perfect guard is still a thing, also regarding the triple attacks yes each group comp will have a unique one. also now you can swap characters mid battle, which is great since you need mallow to fill out the bestiary. also items are now stackable (though they will apparently have caps)
Yeah, Croaka Cola (previously called KerokeroCola) only stacks up to 3. What I am really curious about, though, is if you can carry more than that, but just that it starts taking up an additional slot in your inventory. I would very much like to know this, but doubt I will before launch at this point, just 9 days away now.
@@kinh0t Yeah, I was afraid of that, with stuff like boosts from Chaining timed attacks and blocking, well timed regular attacks dealing some damage to everything at once, and the new Triple Move thing. I guess the only challenge will be post-game boss rematches. I just have to go into it, knowing that.
I remember in the original, I used to replay the first area to reach level 10 before fighting the hammer bros, and get the 100 super jump challenge out of the way. That way once I hit Monstro Town, I just get the Attack Scarf and Super Suit. I’ve done this with every version. Planning to do the same in the remake xD
Is easier to do the 100 jumps on the Hammer Bros or something? It’s been ages since I’ve played this game, so if there’s something special about that fight I don’t remember it.
Oh no, it’s something I do before the Hammer Bros, so I mainly practice the Super Jump on a regular Goomba. This is what I do, and I do this 31 times to reach lvl 10. After leaving Mario’s Pad, fight everything until you reach the next area and get the floating treasure chest that refills your heath and flower points. After that go back to leave the map and start again. I do this for grinding and practice the 100 jump challenge on a goomba before fighting the hammer bros.
Only thing that bugs me about this is the UI. It's *incredibly* dull and basic. The same super minimal clean look every Nintendo game goes for today with the overused and unchanged New Rodin typeface. They could have made something waaay more fitting of a Mario RPG but they continue to use the same style every Mario Switch title (and tons of other Japanese games) default to. It's a small thing for most, but it's just been something that's bugged me for a lot of games today.
Perhaps playing Nintendo games is not your thing anymore. These kind of games are meant to be clean like this, not dark and gritty like most teen or mature rated games. Mario games are also suppose to be one dimensional and lack personality cause it's up to the player to fill that role.
I personally love simple UI. I've always abhorred games with stupid complex UIs and have always been deterred from playing basically any game with such except maybe DotA 2. This is refreshing. I don't think a game like this needs a non-minimalist UI.
@@VOAN You completely misunderstood their comment. He's comparing the user interface to the one in the original game which was more stylized. Also, Mario games lacking personality? What?
What I'm interested in finding out is how much expenditure in R&D is required for such remake on the Switch compared to developing a brand new Mario RPG game for the Switch with similar graphics seen here. Also interesting would be to find out whether longtime fans would have preferred this over a brand new Mario RPG with new story but using the same graphic engine as this game.
As a longtime fan, I think I prefer the remake as it also seems to be the definitive version of the game. The fact that you can switch out party members in the middle of a fight alone makes me super excited to be able to play this version. And if it sells well enough, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that they make a brand new direct sequel to the game.
Can't wait to test out low level runs there is also solo limits at the start where toad assists mario for his special its in the video is called first 15 minutes gameplay

they shouldve used the exact process to make the first game but make a sequel. It has a unique feel you just cant remaster. im so glad you can use the original music, that remastered form is so soulless and bland. it's more like something you'd hear on the elevator at nintendo HQ lmao
I'm a literal 3D artist and even I have to ask myself WHY would you remake perfection? That original pixel art implementation with those 2.5D isometric sprites was just SO mind-blowing and to this day stands alone as one of the most unique, innovative and iconic looks of all time! This new overhaul does literally nothing for me... other than make me want to go back and play the original.
On the contrary, uh...they are making it easier, with perfectly timed regular attacks able to do some additional damage to *ALL* the other enemies, a Chain for how many successful timed inputs you've done in a row that grants various benefits to you, and a circular gauge that, when built to 100%, allows for a power Triple Move that varies depending on which party members you are currently using. Yet, despite these additions, apparently, the stats of enemies have NOT been rebalanced accordingly, but are the same as in the original game. There's even a more braindead easy difficulty option now, called "Breezy", in case the person playing is literally an infant. I'll still love the experience of playing this, but I do really wish they went the other way and added a Hard difficulty option. At least there is some Post-game to the remake in the form of being able to have a rematch against some of the bosses, in which they are super beefed up tough to beat. Like...quite extreme. So though it isn't something that upscales the whole game to be able to be tougher in a playthrough, that at least is *something* for challenge seekers. I wonder if there is a Culex rematch...
@@aeriussygale thank you for the information. The end game stuff sounds decent at least. I believe I did hear Culex is confirmed to be in the game again.

I'll drop this here because hijacking the stream for a silly argument is pointless. When I typed out the content loop I wasn't complaining about it, I was responding to a question about what the streamer's december plans were. Knowing past pattern of gaming it's likely going to be super mario, pokemon or FF7 unless a big game is released. An answer to someone's question. Being called a loser in response to pointing out the loop prompted the "lol". Because how do you lose at something by pointing out that something is true. The response even days later makes it seem like the streamer is insecure about the content loop, "I should be more varied" or he has been so rattled by chat genuinely complaining about him that he thinks every observation is a complaint. As for real trolling, it happens but it has more to do with the game being played than the person playing it. Unless you're in 5th grade Pokemon is a strange hobby, I've had similar issues with MMOs. It rarely has anything to do with the streamer, they're usually just giving in to popular demand. If they had a choice they would probably not play games at all or at the very least play something good. But Pokemon has good soundtrack and it's comedy. The streamer taking it seriously is what makes it entertaining, acting as a straight man to the absurdity of grinding a toddler game for hundreds of hours. No complaints or passive aggressiveness here. Your streams are top tier, choice of games not so much. Try Lost Odyssey it's FF10 hard mode.
Im a grown man now just like ya'll who grew up in the 80's/90's. Im ready for my wife to throw her shoes in my face while im frozen focus playing Mario RPG launch day 😂
Or, hear me out, it's a pain in the ass to play these older games for some people because they lack the hardware or get turned away by the graphics. And also many haven't experienced the OG game yet, so it's a great way to play this masterpiece with the bonus of modern graphics and some QoL changes like the little bar on the side during battle.
Certain games had certain styles, just cause Star Ocean Second Story R, Live A Live, and Trials of Mana were all remake to certain style doesn't mean Super Mario RPG had to copy each and every style. A remake done right is a remake that could attract new audience but still had the magic of the original. Super Mario RPG had its own style and that is a remake done right.
