  • This video is a complete tutorial on how to replace brake pads on your car, here in this video I'm replacing the front brake pads on a Suzuki swift. It comes with a floating type brake caliper and most of the cars come with floating type brake caliper. So this method is similar to all those cars.

    Hi. Thanks for posting this excellent video. Would I be correct in saying (judging by your video) that to loosen the caliper bolts on the right hand side (driver's side) they have to be unscrewed clockwise towards the front of the car BUT on the left hand side (passenger side) they have to be unscrewed anti-clockwise towards the rear of the car. I always get confused about the 'lefty loosey and righty tighty' rule - it must be my female brain :)

    • @BehindTheClutter
      @BehindTheClutter  5 місяців тому

      No, don't learn it like that. Think like when you are opening a bottle cap. it's always anti-clockwise to loosen the bolt and clockwise to tighten the bolt. (When you are facing the bolt).
      Some bolts do the opposite way as well but that's rare and won't come on the brake calipers.

    Er how are the caliper bolts tightened to 35nm with a ring spanner???? Also wheelbolts need torqueing to at least 100nm or what is recommended not guessing.

    • @BehindTheClutter
      @BehindTheClutter  2 роки тому +1

      The tightening torque for the caliper pin bolt is 35Nm and the toque for wheel bolt is 80Nm. We can't tighten the bolts to 35Nm precisely using our hand, it can only be done using a torque wrench.
      But with enough experience you will know the approximate tightness required to match 35Nm.

    Sir my maruti sx4 petrol which has run 1lk KM needed disc and brake pads replacement .is it normal to replace disc at 1lk km???

    • @BehindTheClutter
      @BehindTheClutter  Рік тому

      Bake pads and disk replacement totally depends on your driving style. If you are not using brakes too much then 1 L km is normal for a Suzuki Car.

    In some videos a little greasing also seen.

    • @BehindTheClutter
      @BehindTheClutter  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, greasing on caliper guide pin is good for smooth braking and reducing uneven brake wear. Sorry,I failed to mention that in this video.

      You will get around 50-60k km before changing the brake pads. But it always depends on the way you drive.

    Bro My swift brake pads gets worn every 10,000 km… i have already changed it 3 times now
    is it normal ?

    • @BehindTheClutter
      @BehindTheClutter  Місяць тому

      For a Swift it is not normal. But again it depends on your driving conditions. If you use the brake frequently it could wear out the pads.
      It can also be caused by a stuck caliper guide pins( in that case, inner pads will be more worn out than outside)
