Hi there buddy I just discovered your channel yesterday and I’m in shock of all the arrow heads you find !!! Me and my son do a lot of fossil hunting in the creeks where we are from and we have a giant collection of fossils and rocks and stones but we have never ever found any arrow heads !!! Maybe one day we will and I’ll keep watching you buddy !!!
@@Theditchwalker I went ten times and never found a thing, told my friend why are we out here. Went to the top of the hill and picked up a perfect one inch point, I've been hooked every since. Got the eye now. Great videos. Foot of snow on the ground right now. 😪
Nice finds especially the Kirk I think that 2cd point you found after the wade may be a whitespring I have a few that I have bought from Alabama nice banner (broken) I have a ton of those .Nice to see you back ditch walker keep them coming
Y’all are great love the videos it’s one of my favorite things to do lookin for different rocks at creeks im going to start lookin for some arrow heads now for sure! Thanks for the inspiration and the accents that match my families lol
Glad to see you back out. It's been a good while. You haven't lost your instinct. Great find on that Kirk. That was a nice Pinetree as well. Look forward to your next hunt. Thanks for sharing. P.H.
Man you know a heck of a lot more about point types than I do but that second point sure looked San Patrice-ish to me. That broken banner is still an awesome find and OMG that KIRK corner notch is fine as all get out! Great video!
Thanks Spike...that was a thought also......I think it is an early archaic piece rather than a Benton....We don't find many san Patrice points here..it's kinda outta range.,but not Un heard of.....Thanks for looking and commenting
Great grannies ghost!!! I teared up when I saw the broken banner stone!!!! And the KCN is so big and beautiful!!! But brother this is just my opinion, the second point looks more like a san patrice or maybe greenbrier to me! Like I said just my opinion but looks a little older to me!! Stunning point either way!! Fantastic finds all around as usual!! Glad your back buddy and we’re ready for more!! Bol and HH!!
Thanks.....yes.,I think it is earlier than Benton...maybe white springs....San P's are not very common to this area.,not unheard of though...thanks for your input..I appreciate it........Glad to be back and the best of luck to you all
Awesome love the vid! That banner stone is a heart breaker for sure but still an amazing find ! Killer points love them colors yall got down there don't find much color here n Virginia! Keep em coming brother GL N HH
Thanks Mike......you got that rite.,I have been on the banner trail lately...got a broken greenstone banner coming in one of my next vids...they are hard to find....Thanks again and Goodluck to you my friend
My friend I found my first point in 1975 a 4 inch Dalton and have never stopped looking every chance I have , I really enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
Awesome vids as always bud..! If you find your way in Florence Alabama I can get take you to a few good spots . I know we're not far away from each other..we'd have a good day
Man it crazy your back on the tube, I was talking with a buddy the other day about a lot of tubers just up and gone and was saying you were one of the ones I wish was still around! Ask and you shall receive!! Can’t wait for the next vid!!
These videos are awesome. I appreciate your knowledge of the different projectiles and tools. I wish you could break down the heads by philosophy of use and era used type thing. I would really like to see a collection and you explaining the different tools. Thanks
Damn. I used to find an arrow head almost every time that I went deer hunting but we lost that lease years ago. I think that it was a village on that plateau above that creek.
Enjoy your videos! Thank you, When we watch youtube videos,of people hunting indian artifacts, how can we tell if they are legit finds or if they go out and put them there.then video themselves finding them. Seeding the location?
Thanks I appreciate it....That can be tough...I think all the better artifact hunting channels are legit...although I do happen to know a guy on youtube that placed a large Benton in a creek that my buddy had found and sold and "found" it on film....so....it's hard to say.....the better artifact hunting channels are legit though..I do know that
Did that big Kirk have heavy grinding? If not the flaking looks kinda later not early could be a hopewell type point but I dunno hard to see the flaking wet at that angle. But some killer stuff. Thanks man good luck out there.
Are they artifacts you can find in your woods outside or are there only certain areas that have these? I’m from upstate ny/Vermont. Your channel is really interesting good luck and keep finding!
They are virtually everywhere...even in your neck of the woods....and the best place to locate them nowadays are streams.....I appreciate it Jake....find four or five streams and persistently walk them....you will find artifacts...they erode from the banks
Theditchwalker Joe Ellis is my channel I've found 9 Daltons this year a lost lake a Hardin all kinda stuff. I've done got it about figure out the big Creeks have to much material rock/sand etc. man I've been killing it. nobody hunts Creek here.
By flaking patterns and type...the bow and arrow was not in use in North America until the woodland period...usually.,with just a few exceptions.,arrowpoints are triangular in the southeast. Other types occur in the midwest.,such as notched triangular Cahokia points and other very small arrowpoint types...they are usually thin and well made. Atlatl points were obviously made in the archaic periods...and are small.,but manufactured using archaic method flint knapping techniques....Atlatl points also tend to be made much more sturdy.
Thanks for the reply have you ever thought about paying out some of your collection and going threw them describing them saying what they where used for? I know to a certain extent you do this in the field but maybe if the items where side by side you would get a better idea of size differences, shape diffences, materials used? Forgive my ignorance if you already have a video like that.
Beautiful finds. Is the red stuff Horse Creek chert? I’m in the heart of Flint Ridge country but that flint rivals all our FR for beautiful color. Thanks for posting your hunt. Good hunting and keep the wind at your back and your powder dry.
Pretty much....you have to get closer to the Tennessee valley divide for paleo pieces to pick up in frequency....there are a few here...I've seen a few good Clovis and Cumberland points from the area. Quads and beaver lakes are a little more common...Luck is not in my corner when it comes to Paleo haha....I've found a couple ...,but top Early archaic pieces is what I'm after...the pales are a bonus
Thank you for the great videos and content by the way, I am an amateur collector on the Arkansas River in Wichita Kansas. Though collecting comes second to fishing which is what gets me on the river lol. You have some amazing finds and it's great too that you share. I have found two gold rings...one was a 1950's Masonic ring
@@Theditchwalker lol. What i was meaning to say was, have you ever found any native American jewerly ?
I have found 18 trade beads and one jasper bead in my life

You have to be careful of the half cross basin with those. It will get you every time. Stick with the left Charlie’s. Works

Two in one week have I died and gone to heaven?
Drake Shierling I know rite😂

explain what a banner is ?
A bannerstone is a counterweight used on the atlatl throwing device before the invention of the bow and arrow
@@Theditchwalker do you show a complete one on one of your vids?

Can anyone estimate roughly how many years the indigenous people were using Flint arrowheads for.
Around 14,000 + years
