I can recall my father always humming this song on holidays now and then and was surprised to hear this song with the same tune in the movie and there was no difference in the RAGA my father was born in 1904 and I heard hin hum in thyear1942
See that you are not a Telugu person. This is a very old Telugu composition (used in plays, then in movies) on Satyabhama’s arrogant feelings. Not quite a devotional theme in one sense although you can interpret this one stanza in a devotional sense. Also this girl did not sing the full song, she sang one of 3 stanzas. In this stanza she is describing how her mind is taken over by the sweetness of the music from Krishna’s flute. “Madhura madhura murali gaana rasaa svadanam” these are Samskritam words common in all Indian languages including Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi etc. Satyabhama is saying in this song overall that Krishna may not cross the boundary her love draws. In other stanzas that were not sung, there is comparison with Rukmini’s love which Satyabhama thinks is not much. You can listen to the entire song by searching for the string “ meerajalagalada na yaanati”. It is beautifully sung by Susheela and another older classical lady S Varalakshmi. I like the older one, Susheela’s is equally good and extremely popular.
