We all know how that turned out. As Dennis James once said " the legs are the first to go, and they never come back" & in both Kevin & Flex's return, their legs were subpar. Sure flex is taller than Phil, but both Flex & Kevin fell to Shawn Ray at the Mr O when Ray took 2nd to Yates. There is no scenario l see where Shawn Ray beats Phil, so why does Flex think he can when Ray handed both these guys their lunches?

Phil in 2011 was I think 240 to 250. Flex in 1999 was in the 240's I think but Flex was not as conditioned as Phil, at least from the back. I love Flex's physique but a prime Heath was like a combination of Shawn Ray, Kevin Levrone, and Flex Wheeler. He has the total body conditioning of Shawn Ray along with his completeness. He has the Size of Kevin Levrone (being the 250's) along with the world-class shoulders and Triceps. The crazy muscle bellies of Flex Wheeler, the deep quad and arm seperation. His back insertions are similar to Flex but with the consistent conditioning of Shawn.

The side tricep would be more competitive but although Phil has a better tricep (although not by much) - as flex had an unbelievable tricep also, flex’s overall presentation along with that killer tricep would take the pose. Flex would take the most muscular too although it would be a competitive shot
Lol the bias is heavy. Yet I understand where Flex is coming from cause at the end of the day he's a fierce competitor and he's not going to tell himself that Phil could beat him. Objectively though, I think most of us can agree that Phil would win. He's bigger virtually everywhere, with better conditioning. Especially in the glute/ham area where he completely blows Flex out of the water. And we know how much the judges love that combo of mass and conditioning. Admittedly, Flex beats Phil in structure/shape, he's wider, and his midsection is superior to Phil's especially after 2014. Apart from that, I really don't see how anyone could objectively have Flex winning. Also something to factor in is that Flex heavily used synthol and site enhancement in the latter part of his career, and I haven't seen any signs of that personally on Phil. We are talking about different eras. The training science, drugs, etc. have definitely gotten exponentially better now. If they were both competing in the same era, who knows? But they are both great competitors and if they were both on stage together, the true winners will be the sport of bodybuilding and the fans!

I’m by no means a Phil Heath fan boy but a lot of people want to take shots at him but there were certain years in the Olympia that a Wheeler could have beaten Heath and there were certain years for example 2011/2013 that I don’t believe Flex would have beaten him. When Phil kept his athletic frame he was tough to beat with best of 7 poses. That’s just me but every Olympia winner that has won in multiple years has had shows where he was off and made him very vulnerable. Even King Ronnie you could contend that there were a few years where his conditioning was off and they “possibly” could have gone the other way. But the champs get the favored eye and benefit of the doubt. It just all depends on which version your looking at.

Flex looked more like a Greek god than a human being. I love the respect Kevin throws his way. Its deserved. Flex is and will always be the most gifted bodybuilder in history. What amazes me is he never won the Mr O. It is almost impossible to comprehend. He had 2 pretty big road blocks in his way...Dorian and Ronnie. Ronnie brought great genetics and size that Flex could not overcome. Although I prefer the look of Flex, Ronnie had a 'Flex' type look with another 60-80 lbs so its hard to beat that. Dorian was good...not my favorite by any stretch but he typically brought size and granite like conditioning to the stage that was hard to top. With that being said he should not have won his 5th and 6th Mr O. With the injuries it just did not make sense and made the show look political vs choosing the best. As to who would win if these guys were in top shape in their peak years????? Shit thats a tough one. Phil wins from the waist down when you look at them from the back. Phils hams and calves were much better and world class. Arms go to Flex although Phil has great arms (and HUGE). Chest is all Flex. Shoulders are pretty equal but Flex is a bit wider naturally so he might get the edge. The back is a tossup in my opinion although Flex had a bit better back conditioning in most pics you see. It may come down to the abs and although Phil has struggled, that is due to an injury and we are talking pre-injury abs. I give Flex the node in the abs regardless. In short it would have likely come down to conditioning and who brought it to the stage. Both are genetic freaks. It would have been a hell of a showdown for sure.
Flex carries an aesthetic look with mass an balance, whilst being taller, phil is all over conditioned an balanced but not as aesthetic, its a close call but i think phil would have been the guy to beat dorian yates instead of flex or shawn. Cos phil makes up more ground
Flex all day long, as he said he is just bigger and taller, i have seen kevin look very simular to heath in the 90's the golden era, but the huge genetic freak mass monsters like dorian yates and would still win. They both look great but the bigger guy always wins, as to why shawn ray never beat the shadow too, even though you could argue that shawn ray aesthetically looked way better. Now the guys are a little fuller in the muscle bellies, but they are not as conditioned as the 90's guy or as grainy which only comes from super dense muscle and very low body fat. Now they get on stage very full with big guts and body full of water. I think what i said is very fair.

Front double biceps, lats spread, side triceps, abs and thighs these 4 poses definitely goes to flex wheeler. Flex can't beat Phil in back poses and side chest. But I'm not sure about back double biceps. Cause both were too good. But Phil's hamstring and glutes are unmatchable. I personally love both of them. I respect them. But flex was also right. Flex was bigger than him. Flex's weakness was only back lats spread. Without this pose I think he's unbeatable. Only Ronnie can defeat him and he did.

We are talking about different eras. The training science, drugs, etc. have definitely gotten exponentially better now. If they were both competing in the same era, who knows? But they are both great competitors and if they were both on stage together, the true winners will be the sport of bodybuilding and the fans!
In my opinion Phill has the best proportions of all time ever!For me he is even better than Ronnie even though Ronnie is bit bigger than him Phill's body is much more symmetrical.
Prime flex is the most complete body of all time. If he was in this era for sure he could focus more on his hams with these new machines and everything.

I’m by no means a Phil Heath fan boy but a lot of people want to take shots at him but there were certain years in the Olympia that a Wheeler could have beaten Heath and there were certain years for example 2011/2013 that I don’t believe Flex would have beaten him. When Phil kept his athletic frame he was tough to beat with best of 7 poses. That’s just me but every Olympia winner that has won in multiple years has had shows where he was off and made him very vulnerable. Even King Ronnie you could contend that there were a few years where his conditioning was off and they “possibly” could have gone the other way. But the champs get the favored eye and benefit of the doubt. It just all depends on which version your looking at.

Flex looked more like a Greek god than a human being. I love the respect Kevin throws his way. Its deserved. Flex is and will always be the most gifted bodybuilder in history. What amazes me is he never won the Mr O. It is almost impossible to comprehend. He had 2 pretty big road blocks in his way...Dorian and Ronnie. Ronnie brought great genetics and size that Flex could not overcome. Although I prefer the look of Flex, Ronnie had a 'Flex' type look with another 60-80 lbs so its hard to beat that. Dorian was good...not my favorite by any stretch but he typically brought size and granite like conditioning to the stage that was hard to top. With that being said he should not have won his 5th and 6th Mr O. With the injuries it just did not make sense and made the show look political vs choosing the best. As to who would win if these guys were in top shape in their peak years????? Shit thats a tough one. Phil wins from the waist down when you look at them from the back. Phils hams and calves were much better and world class. Arms go to Flex although Phil has great arms (and HUGE). Chest is all Flex. Shoulders are pretty equal but Flex is a bit wider naturally so he might get the edge. The back is a tossup in my opinion although Flex had a bit better back conditioning in most pics you see. It may come down to the abs and although Phil has struggled, that is due to an injury and we are talking pre-injury abs. I give Flex the node in the abs regardless. In short it would have likely come down to conditioning and who brought it to the stage. Both are genetic freaks. It would have been a hell of a showdown for sure.
Flex carries an aesthetic look with mass an balance, whilst being taller, phil is all over conditioned an balanced but not as aesthetic, its a close call but i think phil would have been the guy to beat dorian yates instead of flex or shawn. Cos phil makes up more ground

Flex all day long, as he said he is just bigger and taller, i have seen kevin look very simular to heath in the 90's the golden era, but the huge genetic freak mass monsters like dorian yates and would still win. They both look great but the bigger guy always wins, as to why shawn ray never beat the shadow too, even though you could argue that shawn ray aesthetically looked way better. Now the guys are a little fuller in the muscle bellies, but they are not as conditioned as the 90's guy or as grainy which only comes from super dense muscle and very low body fat. Now they get on stage very full with big guts and body full of water. I think what i said is very fair.

You have to admit though, Phil is not only "mass", dude (especially in his ealier years) had some great flow. Tight midsection without a doubt. Amazing conditioning and detail too, he could hang with the best in that category.

Front double biceps, lats spread, side triceps, abs and thighs these 4 poses definitely goes to flex wheeler. Flex can't beat Phil in back poses and side chest. But I'm not sure about back double biceps. Cause both were too good. But Phil's hamstring and glutes are unmatchable. I personally love both of them. I respect them. But flex was also right. Flex was bigger than him. Flex's weakness was only back lats spread. Without this pose I think he's unbeatable. Only Ronnie can defeat him and he did.
