I dropped all paid streaming services and just use the free with ad ones for several years now. If I really want to pay I'll do it case-by-case for what little is worth paying for.
My movie discussion group has Tubi listed as a highly recommended option for streaming because of it's variety and budget friendliness.

I have been watching Tubi and Pluto for years since cutting cable. I had Disney up until watching the Acolyte. That lesbian debacle was the last draw it is canceled.
I really wish that Pluto had a better service. Gets really old having to reach for the remote to put it back on the guide, then click the show you've been trying to watch every five minutes or so because it suddenly decided to go to a black screen with the channel and show title rather than simply playing the damned show. It's been like that for years. =(

Crackle's another free service. They do rotate their offerings more frequently than I'd like, but it's still better than paying for Disney.

It has the original Doctor Who episodes. Some of the episodes are animated. But I just watch Tubi for the old stuff anyways!

Iger had an ok reputation being a Disney CEO when he first left but now his reputation/legacy is ruined and he’s looking like the worst businessman ever. Taking a company that was pretty well liked for a long time and turning into a much more hated company.
But he was originally feted for buying up a load of well known IPs. People went on and on about that but never talked about all the debt he was taking on. Those IPs didn't come cheap. Since they've had their hands on them they've almost ruined their value. So for my money, the guy's been useless since he was promoted.

Lol it wasn't by choice, Hulu was owned 33% by Disney, fox and Comcast. When Disney bought fox they got fox 33% which then gave Disney 66% ownership of Hulu and the last I checked Comcast still owns the remaining 33.3%. so it's not like Hulu has some choice as Disney is literally they're owners n have been since pretty much day 1.

We watch Tubi all the time. We have cancelled our Disney + account because they have nothing new for us to watch. Disney streaming is not worth their monthly price.
That was the main reason I dropped Disney +. I'd already watched everything I wanted so why bother keeping the subscription up.

I have not watched Gingerdead Man but I would guess it is a safe bet that it is better than The Acolyte.
We used to buy whole seasons of shows on iTunes that would be available to watch the day of the release on broadcast. Even when the switch was happening back in 2007, we still would want to own the shows.
God I love how Hollywood in general and disney in particular took dozens of revenue streams and, hundreds of millions of dollars annually, and just lit them of fire. They just completely cut off their own nuts for one reason: greed. Disney was dead set on controlling all aspects of distribution so that they didn't have to share any of the revenue, and Bob Iger and his greedy bastard ass-lickers totally wrecked themselves.
My family often watches Tubi although we also have prime and Netflix.
We would never watch Disney or Hulu given the corporate attitude to manipulate the minds of children.

What are all these "prestigious" shows that these companies are moving back to HBO, ABC, etc? These companies are in freefall and there is no end in sight. The switch away from linear pay tv has only increased in the last couple years, these legacy companies are acting in desperation as they have no idea what to do. Their shows aren't doing well, they don't have any prestige. That's why most of them want to pay a lot for sports rights as that's the only thing that at least some people are still watching.
I've been watching Tubi for over 10 years. Had subscribed to Hulu long before Disney bought them. But when I canceled Disney, I dumped Hulu as well.

Tubi has Major Cinematic hits that make rotations and it's a hell of a lot cheaper with no forced "Packaging"!!

Tubi has a lot of old movies from when Hollywood knew how to entertain. They are still fun to watch. They also have a decent library of more recent films. The library of TV shows is getting larger all the time. The ad breaks are minimal and brief. I watch Tubi more than any other service and have canceled most of the services that have a fee.

You know what helps Tubi? Selection. They got mainstream favorites all the way to obscure stuff that's not retroactively edited/censored for "modern audiences." Speaking as someone who loves cult horror movies but wants the kids to see stuff like Batman '89, Tubi is a godsend.

I got Tubi the week the lockdowns started because they achieved the thing no other streamer did and got Kamen Rider. The also have an infinite supply of random old films - from the 90s to silent films. They don’t do the infuriating thing that the other streamers do where they recommend the same things in every category- their catalog is deep and they aren’t ashamed of it.
Watching the Red Green show on Tubi right now. They got a lot of old great shows and movies.
Tubi has a decent Anime selection too and in various dubs too. Definitely a hidden gem.

From (previous) close of $95.74 *_down to_* (wait for it!) *_$91.79_* which suggests, that whoever has been propping-up the price over the past few weeks, will need very *_DEEP pockets_* to get that back to an upward trajectory! (Figures are forecasts but usually spot-on in accuracy after trading starts)
*_EDIT_* And........ They're off, and, after 4 minutes of trading; the stocks are fluctuating quite wildly at figures between $90.08 - $90.90 as the 'Propper-upper' starts digging deep!!

I've been on Tubi for about two years now. I watch horror movies, and they keep track of my watches and show me movies I might like. I find new movies all the time, along with the classics.
The have so much in other genres also.
If you have kids, you can set it up for them to watch kid-friendly stuff. If movies aren't your thing, you can watch TV shows and live channels. For FREE. Tubi is just like TV used to be. Free. Just without the rabbit ears.
The commercials aren't intrusive.
Its the best thing to happen in a long time if you're a movie fan.

Been on Tubi for years, best streaming ever, always works even when some of the others are out due to reception, etc.
My big concern now is the future of Disneyland. I don't think it can keep going as it has been. Cast members can't afford to work there and live in California. I think the answer is new management and new ideas and robots. Have robots do the cleaning and the counter work and eventually the maintenance and pay the people who play the Disney characters hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the best talent for those characters. The combination of terrific Disney characters and friendly robots would bring back the magic to Disneyland
Tubi has been great since its inception years ago, and has gotten even better since WBD open the content they had exclusively on Max up for licensing. From recent movies to very popular ones, classic movies and shows, etc, you have a ton of variety. And the ads are not terrible nor as frequent as in some paid streaming services.
The one area where Tubi is pretty weak is Spanish content. That is, unlike something like Pluto, where you can find pretty much the same Hollywood movies playing that month in Spanish dubbed version, on Tubi you have maybe one Hollywood film dubbed and almost exclusively the rest of the Spanish content are Mexican films. And even though most (if not all) the featured movies in English or another foreign language have a dubbed or subtitled version out there (specially those that came out years ago), there is no option to change audio channel or subtitle language.
But that is a minor gripe for when the folks are in town. The platform otherwise works great (it’s amazing that a “free” app performs far, far better than Max and Prime ever did) and the variety of content surpasses what many of the paid ones offer.

It seems like Roku came first but then sites like Hulu, Tubi, Crackle and a few others all started out around the same time and a for the most part had the same business model and layout. But they all began implementing different tweaks and changes and decisions at different points and they All had very different levels of success or failures.
It is pretty fascinating and shows how different management styles work and don't work

Another great analog to Paul's last point is buying a horse. A typical, generic horse is $500 - $3000. The average cost to feed a horse per month is $200-$400. That doesn't include renting a stable and having the horse cared for. So the horse costs nearly as much in food for six months as you spent buying the horse.
If you like your movies with short ad breaks and at 720p resolution Tubi is for you, if you don't it isn't. Me, I prefer my movies in 4K so I buy physical or Blu-ray when 4K isn't available, and for streaming I also would prefer 4K.
we watch tubi every night currently binging NYPD blue, meanwhile I canceled my disney plus sub, and I never had hulu. I hope disney plus goes down hard and is shut down.
