- Looking back at 2020, there is one company whose phones I didn't cover: Huawei. Why do I MISS reviewing Huawei phones? And will things turn around in 2021 or are these devices DOA globally? #Huawei #P40Pro #Mate40Pro #Mate20X

Do you still like Huawei, or is it DOA for you?
I've been Xiaomi Fan for the past years. Last 5 months ago, I opted to buy Huawei Nova 5t (last phone with Google Servies) and so far this is a great buy compared to my previous phone (Mi A2 Lite). Sadly, I want to see Huawei phones on Midrange phone with Flagship specs and Google Play Services.
@@kensalazar9202 Nova 5T has Kirin 980 which is also a flagship chipset of 2019.
Because you have made yourself more western than asian
I still miss Huawei, but no GMS is too big a hurdle.
i sad
It's really a shame because Huawei makes really good phones, from entry level to flagship.
Agreed Jeremy! People don’t realize but it made up probably 30-40% of all the phones I used to review on the channel. Now it’s zero. So sad 😭
blame the clown
harmony os is coming
lol
I really miss Huawei phones a lot, i hope they come back with Google services
That's why i couldn't use Huawei phone
Yeah bro completely agree. Some people thinking I don’t like Huawei or stopped using because I think they suck got it all wrong. I stopped using for exactly the same reason as you bro. No Google is just a no go for me on not just Huawei phones, but any phone!
You can instal playstore and use all app, i have p40 and work perfect
@@User___005 Say that to Facebook and Google
@@User___005 I am just saying. If USA was actually blaming China for data stealing through Huawei phones. Even other countries can do that. Because USA has the access to the data of all smartphone users in the world. Because of their google services and fb apps.
Agreed bro , using a phone without Google services is actually really hard..
hello :)
Yeah it’s so tough! I want to try, but man I use Google apps to manage my channel daily. Would be even harder for me to do.
@@FrankieTech Is there no any chance that the Google Services will be back on any huawei devices sir frankie?
@@notalexanjelo just search and you will find how instal playstore, i have p40 snd work perfect
@@TheComputerStupid there's a difference between having these apps installed vs them being officially supported. Yes they can be installed but with them not being officially supported, expect some minor glitches. And even if they work just fine, the average user who isn't tech literate won't be bothered to figure out the workarounds
Let's see if the new leader of USA will reconsider this ban. Having dug deeper into the details of the ban, I understand the reasoning behind it, but having a powerhouse like Huawei compete against the Samsung and the Apple is good for tech as they push each other to innovate even more. Hoping to see progress in this issue next year!
We shall see bro! Thanks for watching!
Mate 40 pro best phone ever, waiting for harmony!
Still rocking my p30 pro and can't see many phones on the market to compete with it so will be keeping it for a while
Huawei phone still having good sales in my country (Malaysia)
Hi same from Malaysia
Before Mi 10 Ultra I had Huawei P40 PRO for half a year. Life without GMS is fine. There just bit more hussle during setup process. One can install Aurora Store and UA-cam Vanced and live normal life. If it woudnt be for overall better specs on Mi 10 Ultra I would be still on Huawei P40 PRO, or Mate 40 PRO+ right now if it wouldn't be so expensive. In my experience EMUI is much more stable than MIUI, with less stutters and bugs. MIUI on other hand provides more features. Camera app is great on both. I really look forward to Huawei P50 series, which should come with liquid lens.
Nice Lukas thanks for sharing your experience!
Great video and you are spot on. Me and my son have old Huawei phones but are finally upgrading this month to xiaomi mi 10t pro and Realme x7 pro. Will miss their great phones!
That's why Xiaomi didn't sell any phones in US. They didn't want to ended up like Huawei.
hello :)
@@yuichi1925 hi
Lol I never know that xiaomi didn't sell in us
No that’s not why Huawei was banned lol. They were banned for stealing technology and collecting data via their cellular infrastructure. And Xiaomi sells in the US now via Walmart. BBK has been selling in the US via Oneplus since the op1 and hasn’t had a problem.
@@big_smoke7t Well if dats stealing is such a great issue, then Google and Facebook should be the first to be banned
In India, if Huawei give there kirin 9000 in less than 21k without any Google services, I'm 100%sure people are definitely going to buy this chipset.
Some skilled users have found ways of accessing Google services, but a lot of people cannot or don't want that hassle. Huawei phone hardware is great, especially the cameras. At least they are trying a lot harder than Nokia/Microsoft!
Yeah I’m sure but for most it’s pretty much a no go. Yeah can’t deny that! Their hardware is still amazing.
Bro... I miss huawei like crazy. They really took my mobile photography to the next level and made me fall absolutely in love with it since the P20 Pro. Loved the Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro, used the p40 pro briefly. I’m gutted Frankie...they were my absolute go-to for a new phone, nothing else mattered to me...next new flagship huawei that was my next phone...got the note 20 ultra at the moment but I still miss huawei a LOT. Such a shame what’s happened it really is.
I'm still using the Mate 10 Pro, does all I need, I did try the Mate 30 Pro in March 2020, but no Google apps was just not liveable for me, I did install GMS, but for some reason after that, processing photos would take ages, making me think the GMS I installed was doing something else in the background, sucking up all the resources, so did a factory reset and tried again GMS free, but in the end couldn't do it, so sold it and using my trusty Mate 10 Pro 👍
Thanks for your perspective! Yeah I feel that it would be nearly impossible for me to do. I used Google apps to manage my channel daily, so really a no go for me. But I want to try and give it a shot again next year.
@@FrankieTech yep, I was the same, you can do most things with the web versions, but apps are much more convenient and easy to use, no Google Pay, unstable Spotify, unusable WearOS devices, on a £1000 phone is just asking too much xD I recommend trying a cheap device 1st to have an idea what you'll be getting into and maybe go from there...
Totally agree frankie! i still have my mate 20 X :D :) never looked back ! :)
Huawei will come back!
I miss my mate 20x, had it for Bout two years, really awesome, I would say it was my favorite phone of all time. Wish Huawei made a new one.
Would be really interesting to see how you get on with installing the Google framework onto an Huawei device mate... Would certainly make a very interesting video... Why not purchase one of Huawei lite models firstly and give it a go...if it is successful and you get Google framework installed then you can maybe get the p40 pro knowingly that you can install the Google framework yourself.... Really think it could make a very interesting series of videos.
Yeah it definitely seems like an interesting proposition! I’ll definitely consider it, but wondering if I just wait at this point to see what’s in store for the next Gen releases. Really don’t like that double punch hole look on P40 Pro! But will see if I do bro!
Their camera tech is enough to keep me interested
I like ur idea on u intending to use thr phone as ur daily usage of huawei phones with their new OS. Cant wait if its still relevent & user friendly on 2021.👍😉👍
The one thing that drove me crazy about Huawei is the fact that they never use gorilla Glass on their phones. They don't even use oleophobic coatings on the screens . Just plain old tempered glass. Jerryrigs proved that in a couple of his videos. Huawei even went as far as blacklisting any reviewers that even mentioned it.
For your good review, I bought the Huawei mate 20 x and to date I have changed phones 20 times and I always return to May mate 20 x
i'm using a matepad pro for almost two weeks now and it hase been great. yeah not having google is a little annoying but once you get used to it, there will not be a huge problem anymore. hardware and software are really great on huawei devices
Using a, phone without Google integration is tough. But it can be done. I would love to hear about your take and experience going through that Frankie 🙂✌
Mate 40 pro is an art
Using honor 20(kirin 980) lv this beast❤️
I own p40 pro with GMS on board. Everything works. It's fast, smooth. Incredible cameras.
Frankie u made me by honour 8x, I really enjoyed the phone.i remember ur comparison with mi 8 lite.
I just pre order Huawei Mate 40 pro, no problem with no GMS
P40 Pro is my daily driver, even no Google play services
Huawei almost gone from my memory 🤣. I forgot that they produce a beast called mate x!
i felt the same, my first options was the mi 10t and nova 7 5g, regardless if nova has no google play the only downside is the price when compared to the mi 10t 5g.
For ordinary user it might be a deal breaker having no Google services, but I might give it a go.
It makes no sense for the US government to go after Huawei's mobile division while leaving all the other China OEMs with the same security concerns
Huawei already has an app called Quick App you don't need to download it, you can find Google apps there except UA-cam Studio idk why it won't appear, if there's no other Google app on Quick App there's a browser, they're about to launch HarmonyOS as well, which is 90% more powerful than Android according to Huawei's CEO 2 months ago and he said it keeps improving i wonder how powerful is HarmonyOS on 2021 , and according to some developers who test HarmonyOS capability it said to be its really so smooth compare to Android, it might be look the same as Android for now because Huawei only shows the capability of HarmonyOS not the new UI of it, according to the reports HarmonyOS with new UI will be on official release
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. My first out of the ordinary phone was the Honor V20 and was enlighten. Yes its not the best but it still was a very well rounded phone in most specs. And I fell in love with the illusion V on the back case(I had Sharingan red♥️). I showed it off like crazy. You would be amazed of how many regular day people have never heard of Huawei, Xiaomi, Oneplus, etc... Well OnePlus is finally in our T-Mobile and At&t stores so it's coming up... But I wish Honor bring back the V shaped illusion on the future V-Series phones🤔🙌🏾❗
Yeah I remember that was one of the most beautiful phone backs I reviewed. Always enjoyed the Honor V Series, and hopefully they’ll have more great phones like this in the future.
want to see Huawei
Huawei is best smartphone man. You know.
I have P40 Pro and intall Gapps for 20 minutes.
Send me links for how you do it. I am curious how well this works.
How did you
Watching here with my p20 pro sadly i feel like its time to update , really wish they still had google play, cant decide if i should go with the samsung s20 or Xiaomi mi 10t pro have no experience from Xiaomi so its a though one.
I had a Huawei p40 pro and and it was an awesome phone but of course the only thing that was missing is google services 🥴🥴....if it had google services to me it would be one of the best of the year!!!
I really miss Huawei phone's as well , My last Huawei Phone was P30 pro which was i feel best device of that time ... I love their mate 40 pro but without Google services it's almost useless
I love huaweui but I saw a vid that it will be hard to come bsck with its own os because ios and android are like at the peak and starting again from the bottom will be rough but I hope huawei makes it.
Im still useing my mate 9
Agreed bro
Yup! Huawei has some pretty solid phones. Still using my p10 and still have less than 50% storage. Their os takes little space compared to other android phones like samsung. Even my poco x3 nfc takes up more 15gb for the os
Mate 20 pro user...love Huawei phone. 🇧🇩
Me too!
Had a p20 pro for almost 3 years and it was the best phone i ever had if it was not for the price i would have get a mate 40 pro!
True
Love from India
Big fan
Yep Shame had to go with Xiaomi because of the google thing
Still got my Huawei Mate 20x 5G.. Best phone ever had and lucky have all Google services.. don't know if I will ever buy another one while this ban is there
I think I get me an p30 pro still great device in 2020
Yeah I’m sure it is! Also the last Huawei phone to have Google app support!
@@FrankieTech absolutely that's the point why I want the p30 pro. Do you think the new edition is worth the 150 €more?
I HAVE NO REGRETS BUYING MY NOVA 7 OVER XIAOMI MI10TPRO. Nova 7 looks Premium designed even you compared to others flagship brand. it is true NOVA 7 is the flagship killer of 2020. From display to performance its a overall package . And I have no hard times finding applications that I want to download because of petal search and taptap.
I used to own Honor (a sub brand by Huawei) but until the recent ban on china by USA I then shifted to xiaomi and since I never looked back to huawei kirin chip.
Snapdragon chip is more powerful than kirin or mediatek just to add on
For normal user its not a big deal, but all depends what apps are you using, it is easy to install apk manually but it will be boring to install them each update :D That is if you want updated apps :D But in 10 mins you can install what ever you want not a big deal for people that can put extra effort.
I love Huawei, and for me they are not dead. There will be even a bigger company in the future thanks to their independence. They will own everything they'd use in their devices, so no one will stop them. When they launch HarmonyOS, they will have a legit chance to become the number one OS in a couple of years.
Still the best Huawei smartphones specially the mate series and p series
Huawei mate 20x best phone I have ever owned
With Xiaomi you can’t wait... they have a a new phone each day !
If not fot the ban, Xiaomi and Samsung still is in the warzone and i would've been holding a Huawei phone right now.
Not going to lie, I am still going to get a Huawei device . . . The hardware on these phones is not something to ignore . . .
I miss them too... the last one I had was the P40 pro
i hope they make a comeback they were really starting to do well in the market before the ban it would not have surprised me to see Huawei over take samsung had the ban not happened i hope they make a comeback i think they were unfairly targeted .
Sir pa help naman po. Anong phones from Huawei, Samsung, Oppo or Vivo under 20k budget na
✔Premium look na design
✔Maganda camera and video quality
✔pwedeng 5g pwede ring hindi.
✔Pang socmed at picture use lang po.
Salamat po
Oh yes...
I am not a huawei fanboy but yeah I am using a huawei phone and that is without google
And the smooth experience in performance still lives on and i think without google it has become smoother than ever.
I understand frankie if you cannot recommend such a lovely and good performing hardware due to no gms and with that creepy thing about your info being sent to china, lol
Well that is for the good of everyone and who knows if those info can be used against you and worse against your government
But inspite of those horrible things if they may say it, hahaha, i have loved their phones
I got the nova 7i, nova 7 5G and the mate 30 pro
And these are great performers in their respective segments
And yeah, I would really love frankie tech to take that step in 2021 to make reviews on the upcoming Huawei phones, especially the P50 series.
And if you are to ask me would you do that.?
Well and this came from my heart, I am a frankie tech avid fan
Lastly, you can ignore everything I said and not review any huawei phones
But honestly, i want you to know that I will remain a fan of yours.
Stay safe brother frankie
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Hope honor will be next huawei since they are no longer part of huawei ban does not affect them anymore
I hope so too!
I still like huawei but. Im more of a google person. So Im not interested to have one.
Huawei 2021🎉🎉
Honor will grow
I hope so!
👍👍👍
I feel so bad the pres of united states why he do that we all know that Huawei is affordable phone and good specs
To me they are dead! (as disco... haha)
But they use to be great devices with great cameras!
was my first one after i left the apple sect...
but with ut google in it, it is a gonner
🏴💙
Thanks bro for watching!
Gl
Kinda sad but I think Huawei in global markets is dead now, don't think people really trust new app stores for security etc.. think the ban really damaged their reputation, they could turn it around but It would have to be drastic!
Stop making me emotional 😭😭😭, i always pray for Huawei, i know thing's will get better cus Harmony Os is out
Huawei has no value without Google apps though
Second
First
Huawei is dead to me and many other people now, they might make a comeback, but I would prefer OEMs like Nokia, Sony and LG do better and in 2020 Sony Xperia made some great and good phones which is promissing while LG is putting in some work especially at making cool devices
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. My first out of the ordinary phone was the Honor V20 and was enlighten. Yes its not the best but it still was a very well rounded phone in most specs.
