  • Hi everyone! In this long-awaited video I'm answering all your questions about Amsterdam! What I study, what the University of Amsterdam is like, what studying Media and Culture is like and what I plan on doing with my Bachelor, how to find housing/ how I found housing in Amsterdam, the best locations/areas to live in Amsterdam, and how to make friends at university and in a new city in general! I hope I answered all of your questions and if you have any more please don't hesitate to ask them in the comments!

My son is finishing his 2nd year at UvA, and he loves it! I visited last summer and I loved it too. He was in Sloterdijk the 1st year, and I LIKED it. He did, too.
He's fluent in German, lovely Antonia-lived in Hamburg. Your video is great, and I agree that I felt very safe there.
Look for his band playing out. It's him and 3 Dutchies: their band name is Ratjetou!
I'd recommend studying there to anyone, unless they're just not fit enough to get around.

I love this!! I'll be in Amsterdam studying at UvA nexy year. I have so much trouble with finding a place to live in, but I hope I'll find one for next year.
I also want to start my own youtube channel after finishing with the exams at highschool hehe.
I'm scared and anxious about the friends subject, people there seem so nice and friendly but still, hopefully I'll form beautiful conections❤️

No, if you're not EU or Schengen, you will have a hard time finding a job, because your student visa is not enough. NL businesses prefer those 2 above classifications, because they have all the paperwork they need to hire those people. Americans are problematic.

Hey I have two more questions:
    1. Would you say it's important to be able to speak Dutch
    2. How about finding jobs? Is it easy to find a job as a student in Amsterdam and is it essential for the jobs to speak Dutch?
Would be lovely if you could answer that🙈🥺💗💗thanks for the video it really really helped me

    • @sander8831
      @sander8831 Рік тому +5

Hi, as a Dutch person I think I can answer your questions.
      1) Especially in big cities speaking Dutch is not essential, most Dutch people speak a decent amount of English and in bigger cities there are a lot of people who aren't Dutch that only speak English.
      2) Although some jobs do require that you speak Dutch there are plenty of jobs where only speaking English will suffice. In big cities you will find that in many restaurants, fast food places, cafe's or shops a lot of the employees only speak English. I don't know what kind of job you would be interested in, but I think that you can definitely find something you like without having to speak Dutch.

Tried to reach u on ig but couldnt find your account so asking here, when u said u got a chance to switch programs but choose not to, at what point were you given the option?:) im contemplating between two bachelors and im scared of choosing the wrong one and then being stuck at that for 3 years🤯

I was given that option between the first and second year (as far as I can remember)! It's easiest to contact your study advisor or the help desk! (Also, you're never stuck! Every experience you make will help you in some way PLUS you can always pick electives etc. that interest you more!)

Hii! Just wanted to tell you that you are so beautiful and I really like your voice and the way you are telling information) it was so interesting to listen to you !
I’m so scared to go to university, because of many reasons like I’m younger than all of my classmates and I will go to uni almost just after my 17 th birthday. Also I’m from Ukraine soo.. everything is a little bit harder )) I was at Amsterdam last year and I’m literally fell in love with this city so I would like to move there.
I have questions for you if you don’t mind )
First of all , what is your first language? If it’s not English , what was your level when you were applying?
Secondly, have you been scary about what program to chose ? I’m just so so confused how people actually decide what to learn, because I don’t have “dream job” and for me it is extremely hard decision.
I would be so grateful for your answer ♥️

In the Linguistics classes at least, you can take an option to delay taking your final exam, if you wish, but it will be extra hard. The regular tests and quizzes are very important, final, not as much as in some countries.

I've visited, and my son is in his second year there. I didn't see a lot, and because the Moroccans run some criminal enterprise, there is some prejudice against them. You may/may not be an innocent bystander of that kind of prejudice.
