- Taking a trip up the Serpentine at the Train Mountain Railroad with Jim Davenport's 3.75" Scale 7.5" gauge RMI 2-6-2 Prairie locomotive. These are Commonly referred to as "Sweet Creek" locomotives, although the Sweet Creek is a 2-6-0 and Jim's is a 2-6-2.
Thanks for the ride.
We only visited once, a year ago today, Narrow Gauge Meet had just finished up but Jim was still running.
Took me a few minutes to orient myself as to where you were running as we never rode any trains, I rode my bike around and checked it out.
We are determined to return.
I wish there were more narrow gauge models running on 4.75'' track, but there are hardly any 1'' clubs in America.
Would you recommend an RMI to someone starting out in the hobby? Would you consider them a reliable alternative to building an engine?
Probably not recommend one to a new person but I guess it depends on your situation. If you buy an RMI engine you're looking at around $40,000-$70,000. As for someone starting out in the hobby, well, If you want a BIG engine then go for it. But they are a handful and might be a little challenging for someone that doesn't know how to transport or re rail something that big.
There certainly good locomotives, but as mentioned previously they are massive and subsequently hard to move around. I'd suggest looking for a good secondhand 1.5" scale locomotive as almost anything smaller than a pacific can be put in a pickup bed and moved around quite easily.
@@Tank245 is that American dollars or australian dollars?
how much does it cost t get one of these built for you?
@@Railroader_Gaming2009 to have one built for you from RMI is around $70,000 USD
@@Tank245 thanks Tank245, i appreciate you giving me this new piece of knowledge and i wish you the best of luck with that gorgeous work of art you have there.
