Wanted to hear the saw as well. Does it have a blade brake?

Read on a forum that, whilst the pre-sets present no issues, the
mechanism for random angles is less secure - the commentary suggests the
the end of the machined thread of the locking mechanism is wound in so that it rests against the
face of its opposite element - rather than having any form of aperture, or other engineering method,
it is relying on friction alone.
Does anybody know if this finding is correct / an issue?
Still, this wouldn't be an issue, where any of the pre-sets were viable.

no, because rpm is 4200.. you need lower rpm to use steel cutting

I have an ancient Makita chopsaw and the one thing I absolutely HATE is the stupid lockdown pin that vibrates and locks down the saw while cutting unless I have the saw tilted in the correct direction. I can't believe that little piece of crap is what they are still using for lockdown. Unbelieveable.

just don't buy it for deck boards. 1.47. Doesn't actually cut all the way through on the 45 degree. Not the best example of timber to use

I don't know why he calls it a chop saw. I always understood that a chop saw could only cut straight ends while this particular saw is a compound mitre saw.

generally a the terms 'chop saw' and 'mitre saw' are used to distinguish whether it is sliding for not. 'cut-off saw' is used for square cutting only

As I understand it a chop saw cuts 90% angles mainly for steel etc and a mitre saw cuts mitre and other angled cuts.
