- There could be new technology coming to electronic shifting for mountain, road and gravel bikes. If this patent from SRAM can actually make it to market, it could literally transform shifting for a wide variety of bikes and riders. Do you think this shifting technology will actually become a reality or is it just a pipe dream that we will never see out on the trails?

Are you using electronic shifting now? Would this make you want to switch?
I am of the opinion that on the paper it’s a good thing. For all the argument you said, no cable, precision, easy mount on the bike.
But not only the usage bring you the constrain of having to think about the recharge I am in favor of the technical simplicity. A mechanical derailleur is just (!) made of springs, lever and basic mechanical components.
Here you have all those advanced ones, sensor, connectors, motor. I have a friend that hates electronic in cars, he loves what he can dismount and repair.
I do love what electronic bring for car, ABS, speed regulator, electric windows etc. But for MTB I think that basic or simple tech is a plus.
Then comes the price, should the gap be smaller it could cancel off this as an obstacle. But at today price I am not ready.
I will stick it manual shutting. Thank you. It works fine.
It’s obvious you never used electronic shifting fast accurate totally reliable
@@douglaskaye1395until the battery runs out. I mean it would/will be great when we get some sort of dinamo charging system but until then I'll use my mechanical one
Eshift rocks
E-shift with no batteries would be a game changer.
