i have played this game for 15 years. 15 entire years. i have multiple memory cards with maxed out 99 hours on each save. and i didnt know about the secret tattle door in the back LOL
I wish you went more in depth for a lot of the entries but overall I really liked the stuff in here and there was a number even I surprisingly still didn't know. Other things that could be included are how chapter 7's star was originally in the pit and how exactly the X-Nauts acquired it, Bonetail's eyes, Yoshi colors, status ailment animations, King K miscolored in Chapter 8, the history behind that secret area you can sail to in the port similar to the Glitz t.v. room (it always gave me unsettling vibes), how modders added debug type badges such AA Hitboxes, Phonetail and the Hero's Crest, and evidence that suggests the game was rushed like how most GameCube titles were, details that were in 64 but not here, and other oddities backing it up. There's probably a lot of other quirks I can't remember right now for this game. I recall people thinking Wario was on a wanted poster and how weird it is that Mush just disappears after chapter 3.
there is also the theory that Ms. Mosue (I forgot the spelling) is the narrator of the game, at least for partner introductions, because when you get her as a partner, the pronouns are always "I" instead of he/her/they
The gamer toad calls it "the new Paper Mario game" either to avoid spoiling the title before the release or because Intelligent Systems hadn't named it yet.
lol I just finished the remake recently and I just used danger mario with 20 badges and I literally once shot every single boss, even one shotting the shadow queen into her 2nd form
I feel like I should add something to the entry at 17:00. Those ambient sounds will only play under a very specific circumstance. In order to hear them you would have to leave the pit of 100 trials after beating it and go through it a second time on the same save file. Also upon re-entry to floor 100, Bonetails body is no where to be seen. Very few players probably completed the Pit of 100 trials to begin with, but I'm sure only a fraction of those would've decided to do it a second time. It's just a very bizarre detail.
I personally have completed the pit several times on the same file (and on multiple files), just because I like getting the star points from repeat runs (particularly, elite wizzerds continue to give star points until level 38 or so, and if you're lucky enough to get amazy dayzees, the star point multiplier boosts how many you get out of them because there's a 0.55x multiplier in battles with 3 enemies, which is the amount you fight on twilight trail, but in 4 enemy battles that they appear in in the pit, its a 0.65x multiplier, so you get several more star points, plus the chance on some of the floors to get 2) Another thing to note about the floor, its already pretty visible even on the first time down while bonetail's corpse (skeleton?) is still there, but the removal makes it more clear, that weird pattern that takes up most of the floor where bonetail stands isn't just some unique floor pattern, it looks like some kind of blast zone or something. The area you can see while bonetail is still there is all cracked up, and a spot right in the center of it that is normally mostly hidden underneath bonetail is some kind of epicenter of some sort of massive pressure, a small radius of completely wiped and dug up dirt. Maybe it's from bonetail keeling over and flipping over, but it kinda seems like something that was done when the shadow queen originally created the pit, as if like, she made a magic blast strike the floor in that spot, maybe like bonetail was a smaller entity like a koopa and the shadow queen blasted it with magic to grow it into a dragon.
It feels so brilliant to have the option to surrender to the Shadow Queen and become her servant, thus an automatic game over. Why can't more games have the option to simply give up and become servant of the main antagonist instead of fighting them. The only other game that I can think of that has that option for such a grim ending is Cuphead.
I didn't know about many of this! Destroying fire bars was definitely the most impressive to me. To this I'd probably add the secret Ultra Shroom and Jammin Jelly after beating Gloomtail, and that the room in Palace of Shadow where Franklin is held captive is actually Gloomtail's room. Also, that the color of Baby Yoshi depends on the time between saving the egg and being defeated by the Armored Harriers.
I have played this game probably 10 times. It’s quite possibly my favorite game. I didn’t think this video would teach me much. But I can genuinely say that my mind was blown a couple of times when I watched this video. Well done 👍🏻
Another one: in the mystery chapters (3 and 6) there is some foreshadowing of the chapter bosses in the main mystery themes. In 'Mysteries of the Pit' you can hear slurping sound effects from Grubba's machine, and in Pennington's theme, you can occasionally hear Smorg sound effects. In the opposite manner, the Doopliss boss theme has bell toll sound effects, from earlier on the chapter.
Love the small details in this game that would go unnoticed without videos like this. Blew my mind that the fire bars break after 10 jumps or that Yoshi has a chance to gulp enemies rather than spit them back out. Excellent video man!
Mind blown at the trouble center back door. Never thought to Flurrie there, but still. Played to see that and to maybe continue on this playthrough, but got freeze locked from a bs first strike by an ice piranha into a game over. Not gonna continue that afterall

From my time living in mexico that "Horsetail" was a natural plant medicine that was often shunned in the cities , being only given to you by the native people in the sierras. For us the natives are known as "Tarahumaras" and still dress with traditional old clothes with bright colors , though they prefer to live in isolation in the mountains. Anyways my grandfather owned some sort of broom stick business and would often drive up there to get shipments of broomsticks sourced by those native guys and they gave him horsetail in order to cure his kidney stones supposedly. I think it worked but it also basically made him lose all his teeth lol. Apparently you're not supposed to brew horsetail into a tea and drink it. There's a lot of other shunned medicinal remedies over there with harsh side effects but long lasting cures. edit: There may be other cultures that use this obviously this is my own recall of it. (I haven't watched the whole video, so I apologize if you talked about this), but I discovered an oddity with the item menu when I played ttyd for the first time. I played up to pre-chapter 5 and I had Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, the Yoshi, Vivian, and Ms. Mowz in my party, and when I opened the gear section and selected a healing item, the partner list displayed Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, the Yoshi, Vivian, and _Bobbery,_ not Ms. Mowz. Using an item on it doesn't switch in Bobbery though. My best assumption as to why this happened is that the partner list for the gear menu is programed to display the next partner in the list, and I guess Bobbery is before Mowz. I haven't checked yet, but I'm assuming that this corrects itself when opening the menu with Mowz as the active partner, when she loses some of her HP, and (obviously) when Bobbery joins you. I don't have the time to check all of this right now, but when I do, I'll be sure to do a thorough runthrough.
That isn't on the Iceberg but yeah that glitch has been documented before. And I think that glitch makes it impossible to heal Ms Mows outside of battle without Health Blocks or Inns. It does get fixed once you get the next partner, and it stinks that the glitch also spoils who the next partner is.
