      I think Nissan got it right from factory. In videos under the car people say it looks so good and the condition is awesome. That's because I don't rub on anything while everyone else is destroying their exhaust and tires.

    You know what I find interesting. No one has made any comments that I made fun of the RX-8 in the beginning. Hmmmm any takers?

    • @jjszx6r
      @jjszx6r 7 років тому +3

      lol if I'm not mistaken, I've heard a few rx8 jokes on your videos! I'm a former rx8 owner turned 350z owner...definitely made me chuckle, but i do often miss my 8. There's just something about it being unique and the sound and smoothness of the rotary. Overall I like my z better, but i do feel like the 8 handled a bit better...could have been that I had better tires on it than the cheap ones that came on my z tho. Once I run the tread down some more I'll be upgrading them and have a more fair comparison. BTW your videos are awesome. Thanks for all the insight and keep it up!

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому +2

      Jeremy Schank Haha thanks! Try using Redline transmission fluid (Nissan spec) in the transmission. Shifts smoother.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому +2

      Also, I think the RX-8 would be more nimble since it's a little lighter and the engine is very compact and setup a little better in terms of weight distribution. But hands down the 350Z is a better car overall in almost every aspect. Look how many are still on the road, and a lot of them get beat on.

    The rubber bushings on these cars are terrible also. And Nissan won't replace the bushings they'll make you buy the actual part [i.e. upper/lower control arm, etc]. And a used Z may also have issues with a worn or blown out subframe bushing. Nissan will charge you $1400+ to buy an entirely new subframe, but aftermarket is the way to go [poly, or aluminum]. After mine went out I ordered aluminum ones from SIKKY and the car gained alot more stability.

    My 2004 Engine has ZERO oil consumption. Don't buy the 2006 RevUp version. It's the least reliable engine of all the 350z engines. I check my oil once a year. Because i know the car is good. I trust it.
    Also, i had three things with my car go wrong. My window motor stopped working (10 dollar fix) and my Subwoofer stopped working and my CD player stopped working correctly. My engine and everything else? Never had any issue any at all. Nice video by the way.
    Overal the 350z is a very reliable car. It's just a good car! I know these kind of cars you will see on the road with high mileage.

    Thanks so much for posting this. I'm looking at buying an '05 Anniversary edition with 38,000 miles, bone stock. Looks to be in pristine condition. This makes me aware of some of the idiocyncracies and trouble spots on the 350Z, a car I'm not overly familiar with...but hope to be very soon!

    Best 350z's are the 2006-2008, those model years had the newer refreshend exterior/interior and the new updated engine that makes more power, most noticeable on the exterior are the new LED taillights that look amazing and add a tad of luxury and/or at the very least it makes the rear end look very modern...even in the year 2019....

    This is my realistic dream car, the only thing that is putting me off it is the insurance rates in the UK. I need to wait a couple of years for my premium to go down, at the moment it would cost me nearly £6000 a year to insure.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому +5

      AnthonyJ350 It's crazy in the UK, it does help stop some of the idiotic drivers. I am looking for a new car, but I don't think I will be getting this anytime soon. After I get a few more NCB Years it will drop a lot. I am nearly finishing my first year of driving, my Mini Cooper 1.6 cost me £1200 a year with the dreaded black box.

    First off, I'd like to thank you for making a very useful and informative video--much more professional than that TJ Hunt guy.I do like to make a couple points about your comments though in reference to the engine "ticking" and sound during idle and turning off. I have an '08 model and do not experience any "tractor" sounds during idle, and ticking or needing to depress the clutch when turning off the motor so this might just be your car or maybe problems with the rev-up engine. I'm no mechanic so maybe you're right and I could just be losing my hearing because I'm old.Also, in your previous video you mentioned a "mushy" clutch pedal. Again, this is not something I have experienced in my vehicle since the day I bought it new. I have 65K on my vehicle and still on the stock clutch and it has worked/felt the same as the day I bought it back in '08. You did mention you bought your Z used so perhaps the previous owner either did not take care of their vehicle or made some modifications you were not aware of.One thing I would like to add to your list of "what to look for" would be the rear shock absorbers as they are easily worn out. I've already gone through 2 sets--on my 3rd--and even the dealer has confirmed to me that it is a known issue in the 350z's.Keep up the good work since these videos are my "go to" sites for DIY. Thanks again.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому

      I really think the clutch noise depends on the type of clutch you have (single mass dual mass). HR 350z's are definitely more refined. My car actually still has the original shocks from what I can see. Did you ever switch up to a brand like Bilstein?

    I'll like to add a few comments for future owners since I had a 2004 touring roadster and now I have a 2007 touring roadster.
    2004: window motors sucked donkey balls. thermostat stuck close at 65k miles and I had to remove it on the side of the road and rip apart the thermostat core from the housing or i'll be stranded on side of road or pay tow truck. no way jose. the most annoying was the immobilizer went out. this is NOT a user serviceable item because you also have to program ECU chips and keys with nissan equipment. they charged me $480
    2007: stupid ass clutch slave cylinder blew out 3 times because I had stage 3 clutch. changed to stage 2 and next one blew twice. luckily I do the work. now I'm oem clutch and lightweight flywheel. these cylinders are apparently engineered to only handle oem pressure plate loads.
    the convertible top sucks camel balls for BOTH of the above models. now I try to only open mine once a year to clean the area. I just love the 2tome look that's why I didn't get a coupe.
    OVERALL: phenomenal cars compared to other shitbuckets of same class out there. I'm sure they have their worse problems too if you check their forums. just don't get a mazda. shit engineered cars by bmw idiotic leftover engineers hired by mazda.

    excellent video by the way the most helpful video I've seen on the 350Z for general purpose issues to watch out for. one of the things on mine and I've only had it for a month but the driver side window when it auto drops down with the door handle it's sort of clunky the way the window moves and I assume that means the window motor is wearing out or bushings or something.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Make sure to check out all my other 350Z videos. It is possible the window assembly is worn out. Make sure all the bolts that hold it to the sub metal panel of the door are tight, you'll have to remove the door panel in order to do so.

    Not clutching is easy to be honest 70% of the time I don't use it unless I'm at a dead stop and I taking off or traffic and yes I learned that in truck driving school now it's second nature great video my man all good info.

    Its a 350z not 350zed. Call it a 350z or if youre feeling asian call it a z33

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 років тому +8

      Taylor McCallum I'm feeling Canadian so I'm going to say "zed".

    • @taylormccallum
      @taylormccallum 6 років тому

      AnthonyJ350 youd need to be feeling ancient greek to pronoundlce it as zed. Sorry if youre offended its a pet peeve of mine.

      Taylor McCallum But all of the Common Wealth say Zed. England for example. Tiff on 5th Gear says zed in the old reviews.

      AnthonyJ350 it is in no way shape or form labeled with a zed. Its a force of habbit for european people. It bugs me and i dont know where it started but i wish it didnt. By the books its a 350z or a z33.

    I like your wait for the sychro tip.
    People see movies of somebody making a fast shift and think you just yank it out of gear and in one smooth move slam it up or down.
    It's a dance with the clutch engagement point. Many put the clutch in, or let it out blowing past the feely point of engagement.
    There's 90 percent movement where nothing is happening and it all happens in ten.
    You should feel the beginning middle and end of that ten percent.
    Feel like you are spreading peanut butter.
    Not chopping salami.
    That doesn't mean frying the clutch, it's more like a start. Feeding power smoothly and disengaging in braking and corners without a lurch.
    Think of the clutch like a volume knob, not a light switch.
