Great to see you two having such a nice lunchtime in a random village pub. A lot of Americans who haven't been to the UK think that a pub is the equivalent of a bar in the US. But as you know, happening upon a welcoming British pub is a unique pleasure. And well done Rachel. Nature clearly prioritised many admirable things when you were designed, however hiking was perhaps not one of them. The way you've cheerily made it to the halfway point has been an absolute joy to watch.
I'm really enjoying watching your travail. Hehe! as a Brit it's really interesting to watch you two enjoy our country. I've seen too many Americans "do" Britain in 48 hrs.(hate that expression). There's so much more to experience past Big Ben - and you've taken the trouble to do it. What you've been experiencing makes us what we are as a nation. It's not very flashy, but we're good with it. You feel you "understand rugby"? Wow, that's blown me away - that's very cool. When you actually "get it", it's just the best game! (Oh, yeah. Oops - Happy Birthday!!) I get the thing about hills - you struggle up them, and then just bloody go down the other side, so then you've got another bloody hill to struggle up! Aagh! 0
I’m going to walk the Cotswolds way next month so that’s how I’ve stumbled across your videos, I was only going to watch one video this evening but I can’t stop swatching. I’ve really enjoyed watching you both. Im English so it’s been fascinating to hear your commentary on the English countryside, I also love how excited you got for the England rugby match. I haven’t taken a look at your full channel yet but I hope you still continue to do these adventures :)
Great uploads, so glad you've enjoyed your trip (so far!) despite the pain and extra warm weather! Happy belated birthday btw. Looking forward to seeing the remainder of your visit. Hope you can quickly build your channel you deserve to, lovely genuine couple.
Good last minute decision to go to The Carpenters Arms. Whenever I see two Americans walk into a local British pub while out hiking it always reminds me of that scene from _An American Werewolf in London_ where the two hikers walk into The Slaughtered Lamb pub. But you were quite safe in The Carpenters Arms because the locals seemed very nice and it was daytime anyway. It could be very different at night however. 🐺😱😜
These videos are so great. You really capture the beauty of Gloucestershire. All of your trip so far has been in Gloucestershire, the last bit into Bath will be in Somerset. You both did very well. Long distance walking day after day is bloody hard!
Hi! Going uphill can be hard, but when your legs get tired downhill is worse. Great to see you enjoying that special birthday in a truly memorable way.
I'm feeling your pain and enjoying the glorious views. You're doing really well and seem to be toughing it out. I'm impressed ! Painful feet are a real hindrance to distance walking. Well done ! Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire
This is close to my home. We have not walked the Cotswold Way as such. but parts of it. Back before I was thirty though, we walked the Offa's Dyke Path, on the Welsh border, 110 miles, so I sympathise with your pain. We carried camping equipment though, I carried less than my hubby, but later we found I was carrying the maximum recommended for a man!!. It was very hot when we did it and on the second day I got nery dehydrated with stomach cramps. Luckily I remembered seeing something about salt depletion and we found a pub and I drank a glass of salty water. Strangely I could hardly taste the salt. Recovered quickly and could reduce the salt each time. One more thing. My other half's friend was mountain biking in the dark in the woods near Cooper's Hill and swears he came across a big cat sitting in the track.
Just wanted to say that I've been really enjoying your Cotswold Way videos. What a great adventure. I don't know how you managed it - I could not do it. Enjoying your channel and going to keep watching.
Wonderful to see Americans get pub culture, it is nothing like bars, a pub is a second familly. Pubs are extreamly vairied so whan you find one that fits, thats home. That just me smile.
Rachel, you can see by the way you are walking that you are really suffering from blisters. It took courage to continue. And country pubs are the best.
At 16 mins, pretty much meters from where i used to live in a little lane you walked down to the Carpenters Arms. Miss it so much, especially walking the dogs throughout the seasons, i was very lucky to live in such beautiful place. Glad you enjoyed it.
Rachel, My wife and I did the first two days of the cotswold trail to Winchcomb and it was great. We are going back to Great Britain this next summer to do the whole trail. Did you guys use Mac Adventures or Hillwalking tours? It looks like the B and B's really picked up for you in terms of quality. We used Hillwalking tours and they were solid as well but are debating another service. We also did three days in the Scottish Highlands which I would highly recommend. The walk is not much harder but the views are even better. You see less people along the trail however. We went from Invermoriston to Inverness and it was also terrific.
just found you guys while looking up videos of my local area and watched your whole journey. was quite surprised to see this one as i grew up next to the carpenters arms and have lived in stroud pretty much all my life, its a very interesting town with a good amount of history to it. did you guys go into the town or just westrip? edited to add: 10:06 🤣i 100% know where this is and have some very funny memories from that exact spot
It's extremely well signposted and very easy to follow. It's almost impossible to get lost on it, and it also goes through well inhabited areas so you're never really all that far from help if you need it.

really lovely video, your visit to the pub shows what pub culture can and should be.
It’s one of our favorite memories!

YES! We’ve been to London but THIS is what I think of when I picture England. Thank you for the birthday wishes! More hills to come 😂
Another lovely day in paradise! 🙂

Wow thank you so much for watching!! We really did love it. Enjoy the finale, I sure did!!! 😂
You two are lovely and I’m enjoying your videos.May I just advise you to take off the hats whilst covered by the trees.❤❤
Thank you for watching!!! Oh I did but my hat hair was too bad for the camera!
Love Rachel's positivity through pain. A winger would be worse, bravo

A pub in that area, called The Lamb was just like that when we moved here 40 yrs ago.

You are a trooper, Rach!
Haha thank you!!
The 'marker ' you came to, is an Ordnance Survey Triangulation point. They used to be used fro map making before GPS.

Downhill is SO MUCH WORSE!

Thank you so much! It was tough but glad we made it!!!
It's lovely watching you enjoying the cotswold way. 8 know it's a tough walk but it's so worth the effort
Really enjoyed watching your adventure through the Cotswolds! Wishing you both the best, so nice finding channels like this. Happy birthday btw!
Thank you for watching!!
Have been waiting for this vid to land.
Been waiting for day 5. Really enjoying your adventure, not your pain. 😊
Hahaha me too 😂

Nice to see the carpenters arms it was my local pub till I moved away. I know the cotswold way but never walked it thanks for saving my feet!😂
Hahah you’re welcome! Definitely a favorite pub on our walk!
Rachel, you can see by the way you are walking that you are really suffering from blisters. It took courage to continue. And country pubs are the best.
Happy belated Birthday, thank you for your lovely video's.
You walked the way like professionals, congratulations and thank you for the entertainment.
Thanks for watching!!

It was so beautiful! Where are you now?
If that's the pub in Randwick, it was closed at lunchtime when we did the Way!
If I'd have known I'd have joined you for lunch! I live in Stonehouse!
We'll just have to come back!
@@Off.Day.Adventures Now I'm slightly scared as I don't know which of us is stalking which!
Hahahah!!!
Thats hard graft. You got the special local pub vib:)
this is around where i live hope you liked it the hills here are a pain in the arse sometimes but the scenery makes up for it
Your a Very Lucky Man
I feel ashamed, I’m English and I didn’t even know about this. Sadly, I’m too old to do it now.
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 look on the bright side it could have been raining the whole way 😊
Next you could try the Hadrians wall walk 🚶♀️

How cool! Thanks for watching! We had the BEST time walking the Way - Didn't do much in Westrip - may need to come back! ;)
Another great video . Happy belated birthday . I know I'm about a month late lol .
Thank you for watching!!!
You didn't snog at the kissing gate(!)
Yes we did!!
Bloody hell. The Derbyshire Peak District .The Pinnine way which starts in Derbyshire. Or the Coast to Coast
South downs way, Ridgeway, Offas Dyke path.
Does Walks of the Cotswold have a GPS map app for you to find the trail?
They do, but it's very easy to just follow the signs!
It's extremely well signposted and very easy to follow. It's almost impossible to get lost on it, and it also goes through well inhabited areas so you're never really all that far from help if you need it.
A technical question, when you leave the Carpenter's Arms, all the writing is reversed. How does that happen?
Good question! Sometime we used the front facing camera on the phone - so depending on which side we filmed, the words would be flipped
@@Off.Day.Adventures Ah! Thanks for the explanation!
Rachel is walking like she is crippled
57 miles is no joke 😅 Especially for Americans, who walk literally nowhere!
@@Off.Day.Adventures Didn't you do some pre holiday fitness training? The Cotswolds is pretty easy country to walk through
