I swear all of these black owned restaurants here in Atlanta are all the same. I have stopped going to those establishments, as sad as it sounds. We try to support each other, but when they are constantly price-gouging us for subpar food, that is the issue I have. I make extra sharp cheddar cheese grits that have Kerry Gold butter in them AND put oxtails on top. Seared oxtails that have onions garlic shallots and fennel bulb diced up and sauteed with bay leaves. Bottle of cabernet and put the oxtails back in, covered, at 275 degrees until fork tender. THIS combo is killer!

It's cheaper to use can goods, and premade meals instead of fresh ingredients, and that pretty much eliminated the need for someone with actual cooking experience. Georgia is wrong for imposing all of those taxes. Unfortunately depending on the city and county they’re in restaurants have to pay all the taxes you listed. Another reason why I will never live in GA. They are getting taxed to the nines. My cousin lived there for years but came back home to TX a few years ago. Things can be high, but tax at least in restaurants is reasonable and there’s no state or county tax.
When I went to Frost .. it was nice and the staff was nice as well as the Frost were there working, talking to customers and taking pictures.. I really had a good experience at Frost Bistro .. the food was good also

What I've learned from this is that the main selling point of the majority of celebrity restaurants is the affiliation with the celebrity and not the quality of the food. Its a gimmick to get people in the door. At least some of the food seemed to be decent and it wasn't all trash.
As a server that has served in multiple restaurants in ATL i can tell you exactly why gratuity is added. As much as we would like to think these places get a lot of service, they dont especially in the day time. So yes does it suck for the patron to get automatic gratuity yes. However getting paid 5.00/hr and barely making $50 at the end of your shift ain’t it either. As much as black folks say they tip, I can def attest to the majority DO NOT. Restaurants know this, just think when you go to restaurants that have a higher ethnic population patronizing their business most of the time gratuity is added automatically. I do agree it should be posted for visibility. If they wanted to pay us more they still wouldn’t. It’s hard to see revenue in Restaurants and the cheapest is always labor.

Georgia is wrong for imposing all of those taxes. Unfortunately depending on the city and county they’re in restaurants have to pay all the taxes you listed. Another reason why I will never live in GA. They are getting taxed to the nines. My cousin lived there for years but came back home to TX a few years ago. Things can be high, but tax at least in restaurants is reasonable and there’s no state or county tax.

When I went to Frost .. it was nice and the staff was nice as well as the Frost were there working, talking to customers and taking pictures.. I really had a good experience at Frost Bistro .. the food was good also

What I've learned from this is that the main selling point of the majority of celebrity restaurants is the affiliation with the celebrity and not the quality of the food. Its a gimmick to get people in the door. At least some of the food seemed to be decent and it wasn't all trash.

As a server that has served in multiple restaurants in ATL i can tell you exactly why gratuity is added. As much as we would like to think these places get a lot of service, they dont especially in the day time. So yes does it suck for the patron to get automatic gratuity yes. However getting paid 5.00/hr and barely making $50 at the end of your shift ain’t it either. As much as black folks say they tip, I can def attest to the majority DO NOT. Restaurants know this, just think when you go to restaurants that have a higher ethnic population patronizing their business most of the time gratuity is added automatically. I do agree it should be posted for visibility. If they wanted to pay us more they still wouldn’t. It’s hard to see revenue in Restaurants and the cheapest is always labor.
