I managed to do this without taking the wheel off in my 2012 Picanto. I went through the bonnet, and reaching around the washer container (I had to unplug some wires for more wiggle room). It was possible. It was very fiddly, and a lot done by feel rather than sight. But a lot less effort than taking the wheel off!
Great video, thanks. Informative and enabled me to fix my nonfunctional near side DRL. I turned the wheel full lock out and jacked up. Removed the grommets, which in the case of my 2018 Picanto One were push fit not screw. Was worried they’d snap but they were easy to prise out with a small screwdriver and then just snapped back in. The liner pulled away enough to get at the light without removing the wheel. Turned out the bulb was ok it was just a dodgy connection. Just used the small screwdriver to bend out the contact a little more and presto. The scariest but was testing. You have to start the engine(in neutral of course) but then release the handbrake to illuminate the DRLs. I chocked the 3 wheels still on the ground.👍
If you don't have a jack or don't want to remove your wheel you can remove the bumper to access the lights which is easier in my opinion. There's a screw in each wheel arch and then four push fit fixings under the bonnet. You'll then need to unclip the bumper from the wheel arch, remember to put something soft down on the ground so you can lay it down without scratching it. There's also a video on UA-cam if that helps!
Thank you so much for this, I’ve managed to get the plastic off with my wheel still on and turned inwards. Couldn’t find anywhere with a video like this :)
Great video. I've just replaced my DRL (without removing the wheel) thanks to your tips. Halfords wanted an extra £60 as they said it would need a full strip down. The plastic screws are a big of a bigger to get off. Make sure they're clean so your screwdriver gets a good grip, they round off in an instant.
How do they get away with designing a car that requires 2 wheels removed and all the rest to change a couple of bulbs? Lights that are bound to burn out due to continuous use
@@UTILITARIANTVUK thought that was front fog lights not daytime running lights as they are not a legal requirement in the day, just a nice to have item ?

Changed mine, didn't Jack up and take wheel off,
Turned wheel full lock, undone the fixings, pull plastic cover back enough to get my hand in,
Easy
that's a good idea..... clever ducky

remove the bumper ? you're having a joke....
@@rosiecesareo8092 epic fail
No need to take wheel off just put it on full lock. Good idea to have a spare pointed tool to take fitting out took me 3 minutes each side.

Glad it helped
what do you mean turned inwards ?
@@noteynote4873I kept my wheels steered to the left and managed to get my hands into the wheel arch so I didn’t have to take the wheel off.
Correct just undo bottom two clips and bend and twist bulb holder. No jack😮 no wheel off🎉

I should have kept that Morris Traveller...
there's been worse, but I still think this model where the DRL are fitted are really stupid.
Very helpful, thank you!
With the plastic screws did u use a flathead mine spin but don't come out
If I remember correctly, they don't unscrew as such, it's just a half turn and they should pull out?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK so just turn once and pull with hands? Thanks for replying
@@marcus8984 You might need to use a flat end screw driver for leverage. Although, be gentle, they snap easily.
Great video, thanks
Thanks for the video all the best 👍

Cor they don't make it easy do they
they are not an mot requirement
They are for cars registered from 2018.

R/H (UK Passenger side) can be done from under the bonnet on my daughters 63 plate 😀….. drivers side one needs wheel off 🙁
Really??? I Had a look, seems impossible to me.
@@Howie57 I got bulb out that side to check type 👍
Or just steer the wheel and bend the plastic ... 😂 5 min job
Don’t bother. Not needed
A little like your comment.
